How to Control Stretching: Mastering Cannabis's Growth Push Stretching is a natural growth spurt for cannabis plants, but it is known to affect final yield. We dive into what causes stretching in the first place and how to prevent it from invading your growing space. There is little more irritating than an overloaded grow room. Stretching, the term used to describe the accelerated growth of cannabis stems, is part of the natural process of the vegetative phase and is influenced by plant genetics among other variables. Unfortunately, stretching is a recurring culprit in poor yields and plants that are too long resulting in the wobble of physically unstable crops. Despite the threat it confers, stretching can be controlled by first examining the factors influencing growth and then creating a protocol to accompany these problems step by step. Controlling cannabis stretching requires an understanding of how plants interact with their internal and external environments. WHY DO PLANTS STRETCH? There are many reasons why plants are stretched, one of which revolves around the varieties themselves. Genetics play an essential role in determining the possible height of sativas, indicas and hybrids. While most indica varieties are reared to grow in a smaller and denser way, sativas often undergo significant stretches of up to sometimes almost 2 or more mothers depending on the species. While stretching itself is not harmful, drastic flare-ups on the part of the stems can result in the potential loss of a large crop of between 20% and 30% in total. When thinking about species for your next home growing session, look for the standard size of each variety you are interested in so you can judge whether or not these species undergo drastic stretching during flowering.

All feeds with nutes use either a whole ratio, or combination, of "Veg Mix" and "Bloom Mix"concentrates. These are/will be DILUTED in water until a total ppm of add-in is reached using a (Total Dissolved Solids) TDS Meter measured in PPM (parts per million). The "Veg Mix" concentrate will eventually be added-in larger, then smaller, ratios while the "Bloom Mix" concentrate will eventually replace the "Veg Mix" concentrate entirely. The ppm and ratios will be listed when I feed. Veg mix recipe is on week 3. Bloom Mix recipe is on week 5. Day 91/21 Replaced the small modified tomato ring with a full size 3 ring tomato support ring so I could support every branch. I made this decision on seeing a lot of my 90 degree breaks from yesterday as still mostly 90 degrees. I also removed the tape from around the split and placed a wire tie under that trunk to ensure it was secure. After that I also placed a tie on each cola split just past my breaks and another higher up as an upper support. VPD was great aagain today. 74F/55%RH/ Auto ILV but raised the fan setting from 4 to 5 so it didnt have run as long to get it back into range. PPFD was a bit off yesterday and today from all of the sudden changes, But I raised my lights today and returned the settings to 750 max and 550 lowest. This meant that I needed to move my fans as well. They are now on medium setting and all were checked for movement to as many branches as they can hit. Day 92/22 Watered for salt flush today. Used 3 gallons of purified water at 7.1ph water no additives. PPM was about 70 after ph'd. Ended up with ~ 1.25 gallons of runoff that showed 5.95 and 5.98ph on two meters. Top soil tested at 6.44, 6.63, 6.36, and 6.47ph for an avg of 6.475. Runoff also showed 1540 ppm VPD was controlled with having the door open for a few hours. Temps and humidity are 72F and about 50%RH with the door open, and about 75F and 55%RH with it closed. ILV still on auto fan setting 5. PPFD was adjusted to 820 max and 600 lowest - I used 1 hour total of IR at mainlight on/off with 15 minutes before and after switch. She got another 45 minutes of UV today as well. I plan to increase to 1 hour tomorrow. Day 