This is the beginning I suppose.
I started 5 seeds of Blue Jack. I’ve had them for some time had just never got around to doing anything with them.
Boy I was ill prepared. I had a 50w light I got from Costco that I thought would do. Yeah it did just about enough to get the sprouting and then not much more after that. It wasn’t long before I was researching everything about growing and trying to source grow equipment.
Anyway I started 5 seeds at the beginning of this round. Two did nothing. Probably because my conditions were non existent and I probably planted that seed too deep. Anyway we’ll say they were junk seeds. I’m left with 3. The other two Mary and Jackie they turned out to be males so they got the chop, sorry but ya gotta go!
I’m left with my one Janky Jane. Oh man. I had this tiny seedling in a big ass 5 gallon pot. Over watered the thing early on in her life. I ended up getting fungus gnats because it was in the 19 degree celsius range. Mary at the time seemed to be my rockstar and Jane was my ugly duck that I was close to giving up on. I had a friend tell me to give it chance. So I did. I’m glad I did. Jane turned out to be my only female.
I have no notes to share. This is too early on in my growing endeavour for me to even do this yet. I start to take notes week 1 of flower.
Jane is the one on the right in the purple pot.
Anyway as I messed this diary up. I’m just gonna make this germination section the whole from seed and vegetative stage.

-Aug 18th my Apogee PAR meter arrived in the mail today and I decided to lower the light 21 inches above the canopy and and begin blasting it in the 890 range. This is the beginning of me chasing a nutrient deficiency not realizing my light is cooking my plant.

This week was a three watering week. I was chasing nutrient deficiencies and next week I’m going to clue in that my light is maybe just a little too much. My first initial flush was my down fall and I swung from low to high back to low again and I’ve been trying to get her stabilized.
I feel like 6.2 to 6.5 is a good range for Sphagnum Peat/coco/perlite mix. ⬅️ Let me know in the comments what you think a good PH range for a soilless mix is.

Well this is the end of week 5. I sometimes think now that am I tracking a week late? Is it possible that I’m now finished week 6 instead? I dunno gotta start thinking about that time to flush.

I’m struggling with finding a good PH window to be in.
I’m in a Sphagnum peat moss/coco/perlite mix. Has a slight nutrient charge and a wetting agent with some limestone. I’ve researched that some people say 5.8-6.2 is a good range and others say 6.2-6.5 is the range. ⬅️ Please anyone who has experience with a soilless mix, please comment on what is the preferred range for PHing my water.
I’m about to water my plant today. I haven’t used any Dynomyco since she’s been transplanted in this 5 gallon fabric pot.
Can I mix in some Dynomyco in my water and apply it like that or should I just top dress a little and then just water the medium? Happy growing!
Nah I dont think you need it - it would take several days for the fungus to bloom and synergise with the root system, the fungus aids water and nutrient absorbtion across the root system.
The plant is fading already which means either it is going into the death cycle from here and sucking the nutrients out of its leaves or it is getting hungrier as bud production ramps up, I would say try giving it a nice little feed and see if the colour picks up - if it doesnt you are in the end game and there's zero need for adding the fungus, if the colour does pick up your rhizosphere is working just fine and needs nothing extra - save the resources for your next grow and put what you have learned into action! ;)

Well this was my first grow. I’m definitely happy with the end results so far. Though the real test will be when I go to smoke it. We’ll see if the flush was on and if it was dried and cured well. So there’s still some work ahead before we get a final verdict.
Well here we are!! WOOOOOO HARVEST TIME!!!! Haha well we’re not done yet. There’s still work to do. I honestly don’t understand why Growdiaries wants a wet weight. I could care less about what the wet weight is. So yeah I’m putting 60 as a generic value. Will update actual dry weight.

@Papa_T, set it, and forget it! Lol that’s pretty much how my grows going. I just got a light a bad ass light so I have to get my indoor set up going. That’s where the challenge is, and I’ve never done that. You’re ahead of me in that realm, so I’ll hopefully learn from your mistakes 😂 my dad used to grow, so I’m hoping he lends a hand from time to time. I do enjoy looking out my door at those big bushy beautiful ladies.
@Growing_With_Friends, that’s cool you got your own compost going on. To be honest up until this yeah I haven’t ever really had much interest in horticulture in general. I bought some beans a while back at a corner store in Ottawa and just decided to crack em. I was helli ill prepared with just a shitty pot of shrub soil and a 50W light from Costco hahaha. I’ve been addicted to growing marijuana for 79 days now. Experience is key bro. Books and YouTube university will only take ya so far. I’ve also learned to just make decisions and live with them, if things go wrong try and rectify and learn from your mistakes. Also trying a few different things to see what works and what doesn’t. I wanna grow it all and do everything now I just don’t have the space 🤣. Well we’ve made this far we gotta be doing something right.
I also learned from a friend I had a decade ago. He grew and it was fun times. I retained some of what I learned with him and his knowledge has helped me a little at the beginning. It’s huge learning curve man. Or maybe I’m making things too complicated, I’m making it!!!

@Dither, ohhh geez this grow I don’t remember it’s been three years since that grow. I’m currently growing in organic living soil with dry amendments now so I’m not overly concerned with flushing. Plus it seems that now flushing is a myth and doesn’t affect bud quality.

Really nice informative diary. My plants are on day 55 and nowhere near where your plant was at day 55. I prob still have 4-5 weeks to go on an auto flower! So much for speedy grow and harvest!! My day 55 is whole plant life 55 days is yours just 55 days in flower or is that plant age including veg? So I maybe doing worse than u on my first grow!

No when you saw Day 55 you were looking at day 55 of flowering. Once I flip to flower I don’t really care about how long the over all life of the plant.

