It is early September and I believe the plants starting to put some pistils out. I should see the early signs of flowering any day now. My next post will include some pictures since there will be noticeable growth even after the damage from earlier this summer from thunderstorms

I have the UTMOST sympathy for you... And can relate to your woes... even here in the Northeast, it's been one terrible TERRIBLE summer for growing outdoors - and, like you, I've vowed I'm never going to do it again. Bud rot got me... and we NEVER have humid weather except for a random day here and there... but not THIS summer!
Kudos to you for not just deleting your diary... I didn't delete my two that succumbed to bud rot... folks needs to know that sometimes you fail and that's ok... ESPECIALLY when Mother Nature is clearly to blame. I'm picking myself up after a dismal summer and starting again - INDOORS!
