You hear a lot about the spectacular weed from Canada's west coast so when I came across this breeder from Nova Scotia I was more than intrigued. I just had to order up some of their souvenirs and see what kind of memories I could make. For this round we'll be growing Pineapple Skunk and Scotian Gold from EC Genetics.
Pineapple Skunk
A bud with a very complex flavor profile, this indica-leaning hybrid is a cross between Pineapple, Skunk, and rare pure 100% indica we like to keep secret. Pineapple Skunk’s is one of those tangy, tropical smokes. Her flowers give off the unmistakable scent of tropical citrus, with some accents of pineapple. THC levels on this one have been measured between 24% and 27%.
Scotian Gold
OG Kush meets Durban Poison made up this beauty. This combo comes together amazingly to create a very special strain yields big, tastes great and is an ease to grow. The perfect blend for those who need to impress company! THC: 22% - 26%
Soaked seeds for 12 hours and gave them the paper towel treatment - nice little taproots appeared within 36 hours. Dropped into peat plugs and sprouts appeared within 24 hours. Transplanted them into a 6" net pots yesterday on D6 from seed.
Looking forward to growing both of these strains!
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
I was away for a few days last week so the girls were a little neglected. Showing signs of calcium deficiency I think. I'll boost MagnifiCal and see if things improve.
Both plants are on the move now that roots have pushed through the net pots.
The Pineapple Skunk's roots were very late to push through and I thought she might not make it - her bottom leaves looked a mess. She's looking much better now - just lagging behind the Scotian Gold.
The Scotian Gold is looking healthy and wonderful. I hope she keeps doing what she's doing.
Until next week 👋
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Good week for both of these east coast bred lovelies.
Pineapple Skunk
-----------------
Height: 7"
The Pineapple Skunk is looking much better now that her roots have finally established and has started to take off. She's still lagging behind her tent mate but she's headed in the right direction now. Her lower leaves are bearing the scars of a previous deficiency but new growth is looking good so I'm hoping those problems are behind her now. I'll be giving her a saucy pinch (FIM) later this week.
Scotian Gold
-------------
Height: 8"
The Scotian Gold is growing with gusto and is looking lush. I FIMed her yesterday (D28 from seed). The plan is to get both these girls nice and branchy before wrestling them into the ScrOG. 🤼♀️
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Both plants are growing very well. They both got rez changes today - the first in about 2 weeks. I've been feeding very lightly to this point and both plants are showing signs of a calcium deficiency. I bumped up the Magnifical (along with everything else) with the rez change; raising the EC from .5 to about 1.1.
I did a little cleanup of the browning lower leaves on the Pineapple Skunk but no significant defoliation of either plant at this point. The Scotian Gold is getting very thick and bushy and I may thin her out a bit before I flip the lights later this week. Once the plants stretch a little more I'll flatten them out and get them into the ScrOG.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Some solid growth from both plants this week. The Scotian Gold is the bigger of the two plants and was about 19" tall pre-ScrOG. The Pineapple Skunk is a couple of inches shorter at 17" tall. ScrOG day today with both girls getting the pancake treatment and their main stems super-cropped. Canopy height post ScrOG is about 13".
I've been feeding EC .9-1.0 but will be introducing bloom nutes with top-ups this week. 12/12 light schedule begins today. Looking forward to the next phase 👍
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
First week of flower and the girls are looking pretty good. Looks like I'm working with another beast and a bit of a runt.
The Scotian Gold has exploded and is really broadening her horizons on her side of the tent. Super vigorous growth as she begins the stretch. I did a bit of defoliation earlier in the week - trimmed away some lower branches and plucked a bunch of inner leaves blocking bud sites.
The Pineapple Skunk is going to need a boost to get her tops even with the Scotian Gold. A bucket raising is imminent. She had a little spotting on some of her leaves but I'm hoping the addition of bloom nutes last week will help take care of that. She's looking o.k. otherwise but no where near the size of her tent mate.
It's been a moist and muggy summer and humidity levels are typically soaring during my summer grows (65%+) so I finally broke down and bought a dehumidifier. What a difference maker! So far, a very worthwhile investment.
Until next week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The girls have settled in and are really filling out the tent now.
The Scotian Gold is 30" tall, putting on 6" since last week. She's really spread out impressively and has lot's of nice looking tops.
