🌱 8×8 Adventure – Chem Brûlée (Plant A) | Week 4 Building Strength Before the Fireworks Begin Welcome back to another chapter of my 8×8 Adventure, a project where twelve unique cultivars are sharing the exact same environment while every phenotype is documented individually throughout its entire life cycle. Growing every plant under identical conditions allows each genetic to tell its own story, revealing the subtle differences in growth habits, structure, vigor, and personality that make phenotype hunting such an exciting experience. This week we’re shining the spotlight on Chem Brûlée – Plant A, a lady that has quietly been building an impressive foundation while showing signs that she’s ready to become one of the standout plants in the room. Every update she becomes a little bigger, a little stronger… and a little more interesting. ⸻ 🌿 Life Inside the 8×8 Jungle The environment continues to provide ideal conditions for healthy development across the entire garden. This week the room has been running at approximately: • 🌡️ Temperature: 33.3°C • 💧 Relative Humidity: 63% • ⚡ Nutrient Solution EC: 1.36 mS/cm • pH: 6.12 • 💦 Reservoir Temperature: 25.7°C Despite the warmer temperatures, vigorous airflow keeps fresh air moving throughout the canopy while maintaining healthy transpiration. Every cultivar continues receiving exactly the same care, making the differences between genetics even more fascinating to observe. ⸻ 💧 Feeding Program Chem Brûlée continues receiving the same balanced feeding schedule as the rest of the garden. Nutrition this week: • Plagron Terra Grow • Plagron Power Roots • Plagron Pure Zym • Plagron Vita Race (foliar application) The response has been excellent. Healthy color, sturdy stems, and vigorous new growth suggest she’s making great use of everything available to her. ⸻ 🌱 Growth & Development This lady has really started to find her rhythm. Over the past week she has put on noticeable vertical growth while maintaining a beautifully symmetrical structure. Every new node appears clean, evenly spaced, and packed with healthy growth. One characteristic immediately catches my attention… Those fan leaves. They’re becoming absolutely enormous. Each new set seems broader than the last, creating an impressive solar panel capable of capturing every bit of available light. The leaf color remains beautifully uniform, with rich green tones extending from the oldest foliage right into the newest growth. Structurally she’s also beginning to separate herself from some of the other cultivars in the room. Where others are stretching aggressively or branching heavily, Chem Brûlée seems determined to build a thick, balanced framework first. She feels composed. Confident. Like she’s quietly preparing for something special later in flower. Although she’s beginning to show increasing activity around the upper nodes, I’m still considering her firmly in vegetative growth as she continues investing her energy into building size and strength. ⸻ ✂️ Training & Canopy Management This week has been all about allowing the plant to develop naturally while making only small adjustments where necessary. A little leaf tucking has helped expose developing side branches, allowing more light to penetrate deeper into the canopy without removing valuable foliage. At this stage those massive fan leaves are working in her favor, fueling rapid growth while protecting the young shoots beneath. Sometimes the best training is simply knowing when to leave a healthy plant alone. Right now she’s rewarding that patience. ⸻ 🚀 Looking Ahead I’m genuinely excited to see where this phenotype decides to go. Every week she’s revealing a little more character, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that she won’t simply blend into the rest of the room. With her broad leaves, strong central stem, and balanced branching, I wouldn’t be surprised if she develops into one of the dominant plants inside the tent once flowering is fully underway. For now, the plan remains simple: Continue providing a stable environment. Allow her natural vigor to lead the way. Keep encouraging healthy structure without rushing her development. Sometimes the strongest performers are the ones that spend a little more time building the foundation. ⸻ 💚 Final Thoughts One of the greatest joys of this project is watching every cultivar write its own story. Chem Brûlée isn’t trying to imitate anyone else in the room. She’s growing at her own pace, building her own architecture, and showing characteristics that already make her stand apart from the crowd. Those beautiful oversized fan leaves… The vigorous vertical growth… The healthy, vibrant canopy… Everything points toward a plant with enormous potential. I’m incredibly curious to see how this unique phenotype expresses herself once flowering begins. The journey is only just getting started. ⸻ A huge thank you to Plagron for providing the outstanding nutrition that keeps this garden thriving, Zamnesia for the incredible genetics and equipment helping bring this project to life, and of course to the entire GrowDiaries community for all the support, encouragement, and inspiration throughout this adventure. Growers Love and thank you all for following along with my 8×8 Adventure. I’ll see you in the next update, where Chem Brûlée will continue revealing exactly what she’s capable of. 🌱🔥

A great week. Included a diagram so you can better tell which plant is which. I will be changing that up come flower to better fit the plants so I'll label them later as well. Gonna flip to flower I believe to try and save space. Gonna be tight but wasn't planning that this time. Have to do a lot of training still. Haven't gotten to it due to being so busy with life. I got some BT var israelensis or something close to that for the fungus gnats thanks to @resimax and will test that. Lastly, you might catch a glance at the upcoming diary...

Hey growmies! week 3 of flower flew by, this week is only 6 days, as last weeks entry went on for a day longer. I didn't really touch the flower this week, just let her grow, next week I will probably pluck off some more leaves. feel free to provide input. if you watch the timelapse. you can tell she stops dancing towards the end of the week, so I assume her stretch is as good as over. no real smells yet, just smells like fresh greens still.

