After my recent initial grow failing earlier in June this summer I had yet another failure of my most recent 2 strains which all suddenly died days apart from each other this month in late July. However it only encouraged me to grow more adamant in my quest to see this through. I am inclined to conduct an investigation starting with the root of the problem from the very root of the recent soil used, any pests which may be emerging from standing water beneath the balcony from the near 10 inches of rainfall we’ve had this July here in the Tri-state. Until then I’ll be using a railing shelf to raise my strains over the flooring base of the balcony to keep em from any crawling critters when they’re not in the tent. I also adopted new techniques I’ll be implementing after evaluating diff substrates for grow mediums & nutrients used in a lot of diaries from you guys which has given me a new lease on life. Big up 👊🏾 all the growers on this forum you guys inspire me not to give up & keep adapting no matter what challenges come.

So far I’ve had a strain of diesel & candy kush sprout & the ww was not successful in the coco coir as it’s been quite dry & overcast outdoors lately so I decided to take an indoor approach which has been more successful & pest free. I put another candy kush & turbo diesel seed in a glass of water & already got the seed of candy k to split open so I’ve moved it into to a moist paper towel in a zip bag &’ll plant it in coco coir once the root is nice n long enough to transfer into a pot. Also I’m smh 🤦‍♂️🏽 because I’ve had more success with a $24 grow light bulb from homedepot but none whatsoever with my $160 viper spectra 1500 grow light for the vegetative cycle🤷‍♂️🏾. Can someone tell me what’s the best brightness range & distance from 5%-100% when using the viper spectra 1500 for all stages? Because I’m ready to resell it on Amazon at this point.

This week outside temps once again neared the triple digits with high humidity all week but due to the evening pop up storms which bought downpours & plumes of smoke from raging wildfires making its way across the country the combination of rain & higher co2 levels kept the heat very tolerable for my fairly new 1 & 2 week old strains. I’ve also planted WW & another Turbo diesel seed which already beat the WW to the top of the new fox farm soil which has certainly blended well with coco coir & clay pebbles at the base of the pot making for much more resilient roots & stem structure. For ex I accidentally tipped over a pot & the candy kush was completely uprooted from the soil when it fell out the pot & hit the floor in my tent! Although I was slow to react because I was in the act of adjusting my clamp on grow light in the tent I managed to get it back in the pot, add some fox farm soil to cover exposed roots & fill the pot back up & it’s as though it never happened; in fact it’s posture seems better than before🤷‍♂️🏾! The heat wave wont break until Sunday

Strains have continued to respond incredibly well to hydroponic like clay pebbles at base of pot, coco coir at 2nd level on top of pebbles keeping roots from rotting as well fox farm ocean forest soil at 3rd level on top of the coco coir. The advanced nutrients have been also playing a very vital role in the much earlier development of the new fan blades at the base of every node at the very bottom of the plant. This grow is by far very productive compared to my last 2 prior this summer which failed & didn’t come anywhere near this one which I started at the very beginning of this month. The way these strains are growing I will def have to top as well as begin defoliating nodes at the very bottom of the bigger 2 turbo diesel & candy kush to allow more light to reach the new growth as well as allow the energy to encourage remaining nodes to help both strains grow wider instead of vertically to get far better yields when it’s time to begin flowering by September.

Plants are bigger than I thought they’d get in just a month! I’ve defoliated browning leaves as well as yellowing leaves to start helping all 6 plants focus energy into areas not getting enough light at all. The recent storms Henri & Ida have certainly given em a very hefty dose of rainfall for the 2nd week in a row. I am also ready to top all plants in the coming days to get a bigger yield now that we are in September & cooler temperatures during both the day & night have already begun.

This week started off much cooler but has began warming back up into the 80’s & approaching the mid to upper 60’s overnight. As I said I was planning on replanting with peat, vermiculite, slow release fertilizer & dolomite lime. My bigger turbo diesel & candy kush strains began to outgrow their 1/2 gal pots & also showed signs of feeding much more frequently under a sky with no clouds & dry conditions all week. I also have topped not just 1 of my strains but every last 1 of em all at once! Even my WW which only grew 3 nodes got topped 🤭 so I’ll just have to wait & see how well all 6 of my plants respond & most importantly heal. As for the heads I’ve put em all in a bucket of rain water & will try cloning em if they respond well to the sun in water.

Awesome week I see new nodes springing from the remaining 3 main nodes it almost looks like I gave em all a bad haircut 😭. I can’t wait to see the rapid new growth now that there’s so much more sun getting in em!! These strains have proven to be very resilient against the recent drop in temps to below 59 degrees over nite. Despite the cooler nights the day air temps have been around the low to upper 70’s with a crisp dry west wind this week which is not only perfect for early September but for drying out from the last 2 storms Henri & Ida.

Satisfied is an understatement when I saw the way the pistils revealed that all my strains have lived up to be females & have recovered very well after getting topped nearly 2 weeks ago. I saw some 90 degree benders which are made to train em for the purpose of LST on Amazon which I’ve ordered & plan on using immediately while we still have days of sun over 10 hrs long.

