Learned from the first Thai seed I planted they get extremely tall so I made sure I kept this one as short as possible. FIM'd around week 4 or 5 and then topped another 3 times to keep an even canopy. She now has 20+ tops 😊 Grow medium is homemade using compost from ducks & chickens which I supplemented with rock phosphate, crab meal, bone meal and dolomite lime. I have also used rice husks instead of perlite due to availablity to keep the soil aerated. Feeding schedule has been mostly seaweed and molasses in every watering so far.

Lots of growth again, she isnt far behind the big one.. I have squeezed all the tops this week (those that I could actually squeeze, the stems are super strong!) hopefully this will reduce the stretch, make them stronger. Just trying things to see what works and what doesn't. Need to stake around the plant to provide support at some point. Update: Noticed white pistils on a few branches... so we begin flowering with this one 😊. Same strain and same environment as my first grow but 7 weeks faster to begin flowering.. so for sure she is light and not age dependent to some degree.

The sun finally came out after 4 weeks of wet humid weather. She is 5 weeks into flower now with some nice little buds beginning to form. She has dropped lots of yellow leaves this week, no issues but I upper the nitrogen a wee bit just to make sure By adding in some diluted urine (had no other Nitrogen rich fertilizer available and I want to keep it Organic...😆) Tried this strain many times but only as brick weed... So what I really hope to create is nice sticky buds that have been dried and cured properly and then see what the difference is in taste/smell.

Weather is up and down still. 20c this morning with 95% humidity but these landrace Sativas are tough so no concern. I almost dont bother with her anymore, just water, inspect the plant daily for 10 mins and that's it. No need for the the hours and hours I spent brushing off spider mites earlier in the grow I now have predatory mites and insects like Praying Mantis doing the work for me 😊.. I love nature 😊 I've upped the bloom nutes this week, from what I've read they dont need much nutrients so I dont want to over do it at this point and it negatively effect my yield. She has been healthy from day one the only hiccup I've had was feeding her too much fulvic acid which I think wacked out the PH until I flushed real quick and managed to save her. Happy to have grown this 100% organic and not suffered difficency yet to date. Week 7 into flower and the buds are still relatively small so no idea how long this will take to mature?! Hopefully not 20 weeks as some can take !

Week 27 from seed and a lovely cool 18c this morning... Apart from the bud hungry bugs eating the plant, she does have some amazing bud development. Never seen a pure sativa close up before and always thought the buds would be thinner, although quite airy they are fat buds nonetheless. No signs of seeds either which I am surprised about with it being landrace late in flower.. She is quite sticky and the smell is beginning to come through the buds more. The smell reminds me of citrusy freshness, fruity/sweet. The test smoke I've had is really enjoyable and pleasant. The high is very clear with a fruity taste on your throat. I would say the high makes me more active in and around the garden as apposed to hybrid or indica flower. I cannot wait to smell and taste it when it ripens. If the bugs back off I will let it go 2-3 more weeks possibly but they're munching fast. Only 10 main tops left on the plant.. Spotted 2 types of praying mantis on the plant so hopefully less bugs now... we well see. Next season I will grow again but underneath an anti-bug net.. she had so much potential to be absolutely huge but bugs have not stopped attacking for 7 months! Still a nice plant but it can do much better here.

7 months after planting her from seed the day is finally here. A little earlier than I would of liked due to insects (crickets/grasshoppers eating buds) but she's thereabouts finished. Probably lost 1/3 of buds from the chewing insects but still a big yield and my drying room is full 😊 She survived two rainy season's and some serious wind from a tropical depression back in September. I have kept this grow completely organic so no pesticide or chemical fertilizers used. Apart from heavily amending the soil at the start I mostly fed her crabmeal once a month and seaweed and molasses in most waterings. A few of those waterings were diluted with my urine 😆👌 NPK right!? Why not.. then at the end I added a cultured pro biotic yogurt to the soil 2 days before I harvested. (Tip from a fellow grower @med_in_tropic - thanks bro) Not sure if it made any difference as I cannot compare with another plant but, the plant starting smelling like lemon furniture polish.. like a lemon scent with a fuel undertone. Almost menthol like 🤷‍♂️.. smells amazing. Me and my wife drank tea from the trimming and the citrusy flavour came though into the tea which was nice. Weather wise the temperature is down now to around 16c at night with RH around 50% so the buds should dry much slower than the last harvest so I should get a better flavour profile. Smoke report to follow after she has been in a jar for a week or so.. I did try a bud sample a few weeks back and the taste then was already pleasant so for sure this will be fire... 🔥 Thanks for all the kind comments, this was my first ever grow start to finish. Already looking forward to next season 😁

