Germination

After 6 months and too many seeds, I finally got 2 to pop. This will be my 2nd grow, but my first experience with Autos. I'm also slightly nervous about having two to tend to. Given that these look to go seed to harvest in just over half the time of my last grow, I hope I can manage. I see that GD added a germination area with metrics on success since my first grow and I think I'll be perusing the stats on that for a bit to see what I'm doing wrong. These are both autos, unfortunately I let the seeds get mixed up on the counter after I opened the packaging, so I'm not sure which is which, but I definitely have 1 of each. I had planted 3 of each plus 6 other seeds from other breeders, only these two popped. Of my garden seeds, I also only have netted cucumbers so far - I think my issue is over watering the coir/peat/vermiculite seedling mix & I may do away with the heating mat as well. Took about 6-7 days to peak out of the dirt. Since my first grow I have swapped my ViparSpectra 450PAR for a Spiderfarmer SF-2000. All other equipment is the same.

I've put these in 1 gallon air transplant pots. They have Velcro on the side that should allow me to move these ladies into bigger pots in a few weeks with minimal stress. Using Coir, vermiculite, peat moss, and toward the bottom some Fox Farm Ocean Floor is mixed in as well. Put in a small humidifier and the tent is running 50-60% humidity, hoping that'll be fine for them. The SF-2000 is at 50% (from 33%) and I've turned off the 3 40w CFLs I had hanging down for heat/gentle light. Day 3: I've sprouted another what may be purple lemonade. Again, mixed the seeds up so not positive on which strain is which. Day 5: Seemed to be stretching out quickly so I turned up the lights to 80% yesterday. One of these has some weird leaf shape to it, so I hope it's ok? Will likely put the third seedling into 1gal air pot tonight.

They got a little pale on me in the past week, so I started giving them seedling strength fox farms. They seem to be fine now, growing pretty fast. I'm going to be training this week, keep them low as I can. Still a bit nervous about having 3 of these going in a 2x4x5. My last grow was a photoperiod and just about took the whole tent, just the one plant... hoping the autos will stay a bit more compact since I'm not manifolding them. See you next week!

I have defoliated, in that I have removed one leaf each from the two larger plants, this way I can expose the side. I've also tied the plants to the sides of the tent take them out vs up. Trying to avoid the Christmas tree shape but I know you're not supposed to top the autos, so this is my next best approach. You can see what I think is the purple lemonade (#2 of 3 in pictures) is growing in thicker and bushier, some really explosive growth this week alone. The further along LSD (#1 of 3) seems to have more spacing between nodes and a taller structure than the P.Lemon. The runt LSD (3 of 3) is picking up the pace as I've given her the front and center spot in the light. I kinda kept her off to the side a few days longer than necessary I think. Nutrients have only been changed a bit, giving a stronger dose of the FFBB but still a weak mix of the FFGB. Will likely give a stronger dose next feeding with nutrients - I only add nutrients every other watering. I'm thinking this weekend I will need to move the two larger girls into their final 3gl pots. The smaller one seems a week or so behind, so I'll let it stay for another week. Hopefully these 1g velcro transplanting air-pots really do make it easy, hate to stress them out and stunt them. P.S. wow these are thirsty, especially the Purple Lemonade.

Everything appears to be going swimmingly! Shout out to Vivosun and these Velcro sided transplant fabric pots. It really made it easy to roll down the bag and remove the soil and dirt mixture and roots with very minor disturbance. They showed no signs of distress after transplanting. We transplanted the two further along plants, one LSD-25, hereafter 'Lucy', and one Purple Lemonade, hereafter 'Princess'. The smallest / week behind LSD-25 is still in a fabric pot for 2-3 days. I will come back and cap this week off with another photo when we transfer her, hereafter 'Dot'. I'm more confident now that we correctly guessed which strain is which after mixing the seeds up on the counter now too. The 3 gallon pots have a 60:40 soil:coir (coco, w/ perlite) ratio in the bottom, and after I set the 1 gallon root ball in I just filled the sides with more of the coir. The 1 gallon pots were 60:40 (or maybe even 70:30) coir to soil. Princess had a few roots already growing through the bottom of the 1 gal pot, so I could have transplanted a few days earlier I think. Went ahead and did some mild defoliation on both Princess and Lucy, they both seemed to respond well. Though I will say Princess (Purple Lemonade) fights me on the LST way more than Lucy (LSD-25 1 of 2) does. I have not plucked Dot ( LSD-25 2 of 2) yet, but I did bend the stem down and loosely tie it to a leaf below to start growing her out. See you in a few days for a late week update! P.S. Can we talk about the sky rocketing cost of Coco-Coir? Gone up a bit over the past 3-4 years, no? Going to have to switch to the cheap chunks for my outdoor veggie garden. Late week update: I can't find my other 3gal pots, so in an interesting turn of events, the smallest plant is now in the biggest pot, 5gal to be exact. Also, it showed some odd leaf markings and was dry, especially near the bottom. I pruned those when I repotted. Everything looks ok next morning.

