Got two new ladies germinating this week. Beginning their journey in a self-watering Jiffy greenhouse & the tent. 20/4 for the light schedule. They’ll probably stay in the tent for another few days. My plan for this grow is for it to be completely outdoor once germination is complete.
Both seed popped through within a couple of days.
Transplanted the girls (Evelyn & Pacey) into their 5-gal pots on Day 13 using a 4:1 mix of Ocean Forest & Happy Frog inoculated with Dynomyco.
Plan to keep them in the tent for the next week, then move them outside for the remainder of the grow.
Any outdoor auto growers out there? What do you recommend for increasing yield? Topping? FIMing? Go au naturale/nothing?
Still a couple of weeks before flowering stage.
I’ve got a zkittlez autoflower from ILGM outdoor right now. First time having one outdoor, and I’m really not big on autos at all anymore but wanted to see the growth and results of one outdoors. I also agree to stay away from topping or HST unless you know the genetics and are experienced with it.
I just did standard LST by bending/training down the whole main stem and allowing nodes to have direct light.
That’s what I would recommend. GSCE from ILGM looks to take well to training and seems to be a vigorous grower and flowerer.
Good week to keep these girls (Evelyn & Pacey) indoors… been brutally hot here.
Seem to be doing well. Planning to move them outdoors this weekend. Will top them late next week.
Busy week for the girls. I topped them both at the beginning of the week and gave them their first round of nutrients. (Fox Farm @ 1/2 strength)
Mother Nature has been providing plenty of rain, so I haven’t needed to do any watering. In fact, I tucked them up under the eaves of the house so that they wouldn’t get too much water. (We also had some severe thunderstorms in our area - didn’t want any hail damage.
They got a dose of neem oil - welcome to the outdoors, girls! Want to keep the bugs away.
And just yesterday, we did a bit of LST.
Continuing to grow as we approach flowering.
Hard to measure height due to the LST, but looks to be about 8” from soil to tip of leaves along the main stem.
Seem to be enjoying the outdoors: natural sunlight, breeze, rain, etc.
Quite a bit of rain this week, so Mother Nature watered the girls plenty this week. Only thing I did was a feeding - half strength, of course.
Starting to see flowers develop, so we’re officially into flowering.
Good dose of neem oil to dissuade the pests.
Got plenty of rain again this week, so I never had to water the girls.
Definitely into the flowering stretch: Evelyn is 19”, Pacey is 12”
Other than a little pruning of leaves, no real grow techniques involved this week.
Flowers are continuing to form & grow.
Let’s talk about neem oil: what are your thoughts on using neem oil through the various growth stages? I’m specifically interested in thoughts on using it through Flowering.
It’s ok for veg—- do not use in flower. I personally use combinations off all types of IPM—- from citric acid based (Dr Zymes—- good for in flower), oil based like pure crop and lost coast, to essential oil based like neem, geranium— Zen Angry John, Mammoth Control, etx. Not a huge fan of neem
Regular nutrient feeding this week (1/2 strength) followed my a flush (plain water) a few days later.
A final dose of neem oil to keep the bugs away. Hoping not to deal with any pests.
These girls have been retaining water in the pit pretty well… haven’t had to water this week since the nutrients and the flush.
Lots of hot weather here the last week. Plenty of rain, so I really haven’t had to do much watering.
Feeding half-strength with the FoxFarm nutes per usual.
Not much growth, but the buds are filling out nicely… just a typical week of flowering. Pacey’s buds appear more compact/dense at this point.
5th Week of Flowering
Hot & humid week here. Other than a nutrient feeding, I’ve only watered once - Mother Nature did the rest.
Buds are continuing to form & fill out.
Been a rough past couple of weeks weather-wise here: hot & very humid, lots of rain. Decided to move the girls back into the tent so I could better control the variables.
Septoria has been a statewide issue for growers here. Was seeing early signs if it in these plants - which weighed in on my decision to move them indoors.
While removing dead/dying leaves, I noted a couple of spots of bud rot. Removed them as well.
Other than that, these girls are looking pretty good… still a couple of weeks before we’re in the harvest window.
In the home stretch for harvest next weekend.
Removed quite a bit of dead/brittle leaves.
It’s interesting:the top of the plants look ready to harvest, but new pistils are firming near the bottom still.
This was my final week of flowering: final flush and lights out 48 hours before harvest.
Watered only when my soil tester indicated they were getting dry.
Strain was easy to grow. Tried to grow completely outdoors, but wide-spread septoria throughout our state required that I move the girls indoors for the last couple of weeks.