93/23 Week 3 of flower and most all is well. I did however find some light burn. I say light burn because the only conditions that changed was 15 minutes more UVA today and the spots are on the leaves closest to the light. Feed yesterday was plain ph water and it improved both the topsoil and bottom runoff ph so I dont think it's a nute issue. My solution is to take control pics and reduce UVA back to 45 for another day or two to see if the condition persists or advances. Otherwise PPFD was about 820 down to 600. I used 1 hour of UV and 1 hour of IR at lights on/off Other than that it was a lazy football day while I just leave her alone. VPD was normal with humidity easy to control at 55%RH or less and temps ranging from 74-76F during the day and down to 66-68F at night. Day 94/24 Checked in on "light burn" control leaves and took pictures. My analysis is to reduce lights a little more so now max is 795ish. Went ahead with 45 minutes of UV light at mid day and 1 hr IR on the same standard I have been using. Fans still on medium and since I dont believe the spots are related, I plan to leave them on that setting. Overall I dont see much need to change anything at the moment with the spots not getting much worse or at least not that noticeable other than what has happened already and I already reduced the lights a little. If I can identify any more new spots today or tomorrow I will reduce by another 25ppfd. And if not, then the next day I will try 1 hour of UVA again. Temps and Humidity are controlled at the same 74-76F and 55%RH or lower. My plan is to keep RH that level throughout and possibly try to reduce again to as close to 45% as I can get. (edited) Day 95/25 Reviewed suspected light burn and didnt see any progression either yesterday or today against my control pics from the day before. So I went with running UVA for 1 hr at mid day again today. Still using 1 hr IR on the same standard I have been using. VPD was good today with same settings of 73-76F and 55% or lower RH. Day 96/26 No issues to report today. She still has what looks like light burn on the older upper leaves, but doesnt really look to be getting worse and the lights are not getting brighter by growth anymore so I plan to leave them where they are and back them down if I see it get more progressive. Conditions in the tent are the same as yesterday... like little to no vertical growth in two 2 days and no need to change anything. I 'do' adjust the ties daily to ensure they are not creating a pressure point. Most aren't even supporting anything and some are just pushing the cola back or out from others. PPFD is 800 max and lowest is about 580. I ran 1 hr UVA midday with the same 1 hr IR at 30/30 with main light schedule that I have been running. Temps steady. 73-76F in the day and 66-68F after lights out. RH% is 55 or less with the fan on auto. 97/27 Watering day. Started by testing /calibrating meters. Used 2.5 gallons of de-chlorinated tap water with starting ppm of 227, added ~700ppm of 100% Bloom Mix concentrate (actually 686ppm added) and ph balanced feed to ~7.0 tested on two meters. Fed until bottom drip began and got ~7cups in runoff after about 10 minutes of drain. Runoff produced 2 meter tests of 5.8ph with 1520ppm. Top soil was tested 4 times for an avg of 6.3752. Next feed will be sooner, thinking like in 4 days instead of 5 and I can adjust if she seems to dry out again. I'll be looking for ~1/2 gallon of runoff to estimate next feed from. Light burn doesnt seem to be getting any worse. UV lights are doing 1 hr a day, midday, for the rest of the week and then I will increase a little per day each week until harvest. IR is still doing the same settings until harvest as well. 1 hour with 15/15 before and after main light schedule and 1 hr total. VPD is controlled with no issues of temps or RH exceeding set limits. 73-76F and 65-68F overnight with no more than 55%RH while the ILV is set to auto.