Thanks man. In actuality I’m having a hard time keeping her happy. The leaves are pretty trashed. The buds look nice n fat though. The only saving grace of my grow is my HLG Scorpion Diablo, that’s the real star here.

Yeah I like the cheeses too. They’re nice. The cheeses seemto be a more predominant in Europe vs North America. It’s hard to come by around here. I have some critical cheese auto flower seeds along with some White Widow so those are gonna be my third round of fun.
I have a friend in Germany who grows and he said to check out Zamnesia. Unfortunately they only distribute in Europe so that isn’t a seed bank I can pan purchase from. I purchase my seeds from amsterdamseedsupplydot com. I make an order and get a free pair of socks 👌🤣.
@Papa_T, nice! Good work with the cloning, I have cloned other variety of plants with varying success in the past but never a weed. I am somewhere where it is not permitted to grow so I am sticking with autos for now.
I am already planning the next two grow as well, got a seeds mafia competition coming up with some chese plants (amazing flavour if you never tried it) and then a grow sponsored by Zamnesia for Blueberry which I havent even seen for about 15 years and wanted that hit of nostalgia.
Good thing with autos is pick the flavour you want, look after it well and say 10-12 weeks later you have a pretty much guaranteed harvest - you could even have 3-4 in a tent under basically the same conditions, one seedling one veging one hitting flower and one finishing off, a harvest every 3 weeks. If you have the patience fir a photo but want to try an auto...maybe check out Auto Ultimate or something? They be 14-16 week monsters.
I am already planning a 4x4 tent rather than the 2x2, and a bigger light, and exhaust, and oscillators, and and and and...god I hope it becomes legal here soon, gonna be like the Garden if Weeden up in here.
@@MrStinky, Before I sent Jane into flower I took some cuttings and made some clones of her because if it turned out to be a phenomenal phenotype I wanted some back up. Plus I just wanted to test run my cloning abilities. It was a rough go but I’m happy to say that I’m 100% success rate in my clones.
Actually I see myself takings cuttings of new phenos before they go into flower. If you don’t back up the genetic before flowering and the smoke is nice, it’s gone forever.
After this round of Penelope and two clones. I wanna try a few autoflowers for the next round. Hahaha already have my third grow planned and I’m not even done the first.

@Buddhakush, yeah at least you’re using something to measure the light output. That’s good to have two sources of information. I use the Apogee MQ-500 quantum light meter to do my readings.
Does your light have a dimmer on it? Or is it straight on and off? What I tend to do is keep my lights further away and then adjust the light to give me the PAR value I want.

I have a Quantum PAR meter and I compare it to the photone app. That app is fairly spot on if you have a new enough phone. I just raised my lights up 6 inch since I have plenty of room. Took me down to 575-650 across the canopy. Haven't raised the lights in 3 weeks until now. The plants grew into them. Just started showing signs of stress this evening so I'm sure I'll be fine.
@Buddhakush, haha thanks man. Those grows are few years old now. I just fired up my tent about a week or two ago. I got some auto flowers I’m starting to muck with for the first time.
Though I do think you may be pushing a bit more PAR than you should. For VEG I don’t push more than 600 and for flowering I push it up to 800. But if you take a look at few of my grows the plants did pretty much the same thing when they went into flowering. What are you using to measure how much light output you’re pushing?
@OGSesh, ouuuf try and get a dehumidifier up in there man. Too much RH for flowering.
Yeah I only saw a handful of them. So I think I caught it early. I watched the soil for a bit and they seem to just be on the under side of the pot. Oh well I think I got it under control. Spent my afternoon fucking around and cleaning trays. It is what it is. No matter how clean you try to keep your space can’t stop microscopic life forms. 🤣🤷♂️🏼
@Papa_T, I'm also a little worried now. My girls are starting to bloom, getting tarry buds and other sticky shit. Humidity stays at about 75% throughout the day. I have good ventilation, but I'm afraid of mold. I hope your buds will be ok, mate.

Fuckin busted out my safers 3 in 1 on that shit. Tomorrow is her last day under the lights and then it’s 72 hours dark and then chop. Fingers crossed 🤞.

@Growing_With_Friends, absolutely brother patience is key and we’ll be rewarded. I actually still have a fair bit before I get to try my weed. At least a good month and a half of drying and curing before it’s actually smokeable. Well hopefully the weather keeps going for you to finish it off quite nicely. Yeah I’m thinking it’s quite possible that Jane was heavily underfed. Still trying to figure out my methods to my madness. But once I figure that out oh boy watch out!! Gonna be growing some real dank sticky icky!!

@Papa_T,i still have 6 weeks if the weather works on my favor. I’m still pounding my plants with bloom and they seem to be eating it right up. I’m almost jealous that you’ll be tasting your harvest soon! But slow and steady wins the race

Thanks yeah she’s got some issues with yellow fan leaves but I’m close to harvesting so the flush is on and let the plant consume itself and fatten up them buds.

@Themythicalchristine,Thank you. I’m having some trouble with it right now but I’m gonna have to ride this out. I made some mistakes on this grow. Hence why I’m here to learn from more experienced growers. I can only learn so much alone.
@BearBuds, haha thanks man. Though unfortunately all the main tops had to get junked. My RH got to high near the end and because it was tight dense buds the inside molded a bit. So I harvested 97 grams total and 26.5 grams ended up getting wasted. But still 70 grams for one plant I’m happy with the results for a first grow. @Budboxbio, Yeah so when you look at your seedling now 🤣 its much nicer than what Jane was right? Lol. I actually was going to give up on her early on. I have a friend in Germany he said no to keep her going and that she’d grow out of it. She did, she was also my only female out of the lot.