Catch up week: forgot to post last week. Here are the pics. Starting to flower, growing nice, taking fox farms tiger bloom now. Stretching pretty vigorously - went ahead and dropped the net down on Princess and Lucy (the largest two) Dot (week or two behind the others) is still not getting any serious phosphorus yet. Will likely defoliate her tomorrow and LST a bit, she's barely been trained at all yet. Will give more in depth review tomorrow to cap off week 6.

Some mild defoliation where necessary, the net helps with the LST, I just keep spreading them out the best I can. Shoulda called this diary three is a crowd... Lucy (LSD) and Princess (P.Lemon) are both taking tiger bloom, but Dot (LSD) is not yet - she is just starting to show some pre-flowers now, so probably the next watering with nutrients - only every other watering has nutrients. Hoping these dark bud colors mean I've rolled purple phenotypes!

Unsure what this issue might be. PH seems in check going in and out. Getting mainly Fox Farms nutrients - got very weak doses of B-52 and CalMag a week or two ago. The other two plants are fine.

Looks like a straight up calcium def bro cal and mag def go hand in hand just top cal mag every feed brah and you should be sweet as your going through this stage of flower you have obviously upped the light intensity as you should but the closer the light the more it burns through its chlorophyll easier amd cause she is in flower you up the p and k as you should but more o and k means the harder it is for the girl to take up cal and mag so you need to up the cal mag that's all but you should be close to flush and harvest soon so not really to much to worry about just a heads up for next time brah keep up the good work brah

Sorry folks, another catch up week as I was away for work for a bit. Will post week 8 later today as well with more details. Here are pics of how they did while I was gone. Finally nailed down what I think was wrong with Lucy, will elaborate in week 8 post later today.

I think I've nailed down what was going on. I think the Ph was too low when it went into flowering phase. I recalibrated my tools, put in some 8.0 water, tested run-off at 6.5 (!!), ppm was in line with what I was expecting still (around 700 - base input was ~110). I've adjusted my nutrient & acid input and pH levels are closer to where she should be now. They look better in that they aren't getting worse... Dot (front center LSD-25) is seemingly unaffected by the swing (but she wasn't getting the same mix) and will be the largest harvest of the 3 now (she is only a week behind the others in germination if I recall correctly, but she is several weeks behind in flowering) much to my delight - can't call her the runt anymore 😂 Lucy (back left mangled LSD-25) is hanging in there the poor thing... buds still looking healthy as far as I can tell, beautiful purple colors, starting to fatten up a bit. Princess (back right Purple Lemonade) looks less worse for the wear than Lucy, and is also looking like she is ripening well.

Alright, so I've been cooking the leaves and botching the pH. So doing great! I have the lights at 65% and Dot has recovered from starting to bleach. No recovering from the heat stress and foxtailing on the other two, hopefully it doesn't hurt the two back girls too much. They are starting to show recovery in the fattening process. Lucy and Princess should be ready in 1-2 weeks I would think. Dot has some time left. I'll be away again for a week for work (how do people grow more than a few plants!?) and my wife will be watching them. See ya'll in a week.

Watering with just plain pH'd water for the back two, they should be ready to harvest next weekend. Looks like maybe 10% of the trichomes are left to turn. Then it'll just be Dot in her 5gal for however much longer.

Purple Lemonade turned out fantastic, very sweet and lemon upon dry, still need to cure. Seems to pack quite the punch and have more of a cerebral high.

Remaining LSD-25 to be cut down next weekend likely. Having to get a bit creative with my height levels. Here are some glamor shots of the two harvested: one LSD and one Purple Lemonade.

This will be the last week before harvest, the remaining LSD is very sparkly, though not the purple color her sister was. It looks like I cannot split harvests of the same strain on GD, so I will have to remove and re-add the harvest from the first LSD combined with this I suppose. See you all in a few weeks when she's cut and dry.

Harvested Lucy - LSD-25 (one of two - the other will be harvested next week) has wonderful aromas expected of it's moniker, and the taste isn't too far off from how it smells. Happy to have pulled purple phenotypes on one of the two LSD's and the one Purple Lemonade I had. Netted just under 2 ounces on each of the first two plants. Definitely more of a body high, but not over-whelmingly couch locky or anything. 7/17 - the 2nd LSD is dried and in jars, here is an update in that. 54g on the 2nd plant and though it is more green, it does have some purple peppered in. The second one smokes the same but definitely stronger and a mix of body and head vs the first one. Very happy with the FB genetics.
