So this is going to be a fun and long grow. I just recently got sponsored by Spider Farmer lights and they sent me there SE-3000 light to try out. The plan for this grow is to do 1 single Ripper Seed OMG plant in my 3x3 tent and prolong this grow as much as possible so as to take up as much space in the tent as I can before I switch to bloom. I'm hoping for 2-3 month veg with lots of FIM, Topping, LST and Scorg going on. I plan on having as much fun with this grow as I can.
Happy growing everyone.
Being my first ever coco run I've been doing a lot of studying this last week on the do and don't of growing with coco. I had a few growers tell me it was just like soil but after doing some reading and talking to some experienced coco growers. I've come to the conclusion that it isn't like soil and its more of a hybrid between hydroponics and soil and leans more to the hydroponics side.
I'm back to just one plant in the tent after setting my dad up with my 2x3 system and a single plant to play with. I also turned up the intensity of the light from 40% to 60% and noticed the plant liked it. So far I am really liking this SE-3000 light from Spider-Farmer with the dimmer switch and everything.
This next week I'm hoping to be able to go from the 4.3" pot to the 1g pot with perlite mixed in with the coco (finally got some!!!!) And then also increasing my watering to 2-3 times a day.
Well that's all for now so happy growing everyone!!!!
So this week has been fairly straightforward. Re potted my plant into a 1Gal at the start of the week. I was going to take a picture of the root ball but my son had ran off with my phone. It wasn't as bunched up as I like it when I repot, but ones I pull the plant out of the pot I don't like to put it back in. Also now that it's been re potted I was able to mix in perlite and did a 40-60 mix.
Built a stand for the plant using 2x4, 1x2, and cut up 1x2. Also have a plant dish with some holes in it for the run off to drain out of and a small tupperware container under it to catch it all (shhh don't tell my wife or this well be my last entry lol). So far it has worked great and makes testing the run off super easy.
I gave the plant its first bit of training with some basic FIMing and set up the first layer of trellis netting. I want to try and fill out this tent as much as possible before I flip to flower. Might end of taking a lot longer to veg the plant before I flip to flower but I feel like it'll be worth it.
I had to order up a new pen set because my HM digit ones are giving me incorrect readings. I've tried calibrating both of them a few times now and both just go all out of whack. My Ph pen was constantly dropping to 3.0 and after adding Ph up it would go all the way up to 3.2... and that's after adding 1ml to 1l. When it came to my TDS/EC pen, the readings were all over the place. My mix is always consistent when it comes to measuring, maybe off by about 0.1ml if that when it comes to nutrients. But about 3 maybe 4 days ago I noticed that my PPM went from 400-420ppm every mix to 200ppm-700ppm every mix..... I ended up taking my Hanna monitor out and testing my mix out and it was spot on 400ppm. Tried new batteries, calibrated it and still was out of whack. So ordered up some cheap replacement for now and emailed HM digit about possible warranty or tips on how to fix it. I'd go buy some other good quality ones but I've got a big project in the works that needs to be done by September and all my money is tied into that.
Well so far that's all for now. So keep kool and happy growing everyone.
This has been a busy and a bit of a stressful week for the plant. So we'll brake it down day by day...
July. 28 FIMed and feed
July.29 feeding
July.30 re potted into a 5 gal pot just a few days after putting her in the 1 gal pot. The root ball was perfect for the switch and bounced back was fast.
July.31 feeding
Aug.1 started with a small leaf strip to get a batter look at the plant structure. After that I did some very basic LST on the lower branches. After I finshed that I quickly FIMed it and then gave it a really good feeding.
Aug.2 Originally I was only going to give the plant a feeding on this day but I'm planning on doing a big scrOG with this plant. So I broke out the snips and topped her. I'm hoping by the end of this week to start weving the plant into the net.
Aug.3 (today) feeding only.
So like I said, bit of a stressful week for her.
Temperature and humidity have been a bit all over the place this last week. First with the heat, most of the time she has been hitting 26.5 to 27.5c and thats with my AC running. Been still having some super hot days outside. The humidity has been a bit more back and forth going from low 40s to high 50s, but never going below or above so that's good.
For feed I finally got new pens a few days ago and then tested them against my Hanan monitor to check there accuracy and they were well within range. Also been slowly bumped my PPM up over the last week. I had been giving her 450 so first I upped it to 550 and then as of yesterday 600 ppm. Wanted to slowly increase it so that it wouldn't be stressful for the plant and to make sure my run off doesn't jump. I've been able to keep my run off ppm less then 100 above feeding levels so I'm pretty happy with that.
Well so far that's it for this plant. Hope to have my other diaries that I'm working on rite now added by this weekend but we well see.
Happy growing everyone!!!
