I like to use the cup of water for 24 hours (48 hours if needed but no longer) then straight into medium once the bean has cracked and is shooting out a tiny taproot method.. I know she successfully germinated due to the taproot obviously growing.. So I put them straight into the medium and place a clear cup over each of them to create the humidity dome effect.. Lol.. Works great.. 100% germ rate so far.. I used to use paper towel method, and it worked fine for a few months.. but then one random whole 2 weeks went by where I just couldn't get 1 single bean to pop.. All kinds of genetics.. Even tried fresh bag seeds.. Nothing.. So I started the cup of water for 24 hours (48 hours if needed but no longer) then strain to medium once the bean has cracked and is shooting out a tiny taproot method... Lol.. Yup.. That's what I call it.. But yeah, these girls are sitting under the SLIM 320H by OPTIC LED in 5 gallon plastic pots in coco/perlite and I will be using General Hydroponics Flora Series along with some supplements.. I PLAN ON watering 1 plant daily and watering the 2nd plant the next day... In a water, feed, water, feed patteren.. Anyways.. Will be updating as I go! Both girls should be born in the next 2 or 3 days!
And 3 days later...
2 stars have been born! They should both be straightened up by later today.. This is so awesome! I am so excited to see what this light can do and see my 2nd (and 3rd) ever ETHOS strains! I hear the ETHOS Cookies should be pretty epic.. And Mandarins just sound AWESOME!.. So fucking excited! Lol...
I also went ahead and wet the medium pretty good and added a tad bit of Floralicious Plus and MYCO+ (which isn't in the GrowDiares nutrient list).. PH'd the water to 6.3. Mixed it all in 1L and gave each pot half.. Just trying to condition the medium a little.. Should have added some CALiMAGic too but it can stillbe added in next watering/feeding..
I went ahead and stopped using the Master Controller.. When the power goes out, it automatically goes OUT of "Timer Mode" and reboots STRAIGHT to power ON at 10%.. This would be all fine and dandy with an auto or just in veg.. But damn.. I believe a back-up battery would fix the issue.. But whatever.. I'm just going to use my old timer and use the dimmer on the light.. But that dimmer only goes to 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, and Master Controller Mode.. So no in betweens.. But I can live with that.. Adjusting the light a little (if it's even needed) is fine by me.. Still a bad ass light and I can't wait to see it work its magic on these ladies!!!. One plant is up right at this point.. The 2nd is still kinda leaned over... I didn't plant them deep at all.. So maybe they are a little underdeveloped??? Idk.. But at this point I'm just misting them and the medium around them.. I want to let the medium dry out a little from time to time to help build a bigger root system.. Plus, I'm using these plastic pots instead of the fabric pots.. That's gonna take a little getting used to, for me.. Lol.. Updating tomorrow with the beginning of these ladies.. Haven't done a grow diary with 2 strains before.. Lets see how this goes!!!.. Lol
Can't seem to shake my acidic reused coco/perlite mix.. Ph going in is 6.2 - 6.3... Runoff is coming out 5.8 - 5.9.. Ive even ran 6.5 thru the mediun and still coming out at 5.8 - 5.9.. Should I try 7.0??? Help please!!!
I think this is problem with coco buffer. Try to use more cal-mag and change your nutrient solution. Lower potassium, raise cal-mag.
Problems with coco pH - always about wrong watering and wrong composition of the nutrient solution.
p.s 5.8 pH its not bad for vegetation.
@Ezzjaybruh,
You would think.. maybe the chemical compounding wont allow it? Maybe that why damnnear all the other companies have the same exact ratios? Idk.. could be a possibility
Get a flood and drain table set up. Did soil for 6 years. All ph problems and lockouts and deficiency dissapears with a resevoir. I let mine go for 2 weeks at a time without changing. Couple airstones ph to 5.9 and my plants are bushier and greener and healthier than ive ever laid my eyes on. Would never go back to soil or coco.
@MackMurder, I don't think I have enough room for ebb and flow. Unless I really cram it all in there. I have been thinking of trying DWC tho. Just 5 gallon buckets with plenty of bubbles. Same nutes minus the organic stuff.. still using the hydroguard.
