Heeellllloooo Week 7! All plants seem to be mostly happy. I've started with a more flower-forward feeding plan and have bumped up nutrient amounts. Within two days things have started to green up again. The height range is from 12" on the small side (NL2) up to 17.5" for the tallest (NL1). Day 46: weather has tempered. It was 65f outside last night and it's been mid-70s during the day. The tent in running in the 77-78f range under lights. Ordered an intake fan (AC Infinity Cloudline S-6), which will attach to the T-6's controller and they're work in tandem together. I found that for the past 2 nights even with the exhaust fan running the cool night air was reversing air flow and pushing stank into our house. This should fix the issue by me closing all other venting at the bottom of the tent. -Watered/mild flush with water at 6.35pH, one gallon per plant. First time I've watered to run off, about half a liter per plant... Did a little setup adjustment. Noticed that my exhaust fan had been in the power distro that was on the timer for the lights, ooops...that got moved over to it's own circuit. Day 47: Temperatures outside (and inside) have dropped. Yesterday didn't breach the mid 70's and last night we got down to 48f outside. Inside the tent we had a daytime high of 79.6f and a low of 71. Humidity has been commensurate, with a high at night of 57% RH and a low of 50.8%. No feed or water today (and possibly tomorrow depending on how long the soil takes to dry from yesterday's water to runoff), but I did adjust the lights up an inch or so. The top of the 17.5" NL was sitting at ~1000ppfd and somewhere around 71DLI, that was adjusted to the 800's and more reasonable 50's for DLI all plant tops remain in the upper 40's to 50's for DLI. Also, since some plants are only about 12" and one is at 18", I raised the shorties to match the height of the tallest so they're at similar canopy distances from the lights. That hopefully will balance exposure and keep flower growth similar on all 4 plants. Day 48: Holding pattern day. My heavy watering to runoff on day 46 means my soil is still damp, and looking like it possibly will be dry enough to feed either tomorrow or Day 50. Though I'd like to get nutrients in the soil since Blu'Brie is still looking yellow in the mid-section. Though the last round seems to have perked up the lesser of the NLs so that she's definitely a darker richer green and not at all washed out anymore. The tall NL hasn't changed height in about 36 hours, locked in at about 17.5. I'm thinking that the weaker NL is going to start stretching momentarily. Day 49: Check out the iPhone pics...can SEE some action now. Sparkle madness is visible to the naked eye now, also the bud-sites are starting to expand vertically and starting to look like something a little more than just frilly puffs. No bad effects from Day 46's gallon flush. Great day to do some 'housekeeping'...started by re-calibrating my pH meter. WAY easier to do now that I've used the meter for a month and have a feel for it. Feel like my readings are confidently more precise. Also, our non softened well water now reads at 6.7pH which is an excellent starting point and I'm not lowering it too much anymore. Still working on some mid-plant yellowing that remains on Blu'Brie and NL1. Not awful enough for me to worry but still. Feeding at a rate of 1.5x the week 7 chart amount, but that feels OK because at chart it was looking deficient...and my PPM is still only in the 450 range. Weather and tent conditions have been smooth sailing this week...65f/60% outside and in tent it's 75f/51% during the day and ending up at 70f/61% at night. Day 50: Rest day. Won't need to water for a day or so...rotated all plants 180 degrees to expose lower bud sites to even light. Temp & relative humidity are remaining constant. Waiting for my intake fan to show up in the next couple days. Will be a AC Infinity Cloudline S6...controlled by the same digital controller as the T6 exhaust fan. Day 51: Did decide to water @ 5pm (lights stay on another 6 hours). Watered each plant 1g of pH 6.5 water, which did amount to 10-20% runoff. Working harder now to make sure that between every feed I water to runoff to flush some of the residual nutrient build up out of the soil. Yellowing that was present in the Blueberry & to a minor extent, NL1 seems to be fading. Plants all look fine NL1 is up to 19", NL2 looks healthy and is starting to stretch. Buds continue to look more like buds. Spent sometime neatening up the growing area and tent. Probably have an interloper in this week (dish washer died this weekend) and that means basement access to breaker box, about 4" away from tent. All grow-related stuff is neaten and packed and tidy, though there's a good amount of vegetable/flower & garden herb related stuff around, should there be any questions (I do germinate/grow everything from basil and tomatoes to a variety of hot peppers and I do also work with roses). Any visit that happens will have the plants removed to another room and all power to the tent will be off. Mrs. Least Expected Grower is aware and able to move plants if I'm not home. Anyway. removed all the old household extensions, replaced with 3-outlet drops that are 16ga wired all hung then secured to corner poles and very tidy. Grow space is neat and organized and swept. Spent the rest of the days making my bees angry doing hive inspections...fall harvest is a few weeks away. Hey fall THC infused honey...all home-grown! Day 52: Holding pattern, things were well watered yesterday, not much goin' on today.

Are these on track or slow/low? 1st time grow, 3 auto varieties. Today is the 14th day since seeds hit the soil. They look healthy, but they're all only 1.5" to 2" tall. Do I need to raise my lights? They're currently @ 14" above the leaves with 1x225wLED & 2x 32wLED.

They may be a bit over watered. Can't really comment on light hight ad unformiliar with it. With my lights it's about 18 inch above in veg, also your going need to pot up to your final container.

Brown spots on my Auto Blueberry...What's causing this? They weren't there yesterday. Haven't moved my lights. Fed (GH Trio,CALiMAGic) Tuesday, watered today (Fri). pH runoff = 6.5 Temp@77f, Hum=58% None of my others (NL & Tan.Dream auto) have it.

