Ginger Nut Cookies & Aussie Music Videos Week 16 Harvest 17 th April 2020 This Entire feminised seed making and growing project was a very good learning experience for me. Right from the very start, when I successfully got a Cutting ,taken from a Barneys Farm Red diesel female plant to produce feminised pollen after treating it with a silver thiosulfate solution. I then used it to pollinate a Fastbuds Girl scout cookies auto plant and let it grow to maturity. This only produced 3 viable seeds one of which is the subject of this Diary. I made up the name "Ginger nut cookies" after a variety of cookies we have here in Australia that are made with ginger. They are the same colour as the distinct red hairs on the red diesel buds. And would you believe those same vivid red hairs were passed on to this plant so I wasn't too far off the mark with the strain name. Her flavour however is nothing like red diesel or girl scout cookies and infact as taken on a smell and aroma all of it's own. She has a lovely tropical fruit like taste and the smell is a bit like fruit yoghurt. It has an unreal after taste on the exhale and the lingering second hand smoke smells very sweet and enticing. She has a pretty well balanced high too not as potent as the GSC nor as energenic as the red diesel but just a pleasant mix of the two. It was a very easy to grow and undemanding plant that didn't seem to require a lot of extra feeding other than the 100% organic nutrients that were within the soil and a few things like compost teas etc. The other element of this diary was of course the weekly Aussie music videos That I provided the links for and put up a little video clip preview of each Artists song. Week 1 Dance Monkey Week 2 Gotye Week 3 AC/DC Week 4 INXS Week 5 Dire straits Week 6 Yothu yindi and Midnight oil Week 7 Divinyls Week 8 Was Request week where I asked growers to pick and because only 3 growers put in a request I decided to choose all three which were Kylie Minogue , Flume & Airbourne Week 9 Paul Kelly Week 10 Daddy Cool Week 11 Cold chisel Week 12 Jimmy Barnes Week 13 The Angels Week 14 Crowded House Hoodoo gurus Mental as Anything Week 15 Empire of the sun Big Pig , Silverchair , Peking duk Grinspoon , Hilltop hoods and the White stripes And Finally for the last lot of music videos I have chosen another multi list bonanza of Aussie Music with the artist/s name and Youtube link below. So in no particular order here are my last choices for this Diary its been a fun grow with a steep learning curve. Alright, now all the girls are in flowering stage and they are doing quite well. Would like to mention again very strong genetics of gorilla, cookies and zkittlez. Wow, they are really showing incredible growth and all the plants are healthy and even has any yellow leaves. They are very resistant to warm temperature ( 28-29 ). I started using the connoiseur bloom AB and bud candy, and planning to add some of Tarantula/Piranha/Voodo Juice on the 5-6 week and also the Bud Ignitor ( all - Advanced Nutrients). Will see how it works, maybe i will use different combo's for different flowers to analyze which nutrient is better to combine. Two of 6 Dark Devil's branches and leaves started to get covered by purple color, looking quite unusual. The Northern Lights are still a mystery for me. Different height, different growth pace, different amount of branches with buds. I don't have that kind of issues with other 4 strains, all of them ( gorilla, cookies, dark devil, zkittlez) are exactly THE SAME height, showing the same growth pace and all of them are strong and healthy. Also among 15 seeds of NL i got only 11 germinated properly :( bad statistics. Hope Gorilla and Cookies will work for.

I started watering with clear water 3 days ago, the lower leaves started to turn yellow or dry. The first amber pistils appeared, CBD Rich has a few more. The trichomes that I observed with a loupe are currently clear and milky. The smell of the juanita is starting to be divine, fruity and tropical 🍍, it reminds me of the beach, but I won't be able to tell you what exotic fruit it is, I haven't eaten enough of it. The buds have also grown quite a bit. I think this is the largest quantity I have ever seen in this box. The harvest will perhaps be in 20 days Music : Toi mourir - Serge Gainsbourg little update to show you the impressive colors during the senescence that one of the 4 took, probably it's a little cooler under the fan. They are all starting to yellow, but it should last until 65 days. There will probably be no more leaves this day.

