Popping 2 Strawberry Pie and 2 Purple Lemonade autos, both from Fast Buds. One of the two SP seeds didn't germ so I popped a new one that will be pictured later.
First plant that germinated is in solo cup and doing well. Second seed cracked got put in paper towels and ended up cracking on 4/26, got put into rapid rooter the next day.
SP1 got popped out of one of it's solo cups and into it's final home (5 gal fabric pot with FF Happy Frog and Nature's Living Autoflower super soil in bottom 1/3), SP2 went from rapid rooter into it's final home (same as SP1). With this hopefully being an all organic grow, I gave each plant some Recharge, Fish Shit and Mammoth P...I've read multiple things about using Mammoth P from the beginning and then just waiting till flower, we'll see how it goes!
5/4 update: SP1 is coming along nicely and SP2 is playing catchup. Hoping for some LST on SP1 towards the end of next week but we shall see. No issues thus far.
5/6 update: End of week two and both ladies are coming along. SP2 is still playing catchup and SP1 is getting bent over in the morning!
Started LST on SP1 on 5/7 and it took it's first tie down very well. SP2 is still coming along and just playing catchup. I'm hoping for enough growth to start LST on SP2 by the end of this week or beginning of next. We shall see.
5/13 update: ladies are still coming along, did another little bit of lst on sp1 this evening and increased the lights a tad bit to 40%, about to cut down on lights to 20/4 or 18/6. I was hoping I would be able to start LST on sp2 this week but not enough growth. sp2 is coming along, just slower than sp1 (sp2 didn't start in a solo cup since it was started late). I'm not worried about anything yet, hopeful everything keeps coming along nice and easy!
Very happy so far with both of these ladies. SP1 is obviously much larger than SP2 since it had a little over a week head start, but SP2 is coming along nicely. Begun tying down SP2 this week and did a bit more LST on SP1. SP1 is a damn bushy little lady, I have a couple Purple Lemonades running next to these two and they are much easier to train with longer stems and less bushy leaves, however LST is still easily doable with the Strawberry Pies so far. I plan on keep on keeping on for now, currently debating whether to top dress with some NFTG One Shot or another dry amendment when ladies go into flower or if I will look into just using compost teas with some extras (recharge and mammoth p), we shall see!
5/20 update: all the ladies are doing well. SP2 is still growing at a slower pace than SP1 did but I figure it will start growing very rapidly! Only difference other than the week or so apart is that SP1 was started in a solo cup. Still doing LST wherever possible. I did break the main top off of SP1 a couple days back but it is growing alright even after this mistake. Fingers crossed!
Great growth from both ladies so far this week. Just added 1 tsp Roots Organic Grow to SP2 and 1 tsp Roots Organic Bloom to SP1, both got some of the RO CalMag supplement as a preventative. Still doing LST pretty aggressively on both ladies, I will start easing up on the LST on SP1 before long. After the accidental topping that SP1 got, it hasn't skipped a beat and is still growing very well...just hoping the top won't hurt the yield too much.
5/27 update: SP2 is taking off and about to start preflower, starting to see a couple white pistils! SP1 is getting some stretch going, the accidental topping it received made her grow out very quick. Ever hopeful for these two ladies.
5/31 Update: Top dressed with 2 tsp of Roots Organic Uprising Bloom (SP2 got grow since it is still vegging) and watered with plain water. Both ladies will get Recharge and Fish Shit next watering (unless I make some compost tea) for them. Both plants are growing wonderfully, I am glad I didn't worry too much about the accidental topping of SP1, I lost the main cola but got a lot of growth from side branches so hopeful I won't lose too much in terms of yield. No issues at all with this one.
SP2 is starting to really get some good growth right now, constant LST and constant new growth. Next week I will switch to just Bloom dry nutes or go half and half if SP2 has barely started to preflower. I noticed some pistols today so I will probably transition into flower dry nutes. These two plants are just growing so well, hope it keeps up!
6/3 update: Both ladies are growing strong, SP1 is starting to really just focus on flower and SP2 is stretching very nicely with many bud sites showing up. Both ladies are getting their first compost tea early next week!