This week has been very productive after seeing results by manipulating all of my strains with LST mixed with super cropping. They have responded very well & I'll continue to manipulate em the more bigger they develop. I also will continue to trim any foliage that just simply won’t get enough sun light & can end up holding up the key areas which will benefit the most like the tops because they get the most sun than the rest of the plant. I have started using the nutrient big bud from advanced nutrients as well as bud candy.

Extremely pleased with the number of hairs that have started growing all over my turbo diesel & candy kush strains after topping & using LST. I’m honestly surprised how much it’s been inundating the plant so fast in the last week. I’ve also stopped feeding em every day so much to avoid root rot. I also noticed what appeared to be fruit flies fleeing from my pots after leaving some lime, lemon & oj peels on the substrate to keep pests away & ironically enough they came anyway🤦‍♂️🏽. I removed em all btw! Also not very pleased with the vermiculite & peat mix recommended for replanting by some scientist from Utah state univ in a YouTube video. Found that it jus created more of a pest problem so I’d just recommend fox farm happy frog for all my outdoor growers which I ordered for my other 4 plants which I haven’t replanted yet. I also recommend mixing a handful of dolomite lime into each pot which gives the plants the silica they need to develop a very fruity dank taste & smell. Dolomite also comes with a replanting slow release fertilizer kit as well.

I’ve began using 45 degree angle LST benders to encourage more light underneath the cola tops & between em so they don’t yield mere popcorn buds near harvest. I’ve also began prepping my tent to keep em inside overnight to protect em from colder nights, street lights & pests. The beginning of the 3rd & 2nd weeks for the bigger of my older turbo diesel & candy kush strains have been seemingly moving at the pace of a snail in terms of any differences to the naked eye which is why I’m investing in a magnifying glass which can help me see the trichomes better. Aside from that I’ve also just started using terpinator since my younger TD, CK & WW strains are also beginning to reveal more pistils but no real dank smell so far. They all seem to have weathered some chilly nights proving em to be quite worthy strains so it’s a shame I can’t get any seeds out of at least 1 of em to start cross breeding my own unique strains🤦‍♂️🏽.

This week I’m glad I’ve spent time looking at my plants every time I cypher blunts w em because I wouldn’t have spotted seeds growing since their sacs are soo green it hides em pretty well. As you probably may have guessed I banished it from my tent & have cleaned my tent thoroughly to ensure there are no chances my females can get so much as get a whiff of it. Now as I said in my diary last week I was kinda bummed out that I couldn’t at least benefit from one plant giving me seeds but now I have been given a chance to reap something I had no idea I’d been sowing this whole time least of all the strain that wreaks of a very sticky & bubbalicious odor even with the most minimal contact. I must say it was a blessing in disguise cuz tbh them seeds ain’t cheap & as much as the wait may be worth it any & every grower novice (myself) to pro needs a stash on hand at all x to be able to grow or experiment with. It get cold up here in the winter so I be bored in the house on em snow days. As always there’s always something new each week & this week I’ll have to say the terpinator has not disappointed. I have been using far more little in terms of nutrient doses through out this grow as I realized the automatic spray bottle I have is nearly 3 liters & I've only been administering the minimal doses/liter as instructed in the grow diary nutrients chart into the near 3 gal bottle this whole time!! Not going to go crazy & double up but before I up the dosage I’ll perform a very thorough flush from rain in the forecast to reset its Ph. Can’t wait to see how both male & female turbo diesel strains differ in development in the 8 remaining weeks.

This week was yet another warm stretch for October so I’ve been lettin em get plenty of vitamin D during the day to save my self an unnecessary high electric bill. I will begin completely flushing the eldest of the diesel in about a week & wait to resume flushing every time the medium completely dries. Haven’t seen a whole lotta budding since last week so I’ll check the ph & flush the ones that may be a bit too acidic & experiencing a temporary nutrient lock out.

This week I noticed a lot of white spots on my fan leaves which I’ve cut to try to stop the mold from spreading to my other 2 plants. Just the absolute worst timing being a week away from harvest 🤦‍♂️🏽. If problem gets worse may have to harvest early to stop it from spreading to the buds.

I couldn’t have done it I f it weren’t for this GD platform. All the members were very encouraging even after my 1st & 2nd grow ops were a failure!! So big up the whole grow diaries gang from beginner to seasoned vets! This grow def required a lotta patience but most importantly a timer so I nor any one else need to be present when the lights need to come on or go out. I didn’t use a co2 bag because with the amount of visitors I get there was more than enough of it to put some decent numbers on the scale! I harvested early than I wanted to due to a late mold infestation possibly from to much rainfall over the fall but nevertheless I managed to salvage the buds before any mold deposited into em from the fan leaves. I dried em for about a week in my mesh hanging rack & waited until the stems snapped clean in 2 to start curing em in my glass jars in the shed where it’s dark & nice & cold. I feel like I ring out the flavor better when I put it in a baggy & compress em under my heel in my sock because they were a bit dry. Love the aroma! Can’t stop rollin up😜! Tastes like a lime plum like toke! Still have another turbo diesel plant which will yield more & harvest during projected time frame. Tune into my Candy Kush diary which will also be harvested early December! As for any plans to grow anything new from seed to harvest I’m tryna get a hold of some sour tangie seeds here in the US!