Been unable to log in for weeks, I apologize to those who were patiently waiting and probably thought I wasnt gonna finish. I just condensed the last 4 or so weeks into 1 video then ill do 1 maybe 2 more and that'll be the end to this abomination lol. I had a rough 2nd half to this 1 which is partly why I fell behind and couldnt ever catch up, also it ended up being much more involved than I had originally planned and I didnt have the time. Sorry i blew it but I hope you guys at least got a couple laughs out of it. That's what 1 leaf is all about. Good times with good people✌️

FBA2502 Plants 1-6 Week 7 May 11– 17 FLOWER 3 Nutrients : Micro 25 ml Gro 10 ml Bloom 30ml CalMag 30 ml Recharge 10ml Green sensation 16.5ml Power buds 7.5 ml 5/11 PH 6.56, PPM 1560, temp 69 2ltr each 5/12 PH 6.31, PPM 1120, temp 68 1 ltr each 5/14 PH 6.66, PPM 1280, temp 70 1 ltr each 5/15 PH 6.66, PPM 850, temp 72 1 ltr each 5/11 Defoliation, feed, pics & videos I made 4 gallons, used 3 to water then poured the runoff back into the rest in the bucket. The next feeding, I added a gallon of tap water to residual and ph to 6,31 temp 69 & PPm 1120. Did the same on 5/14 and 15 using up the remainder of the feed solution. I must monitor and control the tent environment manually. For the past month, the humidifier has been an issue putting out way too much humidity; often leaving water in the bottom of the tent. In addition, the temperatures are also out of control. I added an AC last week to keep the temperature below 80. I finally determined the exhaust vent is also broken and has been for some time. I have been giving good reviews on the AC infinity system. However, during the time I’ve owned this tent (2 yrs), I had to replace the lights twice, fans, humidifier and now the vent twice also. Everything but the tent containment has been replaced. AC infinity does stand by their products, but they are in California, and it takes at least 2 weeks to receive the replacement. This is extremely frustrating at the critical transition to flower for my equipment to fail again. For the time being until a replacement arrives, I pulled the 4” exhaust vent from my 3x3 and hooked it up. I have the AC pushing air in and the exhaust pulling air out. This should create a neutral pressure tent environment-neither positive nor negative. I do have 3 circulating fans in the tent to move air around the plants. It looks like growth spurts have slowed and plant height has been reached. Now is the time for buds to fatten and frost up. All of them (6) are short remaining less than 3 ft. They range from 15 to 31 inches. The tallest #4 &5 and #6 have very light leaves and appear nutrient deficient compared to the shorter phenotypes. Pictures taken later in the week show fading on a few the older leaves. All are receiving the same solution and are in the same soil blend. Moving the gals in and out of the tent for their glamor shots, I bent one limb and snapped another. The bent one I taped with a splint and the snapped one I medicated manuka honey and wired it back to the main stalk. Leaves look like sativa leaning. I hope FBA2502-2 is a good daytime. I’m getting excited to see what develops in the next month or so. News Break: I’ve been informed that 2502 is FastBuds New Frostbanger and is indica for nighttime. I’m disappointed that I didn’t get a sativa to test because I really need a daytime strain. The 2 Blue Cheese plants I just grew are also nighttime. Upon opening the tent, a faint odor was detected, and some stickiness was observed during the process of defoliation. Pictures of the puffy buds even show differences. #4 &5 buds hairs are different from the others being crinklier and the others are straighter. Some like #2 &5 are showing frost on the leaves. Wow at the beginning of flower to have that much frost. They are living up to the new strain’s name. I’ve noticed that when I water, sometimes water shoots out of the side holes I the air pots. I will pack the soil firmly into the sides for future runs. Measurements: #1 15” #2 20” #3 17” #4 30” #5 31” #6 24” Your likes and comments are appreciated. Thanks for stopping by. Hey fellow green thumbs! 🌿💚 The day has finally come—our Auto Northern Dragon Fuel from Super Sativa Seed Club has been harvested! After an exciting journey, we’re thrilled to share the details of this incredible plant’s final stage. Let’s dive into the harvest report! 🌟 Harvest Details: Day 75: Harvest Day • Harvest Date: Day 75 • Harvest Method: Our beautiful Auto Northern Dragon Fuel was harvested yesterday. After weeks of careful nurturing, the time was right to bring in this amazing plant. 🌿🌼 • Preparation: Before hanging, we meticulously cleaned the plant, removing all leaves without trichomes to ensure a smooth drying process and to enhance the quality of the final product. 