Brand X, sometimes passed around as The Ostipow Indica, is a decades-old Michigan heirloom with unmistakably old-school indica charm. Built from a four-way of Afghan #1, Hash Plant, Northern Lights #5, and an Ostipow indica cut, it leans heavily toward the Afghan side (about 90% indica/10% sativa). In the garden it stays short and stout with thick, dark leaves and tight internodes, starting slowly then pushing a compact stretch as flowers set. Expect an average 56-63 days of bloom and medium yields when dialed, whether indoors or out. The nose is classic: deep earth and alpine pine with a cool, hashy mint undertone; on the palate, pine and citrus peel arrive first, followed by a resinous, tar-tinged finish. Potency is variable by cut and grow but typically high, with THC reported from roughly 12.5% up to 28% while CBD remains minimal. The experience is unhurried and body-forward, heavy relaxation that drifts toward sleepiness, often paired with a content, hazy euphoria and pronounced munchies; dryness of eyes and mouth and the occasional wave of paranoia are the most noted downsides. The original breeder is lost to time, and genuine seed or clone releases are rare, preserving Brand X's reputation as a quietly treasured Michigan classic.
