This is my very first grow, and decided to go with an autoflower for its fast growth and ease of care, and Sour Diesel for the high sativa percentage. Bought the seeds from ilgm.com because of their good reputation.
I mixed the plant medium, then soaked with water to prevent hot spots. Let it drain through the fabric bag for 5 hours and checked pH (7). Planted 3 seeds directly in soil so as not to stress the plant, and put in a small greenhouse on my porch to germinate.
On the second day, mixed a granule of citric acid with 1/8 t muric acid with a gallon of water, bringing the water pH to 6.3. Sprinkled only about 1/2 cup on each seed.
On third day, two of the seeds sprouted. I nervously removed a stuck seed husk from one seedling.
Side note: I had planned to grow these in my attic but we have had very high temperatures recently, and I am unable to keep the area cool enough. I may bring indoors if I can work out a cooling method that isn’t too expensive.
DISASTER! Bugs ate my babies!! Only thin sticks are left.
I am going to leave this diary here, though, so new growers realize things don’t always turn out.
Fortunately I have seeds to start over with so I will begin again.
Peace, everyone.
One out of the three seedlings had part of a leaf left, so I left her under the lights to see what she would do. It has been a week and she grew a leaf!
I have moved her to the attic where it is too hot (80-90 deg F during the day) but she is away from bugs.
Hoping for the best!
She is giving it a good try after bugs ate all but a half leaf! As an auto, I doubt she will be a great producer, but I am interested to see how she does.
This one is ridiculous, and I am just continuing out of curiosity. (Was eaten by bugs down to a half leaf early on) It is strange how each side is growing with a pattern, but is not symmetrical left to right. As an auto she doesn’t have much time, and I am wondering if she will peter out or try to flower.
This little plant just keeps trying. As an auto it will be interesting to see what she does. Will she say in vegetative for extra weeks or create a small flower? How important is that early growth period?
At this point I am rooting for the gal! Grow, baby, grow!
Update: she continues to grow as though she is a 3 week old. I have pinned her over to try and stimulate growth.
I have I increased light to 21,000 lum with an extra hour of light, but no other changes yet.
Week 6 and she is still in veg! Maybe she will hold off to flower until she is a bit bigger.
I am using lst which she doesn’t seem to mind.
I have a few clones outside and may move her there, but it is supposed to be rainy all week so am holding off for now.
Edit: I removed a couple leaves and pinned a bit more. She stays behind in growing, but improves a little each day.
Well, this is just the most determined little plant. She has grown up to the point that I have started low stress training and a bit of defoliation.
No signs of flowering, and I hope she holds off one more week to grow. Once flowering, I plan to move her outside where she can get the glowing bright sunlight.
The weather has changed with milder temperatures, but high humidity. She seems to like the change.
As of today she is an outside plant. She is in partial shade today, and I will move her to full sun in the next couple days. (She got a bit of light burn inside - my lights aren’t strong and I let her get too close)
It looks like she is in pre-flower stage, but I don’t know for sure. As an auto, I am surprised and happy she held out this long. I am glad I didn’t give up on her.
Now the real test to see how she produces! I am not a heavy smoker (once a month or so), and am just growing for the experience and for fun. So far the journey has been a delight.
Update: She is so happy outside! My baby is growing up!
She has loved being outside! It has rained every other day and I feed on non-rainy days.
Finally seeing some flowers after a week of stretching. I will need to start making nutrient adjustments during this week.
I am so pleased with how well this plant has done after a rough start.
She is looking good this week! More growth, more stretching, and flowering has begun in ernest. Just a nice plant overall, and has been an easy grow since her I early issues. I kind of wish I had set up a ScrOG net, but overall, I am pleased at this stage.
I cut back the micro / nitrogen and cut out the humic acid. I plan to increase flora bloom this week. Other plants are seeing signs of Grasshoppers or possibly caterpillars, so will treat them all with Monterey Bt on Tuesday when my mister comes in.
40 mph winds expected later in the week, and I am happy I used 7 gallon containers, so I can easily move the plants inside.
I was out of town, so this is a bit late, but we are still doing well! I cut out the flora micro and added AN Big Bud the last couple days since I have been home. She has grown a couple inches - I think pretty big for an auto!
It is supposed to rain, and a good soaking will do her some good. She has been incredibly thirsty lately. That is about it for now - just a bit of waiting to see how it goes.
She is getting chunkier and the days are getting much shorter. I wonder how long this strain flowers. Of course, it seems like a year since I started this girl from a seed.
I haven’t made any changes since last week. We finally had rain today so she got a good soaking. They really needed a nice steady rain to soak the roots well.
Looking forward to seeing her grow in the weeks to come!
Continuing to plump - I am happy with these plants for my first grow! It is so hard to be patient. I’m tempted to try out a small but from the bottom of the plant!
The smell is very strong and the buds are sticky. What fun!
Along came this late night thunderstorm and knocked most of her branches over! I went out in the storm to move her to the protected side of the house, but many branches were bent. I grabbed what was on hand and tied her up,
I’ve decided this weekend will be harvest. For my very first grow, I still consider it a success. I guess the proof will be on the scale (and in the dry herb vape).
Harvest day, so I posted a couple additional pics.
Good luck with your sour diesel auto. Check my completed sour diesel auto grow in my diary and my current ILGM Sweet Auto mix grow diary has a second sour diesel almost finished. Looks amazing. 😁👍
@PrinceCaspianGrows, thank you but they are now on a shelf inside since my first batch was eaten by bugs. I am thinking of moving them outdoors when they start flowering, but I am still concerned about bugs!
Hey! Happy growing my friend! I hope you do well and get some good results! I will come by sometime to see your progress! Keep on growing!
