Just broke into the brand new 40 gallons rDWC fallponics system, thanks to PA Hydroponics Battling low humidity and low temps here. germination was slow going for the little ones.
Low humidity continues to be a major obstacle for rapid growth and I discovered on the sixth week that I have been using inkbird incorrectly, I managed to fix that by the end of the week and the results certainty showed for the rest of the grow. Also mainlined all plants.
What a clumsy week, I accidentally broke BCP #2's main stem right down to the middle by pulling the branches down a bit too hard, and I also snapped BCP #3's second branch by accident, fortunately I taped both quickly up with some electrical tape and both seemed to recover nicely albeit slowed growth. Also, gave the ladies a second topping using nebula manifold method.
This week, I learned VPD has a massive impact on growth. I will be utilizing VPD from now and on. I also installed an automatic top-off reservoir to maintain stable water levels.
I assembled an scrog net out of PVC and drilled in eye hooks woven with contractor grade string, it turned out great and was pretty cheap to do. Blue Gelato is growing like a monster, completely opposite compared to the last time, guess I got a giant phenotype this time, sweet!
Flipped on March 31. I had to lower the scrog net to just 10 inches above the base since I realize the others wouldn't make it to the top if I left it at 18 inches. Some plants are showing cal-mag deficiencies, probably from PH fluctuations, so I supplied extra cal-mag and will be maintaining the PH at a range between 5.8 and 6.2 and see if that solves the issue. Growth continues to be phenomenal, especially for blue gelato #41.
Good week, just the plants doing their own thing and filling in empty gaps. I spot a monster cola forming in BCP #3. The water rez system worked beautifully for me as I have a large gravity-fed 30 gal tote attached to the external reservoir which gives the plants nearly two to three weeks of water supply, with PH monitoring/adjusting & regular doses of southern AG
Buds starting to gain weight, unfortunately the Blue Gelato is right at the top, I need to figure out a solution on how to rearrange the carbon filter + fan and so I can strap the lights to the top with zipties. Maybe I could hang it vertical and refit with new vent hoses.
This pheno of blue gelato 41 is very sensitive to PH swings and the miscalculation burnt the plant and it began developing hermie sacks on the bottom branches. I had to clean everything up below a certain point of the plant, meanwhile, all black cherry punch phenotypes is doing very well and hasn't shown any nanners or balls so far.
In fact, I wish I cloned BCP #3, it smells amazing and just like berries. One thing that impresses me is how consistent each phenotypes of black cherry punch is, I can see why quality genetics matter.
Nice and steady week. just the girls doing their own thing. I had to strap one end of the LED to the top of the tent as Blue gelato has gotten way too big for the space. Also, the smell is just simply heavenly and BCP absolutely reeks like the fruity pebbles cereal.
Buds starting to fatten up & BCP #3 showing off amazing colors as we inch nearer to harvest time. Will eliminate gro and reduce micro for the next feeding. The rDWC and the 30 gal connected reservoir really makes things very easy and cut my work load by more than half by not needing to perform manual rez top off.
The tent is starting to stank real bad and the shitty carbon filter is struggling to keep up, might will need to upgrade to a phresh filter at some point soon LMAO.
I also have a strong feeling that this Blue Gelato #41 from Barney's Farm is not actually Blue Gelato #41, the structure and the smell reminds me of Gorilla Zkittlez from the previous batch, I am starting to suspect the seed company might have mixed up the batches.
Otherwise, the buds putting on the frost beautifully, I truly cannot wait for the final product, I estimate the harvest will be on F69 based on the bud growth rate.
Looking good! All phenos of black cherry punch is starting to smell similar to each other - fruity AF. While Blue Gelato #41 is starting to smell like bad morning breath FTW!
Hopefully 1-1/2 more week to go for the harvest!
I failed to scrog the plants properly and as a result the yield was hurt and the buds aren't full as they could have been, in fact I did not even bother to weight the yield for this harvest so the yield is an estimate.
I did not even bother to weight the harvest, so it is an estimate. I failed to scrog properly and my yields suffered as a result. Switching away from DWC for the next grow.