🌿✂️ Current Drying Process: • Method: The entire plant is now hanging upside down to dry. This method helps maintain moisture levels within the buds, allowing for a slower and more even drying process. 🌿🔄 • Environment: • Temperature: 18-22°C (65-72°F) • Humidity: 50-60% Maintaining these conditions is crucial for achieving a perfect dry and preserving the plant’s aromatic and flavorful profile. 🌡️💧 🌟 Plant and Bud Characteristics: Auto Northern Dragon Fuel: • Bud Structure: Dense and sticky, with an impressive trichome coverage. The buds are beautifully formed, showcasing the robust genetics of this strain. • Aroma: Even in the drying phase, the rich and potent aroma is unmistakable. Expect a delightful scent that hints at the powerful experience to come. • Trichomes: A thick layer of trichomes covers the buds, promising a potent final product with a great flavor profile. 🌿✨ 🌟 Care Tips: • Drying Process: Patience is key. Allowing the plant to dry slowly will enhance the final quality, preserving both flavor and potency. Ensure good airflow around the hanging plant to prevent mold and mildew. 🌬️💧 • Trimming: Once the drying process is complete (typically 10-14 days), it will be time to trim the buds. This is where we’ll shape the final product and get it ready for curing. ✂️🌿 • Curing: After trimming, curing the buds in jars for at least 2-4 weeks will further enhance the flavor and smoothness. This final step is essential for achieving the best possible smoking experience. 🍁 🌟 Genetics Spotlight: Auto Northern Dragon Fuel: • Characteristics: Known for its robust structure and dense buds, this strain has shown remarkable resilience and impressive bud development throughout the grow. The final product promises to be potent and flavorful, thanks to the thick trichome coverage and rich aroma. • Harvest Expectations: High-quality buds with a strong aroma and potent effects. The slow drying process will ensure the best possible preservation of cannabinoids and terpenes. 🌍🌿 Fun Fact: Did you know? 🌿✨ Drying the entire plant slowly helps retain more terpenes, which are responsible for the plant’s aroma and flavor. This method also helps preserve the potency and quality of the buds, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Sept 25th a.m. - fed ea. Congo and Natural Mystic 1/2 volume H2o/ Molasses mix; C 2.75L / NM 2.5L - fresh LST where needed - light survey showed an imbalance with taller autoflower in the mix. It was LST’d into a lower profile and moved deeper into the corner. Light distance for the Congo etc is now dialed-in after a bit of a shuffle. *** reminder Oct 8 is Lights-Out *** 36 hrs of darkness 26th - followed-up on yesterdays LST and put some actual direction on the Nat Mystic Branches. Its a tightly spaced unit but the branches are getting into some open air now. Look-out for what happens next 27th, - everything looks great this morning. Big feeds tonight if soil allows; 6.5L congo / 6L NM ** topping observation ** In an effort to produce a 16 cola plant using Topping methods, i am in the middle of a side by side topping experiment, and it does look like one method, Does has an advantage over the other! Waiting for each branch to grow past its first Node, and then produce a second Node, this will be the place to top, once the plant grows Past this 2nd node, on each branch. What results is that you only snip each branch Once, after the original Topping. 5 snips will produce 16 Tops. Allow each branch to grow past the 2nd node, then Top. It will produce 4 nodes naturally on each branch. Better overall spacing/symmetry The other significant feature of this response, is that the Durban Poison was a full week behind the Congo & N.M., and it has caught-up and Passed the progress of the natural mystic. Both of these plants (congo/nm) used the extra topping on the upper branch, and its required longer periods for the 4 bud-sites to develop per branch and extend away from the plant. It required more delicate fiddling than the (d)Urban Poison. **** - short video of the Tent uploaded this morning - no feed tonight, too moist 29th a.m. - soil said Go this morning; 6.5L h2o/nutes for the congo & 6L for the natural mystic - Collected details from N.M. & Congo run-off - pulled Northern Light express auto from the tent and replaced her with a 3.5 week old Green Mountain Grape. Move was done to help acclimatize to the cmh lite, ahead of Flower BONUS, you can actually see a bit of a droop on the Congo leaves… this mornings feed was 2 days overdue; the pot was actually lite & confirmed for me the condition of the soil is OK and not waterlogged. Pushed her a little bit towards a Drier Bottom since her last feed. Nice to see that as I crank it up - GMG has been