So got the net in place this week and started doing my ScrOG. Also did a bit of FIMing and some LST to help speed things up a bit. So far the weaving hasn't been as easy as I was told it be some ive been using some soft twist ties to help keep them in place. Going to veg and weave for another week or so before I switch it to flower. I was told you have to continue weaving for 2-3 weeks into flower but im worried that'll stress the plant out so if anyone that reads this knows other wise, comment below.
Increased the feed from 1 liter to 2 liters because I wasn't getting any run off. Now I'm getting 10% run off every watering and I've been able to keep my run off ppm to less then 100 ppm above feed. So far I'm really like working with coco and don't see myself going back to soil unless it's outside plants.
The environment has been fairly stable the last week with outside temperature droping. Had a spike in humidity yesterday because it got up to 75% humidity outside where I live. Luckly when that happened my tent only went up to roughly 67% but it's slowly dropped down and then stopped at 62%. There calling for another heat wave this week with it reaching up to almost 40c again for a couple days.... can not wait for summer to be over. I'm a ginger so I'm more of a autumn and spring kind of guy and plus this heat is making it difficult not only for this plant but also the ones I started seeding a few weeks back. Got so hot that they stopped growing for 3 days, 2 died and 3 got burned a bit.
So far this 300w SE-3000 Spider-Farmer light is really rocking it. Great coverage, adjustable and detachable ballast have made this a easy grow even with the mad heat. Definitely going to look at the SE-5000 light that runs at 450w or the SE-7000 light that runs at 650w for my next light in the 4x4 tent. Next go around I'm going to try this light in a 2x2 tent I have that I use for germinating.
Well that's all for now so happy growing everyone.
Man did this plant get a lot of attention this week. Did a leaf strip to get a closer look at what ive got going on. Topped about 6 branches and did some LST. Also had a mishap with the main steam snapping so I ended up topping it down a bit and the plant has responded nicely to it and didn't get stressed out to much.
Weather has been great so no more hot tent going on. Hoping to have maybe one last week of veg and then flip it to flower.
That's all for now so happy growing everyone.
Today is official the last day of veg. Turned the light onto 24 hours because I've been running it during the day but now that I've moved it out to my shed that I set up as my new grow space, I want to run it at night when it's colder out.
The plant had a great week of growth as you can tell from the pictures. Plant kicked it into overdrive for its last week and really started to fill up the tent. Unfortunately I didn't think to keep room at the base for watching and now I only have 2 spots I can really water from unless I use a 1/4 cup measuring cup and that'll take forever lol. I'm hoping to have her cropped by Nov.1 to Nov.5 so that I can start using this tent and set up for mother plants. I'll be using a different light then but that's for the next diary.
Well that's all for now so happy growing!!!
The plant did great up to just before the end of week 8. A power outage and extremely high humidity caused 2/3 of the tops to develop bud rot. I spent a good 2 hours going over every inch of the plant and tossed out anything that looked remotely like bud rot. I had a good 200g worth thrown into the trash. It was heart breaking but you can not smoke that shit.
Training
Well first week of flower is in the bag and the plant is looking great. She has had great growth over the last week and the canopy of the 3x3 is over 80% filled out. ScrOG is definitely a grow method ill be using more often going forward.
Feed
I've been giving her a whooping 3L of water a day and haven't been getting any run off. Tonight I plan on giving it a full gallon of water to try and get some run off. I've only been giving her Bud Ignitor every other day because I don't have a lot left. I've got Maybe 1/8 of a bottle left of a 250ml bottle and I want it to last the first 2 weeks. Most of the bottles outside the part A and B connoisseur, Bud Factor X, Bud Candy, B52, Big Bud and Sansi Cal-Mag Xtra have less then 1/2 or a 1/4 bottle. I plan on using up everything I got and waiting tell the next grow to replace it all.
Environment
Temperature has been great. Think the hottest it has gotten up to the last week was 25c. It's really come down in my area the last week so the tent has been running smoothly. Went from 30-35c days to 18-23c in only a few days lol. The only issue I had last week was humidity, jumped up to 75% one day. That tho would have been avoidable if I had remembered to turn my big ass dehumidifier on. It's one of the nice things about having everything all set up in a dedicated grow space. You have room for equipment that actually does what it's designed for without losing grow space. After humidity dropped down to 50% in less then a hour.
Next week plan
Going to be doing one last leaf strip near the end of this week and a bit more lolipoping. After that I'm just going to let her grow. Also might set up a second net about 8" above the plant for extra support later in growth but well see.
Well happy growing everyone!!!
