The second week was quite a ride. Rookie mistakes, a malfunction that almost ruined the entire growth and had to anticipate several steps.
So, first things first. Got a humidifier to control the environment on the tent, and I was extremely pleased to see how the plant reacted to the increased humidity. I had it setup to turn on if humidity got below 75% and off if over 85% (before i had the humidifier it was between 45% and 70%).
On day 9 I noticed something odd, my sensor was reporting 100% humidity on the tent. Went to check and I couldn't believe, water was everywhere. Luckily it was during the dark period and I noticed in time, if the lights turned on with those conditions, they would blow up. The plants were miserable after 4h plus of drowning 😖
Fortunately they survived.
This week I also made a rookie mistake and gave the plants too much light. I had the grow light at 50cm and have increased intensity too much too fast. I've raised the lights to 75cm and decreased the intensity a little. My light sensor is on ground level, about 20cm below the canopies, and currently measures 11400 lux.
Interesting to see that the Wedding Cake seems more affected by the excess light, those clearly show more heat stress signs than the rest.
On day 12 I had to transplant the plants to their final pot, much early than I expected. I started to see roots coming out the bottom of the pots, even though they haven't colonized the entire pot. On future growths, I'll use smartpots for this stage or some kind of mesh on the bottom of the pots.
Since I had to transplant my babies, I went ahead and set the entire autopot system without turning it on.
The system is fed by a 47 liter tank (outside the tent) and with lines distributed to all aquavalves. I'm also using Airdomes fueled by a dual air pump.
Despite the scare of almost killing all my plants, I love how much they ended up growing this week. Apart from the heat stress signs on the Wedding Cakes and the riquets on White Widow 2, they are looking good 😁