super-cropped on the 28th, to help establish an even canopy - Slip, Snap, lost a Cola. Even though it was the runt, its gonna be missed 30th - OK, did a little homework last nite and the timing could not be better for me, with regards to Flushing 3 plants, ahead of the move into Flower. This stems from capturing some of the run-off after a bigger feed. What resulted is I found a high EC value on the Natural Mystic (3200) that indicates a build-up of Salts in the soil. The Volume 33% says its a bit much… i have been aggressive in my nutrient values but its been incremental. Regardless N.M. gets a quick bath to flush out this bit o History. Congo had less liquid come through but was still an elevated value (EC 2300) and will receive a Flush as well. ((d)URBAN POISON barely had any liquid come out. It will be flushed as well. Call it a tune-up, I’m in. * should anybody see something from those results that I’m missing or misinterpreted… Id be happy to hear about it. Please & Thanks pH probably has something to do with it too, but I don't care right now Effluent details: -Nat Myst released 2L out the bottom after being fed 6L : I’m going to reduce the volume of Water & Nutes fed, targeting 15% run-off. (5L next feed) -Congo released 600ml after 6.5L was fed; Which is a reasonable amount in active use; close to 10% - with height a constant issue in a tent, in my basement… i’m super happy with how low this whole grow has stayed through Veg. Kinda shocked actually… pic #23 - flushed Natural Mystic w/ 20 gallons water - (the little kids pool that I inflate, to flush-in… of course, sprouted a whole shitload of leaks in the Bottom when I was about 18 gallons in. And Yeh, the discharge hose on my electric pump DID COME OUT OF THE SINK DRAIN, 2x. I had water everywhere lol. Actually out in the garage taking care of things right now) Oct 1 - last day week 7 - re-applied the pins holding Nat Mystic in place. She is damp, Healthier & Hungry soon; target = 2 Meals b4 Lights-out. With Congo flush 100% happening… both Meal volumes tbd - been a busy week & things are about to change again. Learnings impact all the different grows. I’ve never flushed Mid-grow; and I’m liking-it !

7/14: Watered her today. Just plain water. Filled up half gallon jug of water. Filled reservoir back first line. 7/16: Bumped light intensity to 45%. Topped off reservoir at night. 7/18: Watered her today with the the leftovers of some treated water with Rapid Start from her half gallon jug. Prepping for new nutrient schedule next week. I am happy to say it seems like the WCC is responding well to the environment and feeding schedule. So Far So Good!!! 😁 Thinking of possibly starting LST next week. Please Comment if anybody sees anything wrong in the pics!?!?!? 👍 Also any tips on how-to/when to start LST would be greatly appreciated! ***** For this Grow****** “Day Air Temperature” will be the max temp of tent for the week. “Substrate Temperature” will be the average temp of tent for the week. “Night Air Temperature” will be the lowest temp of the tent for the week.

Day 58, 7th of November 2020: The 6th day since the lamp switched to be 12/12... I raised up the nutrition intake as it can be seen above only the BioBizz family 2ml/l and removed some LST because the plant remains in shape or just set a bit but nothing significant.... ....strech is on the way..... 😅 Big fan leaves and strechy plant she looks pretty tho ;) Nothing really to report there is crazy 2-3 weeks from now ;) ;)

Still in the process of drying and curing I wait for the snap Branch drying and they're not there yet but I two of the branches were ready and I cut them and taste them even though not cure was smooth and delicious. I did not collect popcorns I kept everything in small pieces and put it in a pot for edibles. One of them main colas waiting 23.75 grams. After curing this it is a very enjoyable and smooth blueberry smoke with a very strong THC content plus the very big yield and a very good recovery from abuse make this plant a real champ

End of week 9 One word - Voluptuous! The neighbours are definitely smelling it now, luckily the terpene profile on all of these plants make it smell more like a citrus farm. Another smooth sailing week and I have noticed some of the ladies are drinking less and the leaves are fading more and more every day. I am preparing for harvest as the girls are almost screaming to be cut down but I’ll be patient. I’ll be using my grow tent as the drying room because I can keep the environment in check. Making sure all my effort is not ruined by a rookie mistake such as not drying properly. Removed some dead leaves and thats about it. I’ve basically just been checking my PH and watering through this entire grow. It’s cool being easy and easy being cool!
