The mango smile seeds germinated much faster than sour crinkle and overall seem more vigorous. The second sour crinkle seed has been particularly slow, I think with all 4 plants the tent may become crowded during flower so I may remove the second sour crinkle later on if it doesent improve. Currently misting 3-4 times a day, depending on when the medium appears to be dry.

A lot of good growth this week, the plants are growing each day. After transplanting the mango smiles got a little heavy handed w the watering and one suffered from it and yellowed a bit but has since then bounced back well. The runt sour crinkle is coming along, I have a feeling it will be just as vigorous as the others from here on and will just need to be harvested a few days later than the others. Overall everything is going well, can’t wait to see how they turn out!!

Started fertilizing and tying plants down this week, after seeing some rapid growth. The sour crinkle runt has come a long way. The first sour crinkle plant has some issue with the leaves feeling almost papery? After some research I realized I may have been over ambitious with the light intensity but moved my light to 18 inches, the plant still seems overall healthy.

Lots of tying down, plants are very vigorous rn. Everything is going smooth. Smell got strong so I installed my carbon filter. One of the Sour crinkles is so bushy I may not tie down and just stick with Leaf tucking, tying down didn’t expose any inner leaves it seemed more like it was extra stress.

Left them on their own for the holiday weekend w no issue, the difference in growth in just 3 days was great to see. Flower is starting so I’m sure they’ll start stretching soon. Added cal mag supplement bc there was what looked like signs of calvium deficiency on one of the sour crinkles. Considering defoliating a little but not sure.

Anyone have experience defoliating either of these strains?

I had to do a bit of defoliating while battling a thrips problem, didn’t seem to affect anything, if you wanna see just check my oldest Mephisto diary

Defoliation just reduces your plants capacity to make energy, thereby slowing growth. If your plant did not need those leaves, it would not have grown them in the first place! Just remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Try and leave as much green on as possible. If there is the odd leaf blocking light from other leaves then that could go. Removing lower stuff that's not going to see the light is also OK. Things have to be done in moderation, its so easy to think I'll remove them 4 leaves but then you find you have taken 40 leaves off, so easy to get caught up in defoliation.

This week has ran smoothly. Seems like the 2nd mango smile and sour crinkle are lightening up. Going to be more heavy handed with the fertilizer as I’ve been pretty conservative waiting for plants to show me they need more.

Another worry free week. Seems like the mango smile and sour crinkle I put in airports are ripening significantly faster than the fabric pot counter pots. Each strain shares nutrients with its strain counter part (heard mango smile is N sensitive) and both sour crinkle plants were transplanted while only one mango smile was. Regardless I will most likely stick with smart pots from here on. I had a friend mention that he learned plants like a wider shallower pot than a tall deep one, guess he may have been onto something.

Switching the two plants in airpots to flush because they seem pretty close!! Trichs are looking milky. The two plants in fabric pots still going strong. I’ll replicate this experiment with the Ripkey OG I just got in and see if it’s consistent!!

Starting to see a little fade on my 2 plants in fabric pots. I’ll probably go ahead and start flushing them after 1 final fertilization and aim to harvest between day 80-90. Will be harvesting the airport plants tomorrow or Friday. Plants will be dried to 60-70% then jarred and pressed into flower rosin shortly after.

Last two plants are flushing now. My stunted mango smile yielded about 36 g which I made about 7g of rosin from and kept a few nugs. My first sour crinkle yielded about 55g. They seem like they will yield much more. Seems like if you want smaller faster plants use airpots or bigger plants w a longer lifecycle do fabric pots.
