I did have one issue, the Drain Petcock on the 25g reservoir was broken during shipping. After a phone call to GrowAce, they had a replacement one on its way to me which I received in just a couple of days! I did however make one addition to the system. I placed a pair of air-stones, one in the Reservoir and the other in the Distribution Bucket to really oxygenate the water. I started all my seeds by first soaking them in tap water for 12 hours, then transferred them into pre-moistened (6.3ph) peat pellets. I placed the pellets in half Solo cups in the tent with 24hrs of light under which they sprouted within 48 hours. I kept the tent temperatures between 80-84℉, the RH at 65-70% and made sure that the pellets stayed moist, not wet. 10/3- All of the Tropicana Cookies are looking healthy and have good color and vigor! I'll be moving them into their fabric pots which have already been pre-moistened in the next day or two, or as soon as I see roots emerging from the pellet. 10/5- Today I moved all three Tropicana Cookies into the fabric pots, adding some Xtreme Gardening's Mykos into each hole before placing the peat pellets. I have the HLG 650R set to 15% and hung 30" from the seedlings. Tent temperatures are 80-84℉ with RH running 65-70%. 10/7- Well there's the first week on the books for these three little ladies and they're looking fantastic. Simply harvest, cut, hang, and dry. So frosty, so crispy. I love it!

When I began the contest I had only grown Magic Melon once before (last winter), it grew in an 18 litre pot, became around 4 feet tall, and completely filled a 3'x3' tent. A friend of mine successfully grew a seed I gave them this summer in a container about 4 litres and the plant was considerably smaller. The fact that it can be successfully grown in less than 250mL is astonishing, I have buds from the one grown last winter that are bigger than the can I grew this one in. Harvested 91 days from sprout.

Week 3 flowering for the Green Papaya from the super sativa seeds club. All looking good at the moment, the buds are showing a nice layer of snow on the buds, very sweet and fruity, we love the Green Papaya. We did a complete defoliation already and will do some maintenance here and there.

Day 40: I returned from a weekend, finding now (luckily) much slower height but an impressive bud growth. Nothing special to report except for I lowered lady #2’s lights a bit. She is now some visible cms behind her sister (who has 83 cm), and maybe that helps to compensate her (still very nice) growth. Gave them another round of fertilised water, still with some HPE, during day 40. I could see in timelapse video they immediately gained fuller leaf positions and some progress. But sadly, as it’s quite warm here, main blower kicked in often, ruining the video to be much too shaky to show. Day 42: Nothing special again. Slow height gain (84 cm), steady bud growth. Day 43: I noticed the lowest leaves getting a bit pale. While this is perfectly ok on one hand – not much light to collect there anyway –, I think I will increase fertiliser portion a bit next time they are thirsty. At the end 85 cm in tallest main bud. Day 44 concludes this week. Not much to report except for what was already said. Slow but steady growth, a tiny bit of yellowing on the very lowest leaves and thirst about 1 l/day. This week was very hot, but the last day brought some cooling. Would be nice to have a timelapse video again that does not look like camera Raspi had Parkinson’s (when main blower is active).

On day 15 I gave her 33cl compared to 25cl/3days as usual. Also expand her surface of watering like that she can make some flat roots. On day 18, 4th and last feeding on this dosage. As for now, the idea's to wait before starting train.

My good friend convinced me that trimming and training are paramount, so I've started with slowly defoliating the Creme de la Chems to try and get to lollipop status. They're just starting to flower, so I figured I could get away with a more aggressive approach. Because I failed to train these girls early, I'm stuck dealing with a little rain forest. What I've tried to do is trace each flower topped stalk up from the base, and trim away from the bottom up. 1/3 of the way up per day. I've now got a thick canopy, and I've been trying to just use leaf tucking and manual manipulation every few hours in order to keep the different height flowering sites in direct light. These ladies have really been thriving, and it's been such a joy to watch them grow! I like having two plants in one net pot letting them grow wild, but I think in my next grow I'll keep it to one per pot and train better from the start. As for the Super Orange Haze ... not as good. I attempted to pull the main branch over to train her to some empty space, but I was too aggressive and ended up popping her head off :(. First grow, first disaster. I took the head and stripped her/coated in clonex and pushed her into some potting soil just to see what would happen. There hasn't been enough foliage to really make me want to do any trimming, I've just tried to tie the stalks off to train them apart. I'm really sad about my mistake decapitation, but she seems to be doing well still. She's probably week 2 of flower based on others' journals. I changed the water midway through the week (which is when the videos were taken). I drained most of the water out, but roots prevented me from getting the last few gallons. When I refilled the res with RO, I measured the PPM at around 200. I have to assume that remaining nutrient was completely unbalanced leftovers, so feeding will have to just have to be experimental. My approach has been to give around 1:1 Gro vs Bloom and Micro every 2-3 days when I refill with RO. I want to build my PPM up to 1000, but slowly so that I can detect if I hit a ceiling first. It's hard to measure how much food is in the water based on PPM. CalMag is what drives it mostly, so I've been using CalMag as a sort of measuring stick. I keep the CalMag pegged to the Bloom food, but I know it's only good for initial dosing. I can't assume the plants are eating CalMag in the same proportion as anything else :(. If anyone has a line on cheap lab testing ... hit me up. I'd love to be able to test a few hundred samples at a time for NPK and trace so that I can tell (even if post facto) what was going on.

When repotting, 2 g of Green House Powder Feeding Bio line were added per liter of substrate :-) . That's enough until the first flowers start 👍. Watering was done twice this week with 0.8 l each. Day 66 : The lady seems to be stabilized with the burns , so i started some juices to her water in order to help her with fattening. Hope to wake her a bit and produce some terpenes. Edit Day 70 : I increased again juices to 3ml / L. Also added 1ml / L CalMag. She started to turn purple.

The A. Gold plants is measuring: 17 inches and received pH balanced water and nutrients/ approximately 34 oz per plant. We’re also trying to keep the humidity down. Normally the Dehumidifier helps a lot but it’s hard to keep down when it’s about to rain outside, hence why this week’s humidity is 81 degrees. Any tips would be helpful.

Some suggestions pointed to a nitrogen deficiency, but I don’t think that’s the case. I applied a good watering with Bactomatik, which contains 2% nitrogen and nitrogen-fixing bacteria. This was already a planned watering, and while the plant started stretching a bit, I haven’t noticed any improvements in leaf coloration yet. I’ll keep monitoring closely to see how it recovers. But If anyone has a suggestion pointing in a different direction, I'm here to listen! 👂 Over the next two days, I’ll start with LST, so that within 1-2 weeks, I can set up the SCROG net.

Hey now, hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying safe. Another great week for the ladies, as they are now about 2 weeks into flower, and the stretch is winding down. I am still feeding them silica, cal mag, and flower nutrients maxi bloom by GHE. I will start to add a PK booster this week. I also will be switching to light from V1 to F1 sometime this week, and also integrating the UV/IR bar into the light cycle later this week. I will run the UV/IR bar for approximately 30 minutes prior to lights off to get started. The 5X5 is really starting to fill up nicely, I am running two dehumidifiers outside of the tent and I am able to maintain around 50% RH in the tent during lights on, and around 55% RH with lights off. Still very happy with the Spectrum X from Medic Grow. I am running her at 90% in the V1 cycle and will be transitioning to the F1 cycle later this week. Overall, the plants seem very happy and healthy. The temperature and humidity is significantly dropping so that helps keeping the tent cool and not overly humid. This is by far the best time of year to be flowering plants in my region.