6/10 update: Both ladies got their first compost tea, a little late but better late than never. SP1 is in full on flowering and I will probably let it start to just do it's own thing while I tuck leaves and expose as many bud sites as possible, as I don't think I will be defoliating or trimming at all. SP2 is a bit further behind where SP1 was at the same point in it's life, I think this is because I've been much more aggressive with tying down and performing LST, I also didn't break the main cola on SP2...regardless, she is growing absolutely wonderfully and I believe she will be a beast! Both plants are coming along excellently and I'm not having any issues, I will continue tying down SP2 slightly and will probably introduce bloom amendments with grow next week for SP2. Contemplating adding coconut water and maybe aloe into the bene's feed once a week...we shall see!
6/16 update: SP1 is growing very nicely, starting to show some calcium deficiency which is causing problems with phosphorus uptake I believe, so I'll start supplementing with some form of dry amendment again and maybe water in some epsom salts. Other than this, she's growing wonderfully. SP2 started getting bloom dry amendments and is just growing wonderfully well, albeit a little slower than some Mephisto's I also have running. Nothing much to complain about, very very hopeful that this one will end well!
6/24 update: ladies are thriving. 1 had some calcium issues but I believe they have been fixed. Lowered amount water at each watering so that I could water more frequently. Added in the Elemental for calmag supplement and also started adding SLF-100 on it's own watering day once per week. 2 hasn't shown any real deficiencies or had any problems and 1 has only been minor. I've definitely been learning and changing things as this run has progressed. 1 is starting to thicken up a little and i'm good with it, 2 should end up to be a bit more substantial than 1, we'll see!
7/1 Update: Ladies are coming along nice, 1 is about ready to come down and I'll probably chop her in a couple days. 2 is still coming along nicely and is stacking up a bit nicer than 1, so hopefully that means it'll yield a bit more. Both ladies have grown very similarly and not much, if any pheno variation between the two. No fruity smells yet but it has a very nice and almost musky aroma.
7/8 update: 1 was harvested on 7/3 and is almost done drying at which point I'll finish trimming and cure for at least 2 weeks before I sample (I might press a little rosin after RH stabilizes in jar) before I update with that. 2 has been growing very well, 2 is stacking a bit better than 1 and should yield a bit more. On 7/4, 2 got moved into the other setup so that new round of plants can come into tent. As a result, 2 is now under light 24 hours per day but she hasn't shown any signs of stress or unhappiness from the move yet. Figuring 2 has at least 2 more weeks left in her before harvest but we shall see!
7/15 update: Little lady is still chugging along, leaves are starting to fade and die and she's getting close. She took well to the environment change...main difference being more space and a bit more powerful and nicer light (Timber 3vl now, was a spider farmer sf2000 and autoCOB's). Cut feed in half this week for dry amendments and not going to feed anymore else. I will continue adding bennies and watering in since I will reuse soil and continuing care of the soil should help for next round.
Plant 1 that's been harvested and about 4 days thru cure has had about 10g pressed into rosin. Return was a bit wet as the buds probably weren't dry enough to press but after letting it sit out for a day, was able to collect and pulled ~20%. The rosin from the Strawberry Pie has been absolutely amazing and I am so happy to be working with fresh flower for my rosin...these two test presses resulted in the best rosin I've made to date (been pressing for a little over a year). I'm hoping that by the time #2 is ready to harvest, #1 will be almost done with 2 week cure so I will be able to update harvest report on this grow in the next couple few weeks!
7/22 update: Cut off the dry amendment feedings and just watering in bennies and plain water. She's getting very close, small amount of fox tailing has begun but buds are still swelling up and growing. I am monitoring trichomes every other day or so and still have plenty of clear. I am hoping this one will be ready by the end of next week or shortly thereafter....as this lady was a week and a half to two weeks behind the other, this lady is really currently only on week 10-11 I think. Rosin that has came from #1 has been wonderful, 2 week cure is almost up on her and I plan to give her a test vape before locking her up for another month or so for a longer cure. I've been pretty impressed by the Strawberry Pie Auto from FastBuds thus far, much much better than the Purple Lemonade run!
7/29 Update: #2 is still coming along, she started having a little bit of foxtailing from heat and light stress but that has been corrected and hopefully this lady will be ready this week! #1 has been sampled in vape and also rosin and it has been quite pleasant. I'm very happy with this strain thus far!