Plants came back out of their 36 hours of darkness and were a little droopy, so I made the decision to put them outside for the first day of light. Unfortunately they suffered from wind burn so I brought them back to the tent. Foliar fed the plants daily at 400PPM.

Not much do do this week. Training is mostly done. Don't really have anything to trim as was doing it as I went along. Just need to keep an eye on her. She's starting to flower but it looks like dimming the light affected the stretch. Day 37 - some mild defoliation Day 39 - looks like she's done with her stretch but hopefully she'll grow a bit more.

Hey guys :-) The ladies are developing really well 😊. I'll decide spontaneously whether I'll do topping because I hardly have any space in the flower tent and I'll soon have to set it to 12 / 12 h due to time constraints :-( . But this week they will definitely get the veggie phase. Was poured 1 times with 1 l each (groundwater see description at the bottom) Everything was made clean. Fresh osmosis water is applied and the plants are sprayed and checked. Added another late flowering video for your viewing pleasure. The tent is nice an colorful now, with several plants now showing purpling and yellowing. The first one in the front zoomed in on is Gelato auto and is actually looking frostier than Frostbanger auto. The one on the very right is Pink Rozay auto which will probably be the last to harvest based on still having a lot of loose white pistols. I keep checking the trichomes of Frostbanger since it'll probably be next to harvest based on the most mature trichomes. They're probably 80-85% milky/cloudy but I want them to be at least 90-95% before harvesting. Since today is already the end of week 12, I'm not waiting for amber trichomes to chop, and ideally not past weeks 13 or 14 which would increase risk of herming, potency loss, and/or light stress as I've seen from auto grows in the past.

***Mar 22 Week 2 of flower, looking really good. I made sure to give the reservoir a little extra ppm this time around, because last week the plant ended the week hungry. I put a little extra Plant-Prod in this week, hopefully the extra 300 ppm will be enough this week! I went in and took off some leaves that were blocking the inner nodes, but I didn't take off any small bud sites on the inside *YET* ...I want to wait til stretch is done before taking anything major off, just in case it catches up by then. I will say that it is looking a lot more open now that I took a handful of leaves off. Most of them were overlapping other leaves, or just straight up too big. Others that didn't seem like much of a threat, just got tucked under other branches or leaves. I'm trying to be as hands-off with this grow as I can. Freakshow doesn't seem to like being played with too much. PPM is at 1850 and PH is at 6 Lots of pictures to start this week off, and also a small video to better detail how to plant is growing. I may have to switch CalMag brands by the end of the grow, unless the bottle will last me (I'm sharing my nutrients with my partner), but I don't think that would make too much of a difference, but it's worth noting. I also would like to note that I have not topped, LST'd, or any other training method to be precise, other than taking the top two leaves off as they get too big, I have not done anything else to make this girl get so wide. The canopy has been doing it' all on its own. The roots have been growing around and over the bubbles in the water, making them spread out almost like a cup (my partner has a theory that may be why the plant has been getting wide instead of tall... He believes the plant tends to take on the shape of the container it is it; aka the shape of the roots). I can now confirm that she is a female, as shown in the picture, you can see 2 long pistils coming out! ✊ I think I have the smallest amount of powdery mildew starting, because of the humidity being so high, BUT I have taken all other plants out of the tent, so this freak is all on her lonesome inside the tent now. I have seen an immediate improvement this morning, so I am not concerned over it. Beautiful start of the week, and can't wait to see how it goes the rest of the week! Should expect to see a lot of bushing and hopefully some trichome production by the end of it. Have a wonderful week everyone! 😻 ***Mar 24 Already drank 2 full cups of water (around 2L) and down from 1850ppm to 1600ppm ... oh boy!!! She's so hungry I wonder if I'll be able to keep up hahaha. She's looking really happy and healthy. Roots are still growing like mad. I wanted to trim them, but going to hold off a bit so I don't stress it out. ***Mar 26 ...The amount of water she is drinking is outrageous. I actually had to feed a little bit more nutrients (Plant-prod 15-30-15 about 0.3 tsp to bring the ppm from 1200 to next to 1500 to get through til monday/tuesday) and a sprinkle more of soluble seaweed. I did a little lollipopping tonight as well! Looking much more open and I took out a lot of the small bottom bud sites and leaves that weren't really getting any light. Everything is looking super good, and still no health issues. Doesn't seem to be missing any nutrients, but also doesn't seem to be bothered by having extra nutrients either.

The enormous growth and bud development this week is unbelievable. This strain keeps pushing and pushing, I can see already that these plants will be covered in bud. Also, these plants are in size what my previous photoperiods grow in 8 weeks and some flowering. Really amazing to see. So far my experience with autos has been meh at best. These plants are nothing like that and are resilient and forgiving. The Mars Hydro SP-3000 is now on full blast, it gives me some white pointies and the temps go up in the tent. I'm on the threshold of heat stress and light burn. I'm trying to push it maximally and to get to know the boundaries. Thanks again for checking out my grow!