Holy shit this thing grow like crazy over the last week. Upped it to 4L a day and she really started to climb and stretch a few days after. I've been able to keep the tent temperature and humidity exactly were I want I ever since I put it in the grow shed and it's been nice. The canopy of the tent is about 90-95% full. Most of the empty space is in the front section by the door. The back section is full and already growing higher then the front unfortunately. So might end up being a bit lopsided by the time the buds really start to grow. Speaking of buds, starting to notice a lot of bud spots on all the branches. I'm extremely excited to see how this plant turns out.
Well that's all for now so happy growing everyone!!!!
Holy crap can you say rocket ship hahaha. Thing grew over 10" I 7 days. I've only got 6" of grow space left before my light is completely maxed out soooo yea fingers crossed lol. She's got tones of buds growing all over and is looking amazing. She has filled this tent out better then my last few grows in this tent.
The temp has been holding around 25 to 26.5 light on the last week and humidity has been jumping back and forth between 50% and 60%.
I've jumped up to a gal of water a day plus a extra 500ml every other day for run off. My run off gas been between 50 and 100 above my input so that's good.
Plants looking happy so I'm happy
Well that's all
Happy growing everyone!!!!
So I really wish I could say this last week has been all sunshine and rainbows, but it has not.
First well start with the good. Plant FINALLY stopped growing right at the best spot possible. Light is basically maxed out as far as it can go up. I could still do still do few things to maybe get a extra 1-2" but I'll wait and see if I'll need to. As you can see from the photos there is a massive amount of stacking going on with the buds. Words can't describe the excitement I have to see how big they all get and the yeild of the plant as long as I don't have anymore hiccups.
Now the bad... didn't have any run off for a few days so I gave it a solid watering and got lots of run off. Run off that had a ppm of 2500..... almost 1300 ppm above what I put into it.... well fuck. So I gave it a flush tell I I it down to 1700 because I didn't want to keep putting water into it. Next day it had bounced back up to 1900 so did a small flush again and got it down to 1400 ppm. Then yesterday it had jumped back up to 1700 so I decided to change how I water it. Instead of giving it a massive feeding ones a day and having the coco dry out probably more then I should, I'm going to split the quantity in half and start giving it 2 feedings a day. 1 when lights turn on and another a hour before lights turn off. Hopefully I'll still get run off both times so that I can test it. Hopefully I'll get this corrected before next week.
Well that's all everyone
Happy growing!!!
Well she has definitely stopped growing now. I got a bit of light bleaching on a few tops unfortunately. Should have turned the light down to 80% but I wasn't thinking. Hopefully itll bounce back like my chempie by Ripper seeds I did a few grows back that got a bit of light bleaching also. It was just on one bud but I caught it and was able to correct it before crop. Going to add a bit of Revive to the feed next week to see if it'll help a bit. Also had a issue with high ppm in my run off that I was struggling with a bit that I've slowly corrected.
Been a bit of a learning curve with the coco but I'm loving it. Great results all around.
Well that's all for now so happy growing everyone
So to start, I did a small leaf strip a few days ago. I like to do small leaf strips ones a week the last few weeks of flower. Now not big, Im Talking 15-20 leaves tops. Don't want to over stress the plant at this stage but also want to make sure the buds below are getting enough light.
The temperature has dropped a bit outside so the tent is running cooler then it was. Honest it got all week was 22.5c, but also only got up to 20c one night. Unfortunately this tent is right next to the door out of my grow space so all the cold air is coming through. Going to need to look at replacing the door with something that fits a bit better, or look at adding something to this door to help.
Next to that the plant is looking amazing so far. Looking forward to smoking this in the coming weeks.
Well happy growing everyone!!!!
So now that week 7 is over I've started my flushing phase. So that'll be a week and a half to 2 weeks of flushing and being out under a burple light. The reason I'm trying that out this grow is because sure whenever someone grows with these lights they get very minimal yeild, but the potency is good. So just this go around going to see what happens. Plus now I can put my SE-3000 in the main room with all my other Spider-Farmer lights.
The trenchomes are all looking milky and a few amber heads. That was the key that told me it was time to start flushing this plant. I'll be adding grotek final flush and trying to get the run off ppm to as low as I can for a week to 2 and then chop her down. I am so damn excited to see give this plant a taste!!!!
Well happy growing everyone!!!
Well this has been a week. Started flushing 2 days before the end of last week. And it's a good thing To. We had a power outage 2 days into this week and my dehumidifier didn't turn back on. So for over 7 hours it was off and the humidity in my tent went all the way up to 75%..... 3 days later I found bud rot on 4 of my massive buds..... so I chopped her down and spent the next few hours going over her. Found a few more small spots and cut them out. Now its hang drying almost a week before I would have liked to have chopped her down but it's better to have a harvest then throw out all this work. I know from experience lol
Well that's all for now so hope everyone else is having better luck. Happy growing everyone!!!