Chopped the stump, had about 9g wet & dry a bit over 2g. Plant B is still a week behind but filling in nicely. Hoping for a oz but time will tell. Still a bit of powdery mold but only seen it on one leaf. Cut it off immediately so far so good with the rest.

Plants are doing well, The 84" inch tent is a must if your not training or topping. I removed all the sacks that appeared last week and I haven't seen anymore show up so fingers cross, I check daily. Bigger tent also helps with heat control as the air has more room to rise. Hope you all like the pictures, I started to take videos as they provide more detail with less work.

Gave her a cocktail to help with stress. Added 1st net for lateral support, not so much now, but for later. Blue light is absorbed by photoreceptor proteins called phototropins, which trigger a hormonal response that causes cells on the shaded side to elongate, making the plant bend toward the light. Try and fill this side a little. She is quite big already, just needs to find her stride again after the undue torture. The mind is constantly working and producing, just like a factory. It's not just a passive recipient of information but an active producer of ideas, attitudes, and beliefs. The "ingredients" in this factory are the information you consume, such as books, conversations, and the media you engage with. The "products" are your thoughts, beliefs, and actions. The quality of the ingredients directly influences the quality of the output. 5 apex stems with 20-30 mini cola, let them develop a little, with the apical dominance shattered, all those 20-30 will all compete with each other as soon as that stretch is initiated. Key to a good stretch is making sure the plant is cycling efficiently, with large ATP conversions occurring lights out. For now, keeping light intensity high. A plant will slow its vertical growth in very high light intensities, leading to a more compact form with thicker stems and leaves. This response is a protective mechanism against light stress, which can damage the photosynthetic apparatus and lead to symptoms like leaf scorching, yellowing, and brittleness. Instead of growing taller, the plant invests its energy into creating a more robust, stress-tolerant structure. Providing plants with necessary antioxidants helps protect the photosynthetic apparatus by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) that cause damage from excess light. UV light exposure can impact the xanthophyll cycle by either enhancing its photoprotective role or causing damage, depending on the intensity and type of UV radiation. UV exposure can trigger the synthesis of more xanthophyll cycle pigments to increase the plant's capacity to dissipate excess energy, but it can also cause direct damage, particularly to Photosystem II, and may lead to a decrease in the de-epoxidation state (DEPS ratio) which indicates a reduced capacity to dissipate excess energy. Plants can respond to UV stress by increasing the synthesis of xanthophyll cycle pigments, such as violaxanthin and zeaxanthin, to improve their photoprotective capacity. UV-induced changes in xanthophyll cycle pigments can be linked to a plant's overall tolerance to high radiation stress. The xanthophyll cycle helps protect against photoinhibition, which is especially important when the plant is exposed to high levels of both UV and visible light. High doses of UV radiation can directly damage photosynthetic components, including the proteins, lipids, and pigments in the thylakoid membranes. Exposure to UV radiation can have a mixed effect on the de-epoxidation state (DEPS ratio) of the xanthophyll cycle pigments. In some cases, UV can inhibit the conversion of violaxanthin to zeaxanthin, resulting in a lower DEPS ratio and a reduced capacity for energy dissipation. However, the total pool of xanthophyll cycle pigments may increase, and this enhanced pool size could provide a greater potential for photoprotection despite a lower DEPS ratio. The xanthophyll cycle works alongside other mechanisms, such as the accumulation of flavonoids (UV screens), to protect the plant from UV-induced damage. Blue light repairs 100% UV-induced damage in plants through a process called photoreactivation, which uses a light-dependent enzyme called photolyase. This enzyme uses energy from blue and UV-A light to directly reverse the damaging pyrimidine dimers in the DNA caused by UV-B radiation, a key mechanism for maintaining the plant's genetic integrity. After carbon, light, water, temperature, and nutrients, the limiting factor of a plant's growth is often its own internal factors or the amount of a key ingredient. Chlorophyll concentration is one such factor, as the amount of this pigment limits how much light can be captured for photosynthesis. Other factors include chloroplast number, respiration rate, and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as plants are often in a CO2-deficient condition. 60x60x18=64800seconds x 700 = 45,360,000moles. 45DLI Exposure to 165 µW/cm² of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) light for 3600 seconds = 1 hour, a extremely high, acute dose triggering stress responses and protective mechanisms. . The plant's photoreceptor protein, UVR8, senses the UV-B radiation. This triggers a signaling cascade that activates specific genes to protect the plant from damage. In response to the UV-B signal, the plant ramps up the biosynthesis of protective compounds like flavonoids, phenolic acids, and anthocyanins. These compounds absorb UV radiation and accumulate in the epidermal layers of leaves to shield inner photosynthetic tissues. The plant may increase leaf thickness or deposit more cuticular wax, creating a physical barrier to the radiation. The plant will produce more enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants to neutralize the reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by the UV-B radiation. The plant activates enzymes, including photolyases, to repair DNA damage caused by the UV-B. These repair mechanisms are critical for preventing permanent genetic mutations. While protective measures are activated, a high dose delivered over a short period can cause stress that overwhelms the plant's defenses. Photosynthesis is highly sensitive to UV-B. A high dose can inactivate Photosystem II (PSII), damage thylakoid membranes within the chloroplasts, and reduce chlorophyll content, which lowers the plant's overall photosynthetic capacity. Despite repair mechanisms, high UV-B doses can inflict persistent damage on the plant's DNA. The overproduction of reactive oxygen species can cause oxidative stress, leading to the oxidation of lipids and proteins and disrupting cellular function. I am playing in the enchanted forest. A shift in perspective is what changes perception over time. By deliberately considering a situation from another point of view (perspective), you can challenge your initial, knee-jerk interpretation (perception). This is a valuable skill in both personal and professional life for fostering empathy, improving problem-solving, and making more informed decisions. Move the mind off perception into perspective. Thank you.