The Pineapple Skunk is about 25" tall and is my spotted leaf problem child this run - I get one every time. Her PH may have been running a little high so I've been trying to keep it closer to 6.0. She looks like she may be turning the corner. 🤞 I'll be whining about it here next week if she doesn't 😂
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Mostly good in this indoor hood.
The Scotian Gold is growing like a beast. She put on another 8" this week and is 38" tall now. She kept me busy this week pruning branches as she had a ton of new undergrowth that needed to be taken care of.
The Pineapple Skunk is 28" tall and growing well but I'm not sure if her problems are behind her or not. She has leaves that bear signs of a possible calcium or magnesium deficiency but I'm not certain. New growth 'looks' ok but I'm always second guessing. I gave her a rez change this week but I probably should have taken the time to give her a 24 hour flush. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Good week of growth in the tent. The Scotian Gold continues to be the shining star and stretched quite a bit more than the Pineapple Skunk. My canopy has a definite slope to it now - I'll have to see what I can do about boosting the Skunk's bucket some more.
I cut out a fair bit of undergrowth from the Scotian Gold - she's incredibly branchy with bud sites a plenty.
The Scotian Gold is progressing nicely - just not as nicely as tent mate 😉
Looking forward to the bud show.

All good with these EC Genetics.
The Scotian Gold is growing really strong and developing some impressive Christmas tree shaped buds. I've been feeding her at 700-750 PPM (EC 1.4-1.5) and she seems quite content in that range. She drinks heavily, typically consuming 3-4 litres/day. She's getting some stink on her now - quite pungent; almost cheese like at this stage.
Although not as impressive in stature as the SG, the Pineapple Skunk is doing well. I raised her bucket another couple of inches earlier this week to get her canopy a little more even with the Scotian Gold. She has a much smaller bud structure by comparison but it looks like they should be tight and frosty. Her fragrance is very subtle at this point. She's being fed similarly to the SG but she is not nearly as demanding with her feedings, consuming about 1 litre/day.

Cruising along but still some issues at play. A bit of rusty spotting starting to show on the Scotian Gold's leaves - as always, it appears to be showing signs of a calcium deficiency - upped the Magnifical to see if that takes care of things. I'm feeding at about 720 PPM but both plants seem to settle in around 800 PPM after a day. PH has been between 6.0 - 6.5 through the week. Buds on both plants are developing nicely.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Girls are looking a little rough. A lot of rusty leaves in the tent. I think both plants were suffering from lockout so both got a 24 hour plain water flush. EC was spiking to 1.6-1.8 prior to the rez change - both plants around 1.0-1.2 on a lower dose of nutes now.
The Scotian Gold has some lovely big buds and they're getting riper with more red hairs starting to appear.
The Pineapple Skunk is really wearing her battle scars. I owe her another run under better conditions. She's got some nice looking, fragrant buds, but she won't be busting my scales.
A couple of more weeks to go. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Took a few days off to get away with my Mrs. so I’m a few days late with this update…
Harvested both plants a few days ago on day 63 of flower.
I really wasn’t expecting too much from the Pineapple Gold as she suffered from pretty severe lockout (due to my over feeding me thinks). I was pleasantly surprised to see the nice little bouquet of buds I ended up with when I cut her down.
The Scotian Gold is on another level in terms of bulk. Her buds grew fat and long and as whole plants go, she is one of the heaviest I’ve pulled out of my tents. Curious to see what her dry weight will be 🧐
Back with a harvest and smoke report in a week or two.
Genetics: Pineapple x Skunk x Rare 100% Indica
80% Indica / 20% Sativa
Made some mistakes along the way with this girl. I think I overfed her early on and she suffered for it as a result. The end result was fantastic though as she produced some very tasty buds - some of the most delicious I've grown to date. I'll definitely grow this strain again.
That's a wrap for this one. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
40% Indica / 60% Sativa
Genetics: OG Kush X Durban Poison
THC: 22% - 26%
This was an incredibly fruitful grow, pulling in by far my heaviest harvest to date with a whopping 246 grams! This plant grew really vigorously despite suffering a bit of nutrient lockout due to my overfeeding. Pretty impressed with the production of this strain 👊
That's a wrap for this grow. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
