What's up, ladies and gents!
This week was fun - spring is coming on strong and I managed to get out in the garden to start setting up for some spring crops.
Meanwhile, in the tent things are going smoothly.
I decided that something needed to be done about how dry the soil was. I didn't soak it enough prior to sowing the seeds and because they're aerated pots they dry out really fast!
I have read that it is good practice to keep watering to a minimum and water around the stem when they are young so safe to say the rest of the pot was like the Sahara.
Considering this is going to be an organic grow with a super/living soil I didn't want to sacrifice the microbiome so I went out and bought some organic pea straw mulch and a wetting agent.
I laid the mulch down and watered the pots with 5% of their soil volume which was 550ml for the small pots and 1250ml for the big pot.
Ended up with the slightest bit of run off and the soil has stayed moist for days now so I'm happy with how it turned out.
Still waiting on my Root Roids to arrive and that should aid with kick-starting the life of the soil.
The only issues this week were (again) really low humidity levels (I'm talking 35-45%) which isn't desirable but, hey, it is what it is.
The Stardawg is still lagging but growing and doesn't look ill so that must count for something...
Anyways that's me for the week - adios amigos =)
Good luck with your first grow buddy. My advice for first grow is donβt over water π¦ feel the pot when itβs dry to gauge when you need to water. 2nd tip is be very careful with nutes , only go half max what the bottle recommends and see how you get on.
