Week ending 21/04/21
Tried germinating 6 seeds in my heated propagator quite unsuccessfully.
4 seeds germinated (1 GGA, 2 SBA & 1 ZA).
After a week I removed the the ungerminated SBA and ZA seeds from the peat pellet to inspect. The SBA was black and hard but the ZA looked healthy.
I retried the ZA and also added another GGA to the propagator. Ideally, I want 6 plants total come harvest time. We'll see...
From the previous diaries I upgraded my veg cupboard setup;
- I swapped the basic 130w CFL for a Mars Hydro TS600.
- I added a thermostatically controlled tube heater.
- I added a Gorilla humidifier.
This should fix the heat fluctuations and control and maintain the RH%.
It'll be interesting to see how the plants respond to an improved set up.
For the flower tent;
- I added a Migro Aray 8 (480w).
Again, I'm expecting big improvements on the performance of the basic HPS lighting and not having to wrestle with crazy heat fluctuations.
Week ending 28/04/21
Of the initial 3 Strawberry Bananas, 2 Zkittles and 1 Gorilla Glue I tried to germinate 1 Strawberry Banana seed turned black and died, another germinated only to die at about 2cms in height and 1 Zkittle didn't fire up but looked fine when I removed it from the peat pellet.
That left me with 3 out of 6 seeds entering veg. I retried the Zkittle with success and another Gorilla Glue also with success. That brought me up to 5 plants in veg.
The upgrades to the veg cupboard are already making life so simple. No overheating/underheating issues or fluctuating RH%.
The initial 3 seeds have a bit of a head start on the 2 replacements but my plan is to scrog for the first time which means canopy height differences won't factor.
Week Ending 03/05/21
Another week plain sailing. Temperature and RH is very stable. However, Zkittles is a midget! Not sure what's gone wrong but I'll let her hang in there for now.
Just some light watering for now. Next feed, I will give the three bigger plants some nutes and filtered water for the smaller ones.
It may be too early to judge but I'm pretty sure the new Mars Hydro ts600 is reducing growth in height. I'll see how they respond when comes to the stretch. My other live diary has a beast of a Girl Scout Cookie at 110cms but she's really stringy!
Week ending 12/05/21
Still rotating the girls position with the cupboard and turning their pots by 90 degrees.
The three that were planted first continue to grow vigorously while the other two are less feisty.
Temp and RH are nicely stabilised.
I gave the big three their first nutes this week in less than half the recommended dosage.
It's a complete soil, so I'll just have one shot of nutes this week and increase that next week. Water should be fine for now.
Started some LST on the big three in advance of my first scrog attempt when they reach the flower tent.
Week Ending 19/05/21
The plants continue to grow vigorously.
Alternating feeds with nutes.
The tallest plant is 52cms.
They really need to move to the flower tent but the previous grow isn't ready to be cut.
Hopefully, next week...
@myrceneCB1, great! I'm going to scrog my next run. Can't wait to see the carpet of buds 😀. Good luck with the rest of the grow. I'll be watching on with keen interest!
@myrceneCB1, thanks! I was checking your grows out earlier. Looks like a great piece of kit and far better than my basic HPS bulb. It hasn't arrived yet but hopefully early next week. That will be long before the newest crop is ready for the flowering tent. I'm going to install it right away and finish the current flowering crop of girl scouts and a white widow. Did you notice a big increase in yield?
@Fast_Buds, thanks! I also have 2 x GSC auto a few weeks out from harvest. Looking forward to sampling your stuff for the first time 😀. As well, 6 x PP auto are due for delivery any day for the next germination in 3-4 weeks. Keep up the good work!