Grow on 🌱 🇬🇧 Flower Day 80 | Day 140 total 🌡️ Climate & Environment Temps dropped again outside – clearly noticeable in the tent. Humidity is around 55–60%, so the exhaust is working more actively again. 👉 Overall: cool & humid, but stable. 🌿 Plant Status Triangle Sherbet Kush 🍬 Looks finished for about two weeks now. No fresh pistils, fading leaves – classic end-stage look. 👉 But: trichomes remain mostly cloudy, almost no amber. Stable, but that final ripening step just won’t kick in. White Gushers 33 🍇 Still evolving – but very selectively. Buds are swelling further, but: 👉 not fully milky yet, still some clear trichomes present. New pistils are forming, mainly on foxtailing areas. 👉 That’s the key point: She already looked finished once – but then started pushing again. This foxtailing delays the final ripening, because new, immature parts keep forming. 👉 Most of the plant looks ready – but some areas keep pushing it back. And now the name finally makes sense: 👉 she’s only now turning properly “white”. 👃 Smell Sweet, fruity, slightly creamy with a subtle spicy base. Not overpowering gas – more refined and layered. Also getting a light floral note when opening the tent. ⏳ Ripeness & Timing Main issue: 👉 Still barely any amber. Kush is basically done – but missing the final step. 👉 Gushers is not even fully milky yet and is further delayed by foxtailing. That makes timing tricky: One is already overdue, the other keeps extending itself. Do you experience this too? Looks finished but trichomes stay cloudy almost no amber 👉 Do you wait longer or call it peak? Drop it in the comments how you handle this 👇 Or if you finish earlier than me – 👉 share your tricks 😄 Maybe the solution is simple: just start earlier… 🔜 Outlook I’ll let them run a bit longer. I’ll be away for a few days – so no micromanaging and no constant checking. 👉 Maybe that’s exactly what they need right now. Let them run – and hopefully that final step shows up while I’m gone. Sometimes less control means better results.😉 Grow on 🌱