I think a little chewed in dry season is okay. I find bugs are easier to control than mite. And when there are bugs, there will be less mites. At this point, your Thai girls will want more P and K.

@Top_Banana, crab meal is wonderful. It is a main source of chitosan. Good for roots but it may idelay flowering time. Another calcium source is egg shell tea. Should be organic enough 5555. It is popular where i am.

@Med_in_Tropic, wow, lots of info for the memory bank.. thanks.. I've ordered some Biobizz calMag just to be safe. I have added a monthly top dress of crab meal from the beginning and thought that would be sufficient.. will see of biobizz makes a difference.. thanks 🙏

Hi @Top_Banana, Thai sativa does not take much. Less is more. So, what your have would be plenty. I think your biobloom has plenty of every thing already. There is a local bioblom and I am not sure if it is the same as imported stuff. The local stuff doesn't say what are in it. I have never got around to using it either. Overfeeding plants is a sure way to ruin it. Rock phosphate and bone meal in the soil could block calcium and magnesium. Again, your biobloom may has those already. If there are sign of yellowing, cal mag spray may be in order. In Thailand, rice farmer use Cal Mag for their paddies and it is available in farming supply. If not the internet will do. My experience with calcium and magnesium is that they are immobile during flowering phase. And it is best to spray are round or two. For pottassium, I have no good organic solution with local products. And I don't eat enough banana to have enough banana peals for use as fertilizer. Instead, I use salt petre - potassium nitrate. That is also available from farmer fertilizer shop as 13-0-46 fertilizer. However, I find it more effective when mix one tea spoon of salt petre to a cup of "artificial lime juice" before use. Artificial lime juice is available at super market. Basically, it is food grade citric acic. And it helps reduce potassium burns. @GYOweed knows the chemistry. I just know that it work.

@Legendaryseedthumb, Hi, New to all of this. We're Avid gardeners and practice Permaculture here but this is the first grow of the herb. We have had spidermites since practically day 1 and Japanese beetles every evening. There is only so much neem oil you can apply! I have to make do with a small paint brush and persistence with the mites which has gotten me this far. Nothing I can do about the Japanese beetles I just hope to make it to the end and smoke my first grow. 🙏 Thanks for the kind comments and will be sure to check out your diary..

The land race plants that I used to grow don't mature uniformly. After two months into flower, it was like weekly harvest of a few branhes for next two months. Plants keep sprouting new tops. And flowers never look nice. On the other hand, the high are not like modern European "Thai landrace" designed for tent grow. I guess that why brick weeds are harvest from a field at a convernient time. Usually brick weed has every thing from buds, seeds, and leaves. You may want to put up some target board near your plant and fire a few rounds of bullet into it.
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented3 years ago
@Top_Banana, it will look like weed that you got from the brick. Sticky but no where near OG Kush. After eight weeks, you can reasonably start to trim branchesh with heavy flowers. I use wifi-microscope to decide.
Top_Banana
Top_Bananacommented3 years ago
@Med_in_Tropic, Ah ok, I get you.. so when to harvest this strain.. I've read the buds become resinous when ripe?
Med_in_Tropic
Med_in_Tropiccommented3 years ago
Hi @Top_Banana, mine was also a Thai from brick weeds. Came from an North East train 😀😀😀😀😀 I guess its from that area. Gun range target board. People like to steal weeds. Put up target board is like a scare crow. Otherwise load cray pellets in your shot gun and shoot at the thiefs. It won't kill them but it usually give them good lesson.
