For my 2nd grow, I added an additional light. This one is a Spider Farmer sf-1000, bringing the total wattage of my tent up to 300. I decided to start 3 seeds this time, with the hopes of avoiding a repeat of last time where one of my plants were stunted. I will cull it down to 2 once they are out of the woods and in the veg stage. All 3 seeds popped a little behind schedule, but more than made up for it over the following days. I had to make an emergency trip to the local garden store to pick up more Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil, due to vastly underestimating the amount of medium I would need after upgrading from 3 to 5 gallon pots. Planted them on 8/18/21, 3 days after placing them in water. 2 of the 3 plants are coming along nicely. Having a little more trouble controlling environmental factors this time, the 2nd light definitely increases the heat in the tent. Fingers crossed, hopefully this will be a fun grow and I'm definitely looking forward to sharing the progress with everyone!
Pretty uneventful first week. Grew quickly for the first couple of days then slowed right down. Hopefully that means they were putting down a good root system! The last 24 hours they've seemed to pick up the pace again, hoping that means they're kicking into full veg! Have had better luck this week controlling the environmental factors, so hopefully the next few weeks will be fun!
Pretty good week! Kept the environmental factors within a pretty good range. The plants seem healthy and strong! Can definitely see where the XL in the name could come into play when comparing week 2 of this grow to my last round. The 2nd light may very well be helping the faster pace as well. So far extremely happy with the results! I will be out of town next week and trusting my wife who is a rookie, but fingers crossed she can keep it going and it will be a good week!
Took out the 3rd plant at the beginning of week 3 as planned. Unfortunately, I've been out of town all week for work, so I've had to rely on assistance from my wife. They seem to be doing well though, very happy with the progress this week. Both plants have seem to just hit the stretch, so the next couple of weeks should be fun as long as they are maintaining their grow when I return from my trip. Will definitely give the girls some tlc when I get home! They are slightly shorter than I expected, but with startI ng lst 5 days ago, it's definitely understandable. So far, the strain seems extremely hardy and adaptable.
Once again, it's been a pretty good week. The plants continue to bush out, I believe they are just at the point where vertical growth is about to explode! Recently got my first good lst in, which during my last grow was the point the plants really took off. Fingers crossed, this time will be similar. Once again, I was hoping for more vertical growth this week bit what can you do? This is the last week of veg, as pistils started forming 2-3 days ago and have multiplied since. Here's to a hopefully happy flowering period! Will be switching nutes this week and adding flowering nutrients while weaning the girls off of the veg ones. As of today, the plants are 24 days old, and I am extremely pleased with the results. Despite the lack of height, the plants seem to be very healthy and creating many spots for (hopefully) nice buds to form! Once again, looking forward to see what comes over the next week, hopefully I will continue to see more pistils and the plant will officially hit the stretch!
With my 2nd grow, I've decided to experiment on the effectiveness of lst vs defoliation. The left plant I've done a lot of bends and tie downs, the right plant I've done a lot more trimming. So far the left plant seems to be larger and healthier than the right, but the right has more visible flowering locations than the right. It's starting to get a little chilly in the garage at night so I may need to invest in a heater very soon. Overall, I am very happy with the progress, and have high hopes for the girls now that they are really starting to take off! Today is day 34 (37 days from germination) so I still think this strain is on pace to finish a week or two faster than my first grow!
Extremely happy with how these girls are progressing so far! I've accepted that the 4 foot height is never going to come, but they have shot up almost 3 inches in 3 days so fingers crossed, they've hit the stretch! The smaller plant is catching up to the big one again, but does not have nearly as many prime bud sites. The big has 16, while the smaller has 12. For it being day 40 since putting them in soil, I am extremely happy with this Crystal Candy so far. Since the end of week 5 is tomorrow, I feel like these plants have grown even faster than my first attempt, and are bushier too. Kudos to Seedsman, so far this strain has definitely exceeded my expectations!
Today is day 47, and I am more than happy with the progress the girls have made! After another week of minimal input due to being out of town, they were a little stressed but I got a good trim/lst session in yesterday which seems to have helped. Hopefully I will be able to give them the love they deserve from now on, but they seem to be doing well despite the lack of attention.
Have been fighting a nutrient issue for the past couple of weeks. Was about to give up on the left plant, but fingers crossed, I think I may have fixed the issue. I always suspected if was a calcium/magnesium deficiency but simply adding more cal mag did not fix the issue. I realized that my ph meter was off, due to the runoff being considerably lower than the pure water I added to flush roots. A couple of days after the flush and adding new nutes, they seem to be peeking up and doing a bit better. This was completely my fault, I was not able to give the girls the tlc they need due to work, but hopefully they're heading in the right direction and I will still be able to harvest. Afajn, the genetics on this plant have been incredible, the poor performance was completely due to neglect on my part.
Struggles continue. Might have been too late to save the left one :( I'm going to try and limp her to the finish line at least! Figure about 2-3 weeks until harvest. Strangely the trichomes seem to be ahead of the hairs this time. I think I will still get a pretty nice harvest, but don't want to jinx myself. It's starting to get pretty cold in my garage, so I'm either going to have to get a heater for the tent, or take the winter off from growing. Either way, I'm just going to give the girls as much tlc as possible and hope that translates into some pretty good thc down the road, despite all the issues (self-caused) I've had with this grow.
Getting close! About 1/3rd of the hairs are red, and a majority of the trichomes are cloudy. This very well could be my last post before harvest. I want to thank Sweet Seeds, as this strain has been phenomenal to work with despite the neglect. The buds seem to be super fat and trichome production has been off the charts the past couple of weeks. Today is day 75, will start the flush in a few days and keep my fingers crossed for some weight!
Today is day 82, should be harvested by now but due to user error the girls are still going. I did start the flush a few days ago so I am anticipating shutting the lights off on them in the next few days.
What a harvest! Did not expect the size or quantity of buds. The previous issues did not seem to bother them at all, I just can't believe how much flower there is! Got it all drying, hopefully in a week I will be able to do the final recap and give a dry weight. Big shout out to Sweet Seeds, I don't want to overestimate it but I think we all will be shocked by the amount of dried bud I have next week!
Super happy with the grow! Huge, dense nugs made up a majority of the harvest! Ended up with 230 grams, just over 8 ounces! Fingers crossed, it smells much better than my first grow at this point. Again, shout out to Sweet Seeds, for how many mistakes I made during the middle of this grow due to lack of time, it held up really well. Very resilient strain, cannot wait to try it out! For my next grow, I will be trying another Seedsman strain, this time will be Green Crack. Already have them in paper towels, so expect that diary shortly! Thank you all who took the time to check this one out, it was a fun grow!