Anyone have a quick and easy rule/suggestion for PPFD & lux for plants in Seedling, Vegetative & Flowering states? Lots of divergent answers online. At plant top right now I'm currently at ~1000PPFD and the lux readings are 49,000-51,000. What are 'best practices' for this?

Lowest numbers to hit: Seedlings: 200-300 ΞΌMols Vegetative: 306 ΞΌMols Flowering: 463 ΞΌMols If you want to increase the amount of light from 20 to 40 moles per day, resulting in higher yields, you simply need to double the numbers above, but not the Seedling stage – 308 PPFD to 616 PPFD during the vegetative phase, and 463 PPFD to 925 PPFD during the flowering phase. Seedlings: 200-300 ΞΌMols Vegetative: 617 ΞΌMols Flowering: 925 ΞΌMols Best of luck and happy growing my friend.

My auto blueberry just started showing some yellowing mid-plant. It's first/second week of flower. Thoughts on what she needs? None of the others have it (Tangerine Dream & Northern Lights). Doesn't show signs of overwater. More deets below.

This Northern Lights auto is being vexatious...I can't get rid of the yellowing towards the bottom. Not overwatered, I've tried beefing up the nutrients, etc. with no effect. Any thoughts or do I just writing off as she's just being a jerk? Other plants in this grow are fine.

OK dli is good, 60 is max.. but, if the dli is given to intense (to close light) the leaf turn upwards like yours, so you might back light a little. 4-7 cm? problem with ppm is that is no standard definition of it. sometimes 700ppm =1 ec. sometimes 500ppm =1 ec?? its just a mess. it depends on your reader. So anyway, i dont know how much 500-800 ppm is. You should however be between 1.2 - 2 EC for soil flowering. make sure you measure the run-off water.. if its a lot less then what you feed them, they need more nuets. (EC target need sometimes even go up to 2.2-2,6 ec ... if strain demands, typical indica to need much and sativa little.. or if you are doing hydro/coco that also needs more EC.) Anyway about your nuets,, i read only 1/2 strength nutrient and that's not good. I too use GHE tripart, their seedling feed where spot on EC-target. (with my water). I think GHE have good ec targets in mind when design feedchart, but of course your water quality also plays a part.. but i would just go full strength mate. atleast for 2-3 watering and see what happens

Just chopped my first 4 plants, all auto. Did 2x Northern Lights, 1 Blueberry, 1 Tangerine Dream. I have enough seeds for a few more rounds. But I should probably pick one type & do 4. Help me pick! BB are fussy, TD are more Sativa, NL are classic. Thoughts?

@BeautifulCraftRreddit Leaning towards the NL's too, given they did pretty well no matter how badly I butchered them...and also I just have more of those seeds. I have 8 on hand still. Though soonish I'd like to move over from autos to photoperiod so I can have more control over things and try my hand at more training techniques.

@ BeautifulCraftRreddit; Yeah, the Blueberry was more prone to conditional problems, sensitive to nutrient burn, etc. And it was also the first to hit flower-fade at the end of its time. It helped convince me that it wasn't the best to run 3 different strains at the same time. At the same point, if I'm running 4 of the same thing, it's easier to tailor the feed to that one strain, and dial that in, I think. On the other hand, I have 8 NL seeds (I originally bought 10 NL, and 5's of the others). And those plants just GREW the best. Once I got used to them, they did well and even with all my abuse they were very forgiving. The Tangerine Dream is the one strain that's heavier on the Sativa...but the one I grew was really dense and tight and was a mutant that only ever developed 3-lobe leaves that always pointed downwards. So this round I ended with a bunch of reasonable indica heavy stuff and less sativa, so there's some draw to balancing it out. I'm going to move to Pro-Mix and stay with all my other common elements but get some good myco for next run. I'm also going to start out in .75g pots instead of cups.

@LeastExpectedGrower LYeah I did the same thing as you, tested out a gelato, sour diesel and purple lemonade all at the same time and mid grow was thinking how I should have done just one. I went dry amendments so I didn't have to really worry about feeding just watering but the sour diesel just wasn't letting up on how much cal mag she wanted

@Grower2021253, Surprisingly cheap. I have mine updating every 30 minutes (while I'm away at work I can see how things are unfolding). I recently adjusted it to reflect what the meter on my AC Infinity controller says, since I'm guessing that is fairly accurate. I also have some smart plugs that I can trigger extra fans, etc. when I'm away from the house. Right now no matter what it looks brutal since the exterior temps are 85-90f during the day and 75-85% humidity. My dehumidifiers can mostly keep up but it's keeping grow tent conditions a little warmer than ideal!

Those swings you mentioned are why we only run a veg tent down there..humidity is rough in the summer but perfect all winter, we typically pick tropical/heat resistant strains for the summer indoors and heavy indica outside (or inside during the winter) our GDP run was a fluke, Grower's Choice decided to send us all autoflowers (..again πŸ™„) and of all the GDP seeds we got 1 photoperiod, so we took 6-7 clones, vegged them and flowered them with mom indoors... that GDP took the heat better than my Kush lol, I still can't explain that lol
LeastExpectedGrower
LeastExpectedGrowercommented3 years ago
@Kitties_and_Colas, that's at least a cool work-around and a nice way to think around corners. I do all basement (we don't have an attic), but the basement is the most consistent zone for us across a season, where our living space is all over the place depending on the day's weather. Also, we're prone to house guests and gatherings. Once we really hit fall, the humidity will naturally drop at basement level into the 20-40% range for Fall/Winter/Spring and the room with the tent will remain in the 65-75 range, so summer is the real challenge. This first growing experience has been a challenge in a lot of ways, but also has been a great learning/researching experience, so I'm not at all sorry that it's been tough. Luckily I don't have my hopes pinned on a big harvest for it. In reality, most of what we do will go towards edible projects anyway.
