Time to try another one of Barney's fine strains. I heard a lot about Watermelon Zkittles and thought I would give them a try. I'll be using True Plant Science products again and hopefully will have the same results like my last 2 grows.
The girls are up and looking great. They still are under a humidity dome for couple more days. I'll transplant after 2 complete set of leaves.
WZ#2 unfortunately took a bad turn and died on me 😭😥. WZ#1 is growing great and I have a backup that has germinated and is in a container waiting to make her appearance. No nutes just phed water with Mycorrhizae. They will be moved to a 2 gal pot for the remainder of their grow.
Day 10: WZ#1 was transplanted into a 2 gal container while the new WZ#2 is about 7 days behind and still in so lo cup.
The start of week 2 and WZ#1 is doing great. Little Sis WZ#2 is coming along nicely, just transplanted into her final home container. Still just PHed water with Silica and Mycorrhizae, the FF Ocean Forest provides plenty of nutes for the first 3 weeks or so.👍
Day 18 and the girls are growing daily. WZ#2 is really trying to catch her big sis WZ#1. Both are still just getting PHed (6.5) water with Silica and Mycorrhizae.
Day 21 starting week 3 of life... WZ#2 is a week behind big sis WZ#1. They are really growing and just loving their environment. Still no nutes just Silica and Mycorrhizae in PHed water.
Day 23- The girls are growing and filling out daily. Today I noticed WZ#2 leaves are fat and wide like a indica plant and WZ#1 has long slender leaves like a sativa plant. Time will tell.🌱😎👌
Week 4 starting with no real problems. Light defloiation and LST on WZ#1. Nothing on WZ#2....this girls leaves are 3 times bigger than big sis WZ#1. Definitely the indica side coming thru on this hybrid. I may try to start some nutes in a few days at 1/2 strength.
Day 31 found a slight yellowing on WZ#1....will keep an eye on it. Light defloiation and LST on WZ#2 to open and even her out.
Day 35 and the first week of flower. WZ#2 isn't quite at the flower stage yet. She's starting to show her female parts. WZ#1 is really showing some strange phenom that I don't understand. Since both plants are on the same feeding schedule I know it's not a deficiency from anything I'm doing. WZ#2 is starting to out grow her sister. I'm going to keep a close eye on her and time will tell. I still have big hope for her.
Day 38....the air temp is higher each day. Staying around 31°C, so I'm taking the girls outside each day for some real sun and fresh air. Put them back in their house at night for safety. They seem to like it pretty well so far. Both of them are in the flower mode. WZ#2 will definitely outgrow big sis WZ#1.
Day 42 and WZ#2 has really stretched outward. She is 1 week younger than WZ#1 and twice the size. This grow had to move outside because of the crazy early season heat we have been experiencing. Outside they get a cool breeze and some afternoon shade. I think they should finish up nicely out in the fresh air. Also give my utility a break....lol👍
Day 48 and the girls are loving their new surroundings. WZ#2 which I call the beast has exploded with growth. She is 1 week younger than her midget sister WZ#1. WZ#1 is packing on the buds and starting to show signs of frosty trichomes. 😎👌
Start of week 7 and the weather is still pretty warm. Luckily we have a nice off shore breeze that the girls seem to like. WZ#2 doesn't seem like she wants to quit growing while big sis WZ#1 thinks she is a Japanese Bonsai plant. WZ#1 is getting pretty frosty and buds are very dense. Overall I'm very pleased with the way this grow is going outside. 😎👌
Day 52 and the girls are chilling outside and enjoying the fresh air and sun. WZ#2 has finally stopped stretching and is filling out her buds. WZ#1 is just getting more frosty every day.
Week 9 Day 56 and WZ#1 looks like she has around 1 week left on her midget life. She never grew big but her buds are rock solid, sticky and smells like heaven. She may have been a problem child but she is making me proud of her. WZ#2 is just bulking up. She has a while left to her life cycle.
Stay tuned....🌱😎👌
Day 60 and the trichomes on WZ#1 are just about where I like them for harvest. I'll give her couple more days to be safe and then it's to the drying room for her. 🌱😎👌
Day 63 and WZ#1 is off to the harvest house. Little sis WZ#2 is still truckin' on and liking the outdoors. I had to add a few extra supports for her side branches that are getting heavy with their colas. I will update on what WZ#1 produces after the harvest.
Week 9 Day 64 and WZ#1 has gone to the harvest house to hang around for a week or so. She was a problem child to start with and with death she continues her sorrows. While I was trimming her for hanging I noticed a very small amount of bud rot on couple of her lower side colas....go figure. Even after cutting away all the bud rot I could find, She still gave me a very nice wet weight of 198.25 grams of bud and 17 grams of trim. This is from a plant that never got over 34 cm. I am very happy to say the least. Now little (BIG) sis WZ#2 has so much weight on her branches I had to add additional supports due to the high winds and rain we have been getting here. She looks like she may have 2 more weeks in her life cycle but we will see. 😎👌
This was definitely a tough grow with the crazy weather we have been experiencing. It was too hot for my grow tents indoors so I put them outdoors so the wind and sun could do it's magic.... nothing but high winds and rain for the most part....go figure. Anyway WZ#1 harvested last week and it is now dry and curing. I had to do a quick harvest on WZ#2 because we have some bad weather with more rain coming in and I don't want to chance it getting bud rot from the high humidity and no real sunlight. The pheno of WZ#1 was a bit strange. She never got any taller than 31 cm but she gave me 41 grams of dried bud to use. WZ#2 came in with 475 grams wet buds and they were big, sticky and dank, not too fruity like I thought it would be. Time will tell on the smoke report. Thanks Barney's for some more great strains. I will update this journal when I get the final dry weight and smoke a little.😎👌
This will be my last grow until fall because of the high temps and crazy weather we have been having. I really like to be able to control the plants environment and it has been really hard this summer. I have some new Sweet Seeds strains and also some FemaleSeeds to try out. Thanks for all of your support and kind words during this grow. Peace🙏 and grow on. 😎👌
Final update on dried weight: 128 grams of dried bud from both plants. WZ#2 gave me 97 grams of fine medicine to use. All of the flowers are now curing but I had to sneak a few bowls to check her out and she did not disappoint. Without any cure time the smoke was smooth and had several flavor tones to her. I didn't have a lot of hope for this grow because of the heat and humidity but they came through and blessed me with some fine rewards. I will definitely grow this strain again when I can control their environment better. That's all for this grow....see everyone on the next grow this fall. Peace✌️😎👌
