Hello, this is my first grow attempt. Although I am a rookie I am setting the bar high for myself. I will document this journey in detail, Wish me luck! I chose SunWest Genetics for my seeds and decided to go with Tangerine Dream Auto. I dropped two seeds into a mason jar filled half way with bottled spring water, I then put the glass in a dark cabinet for approximately 18 hrs. After the 18 hrs I then went to the wet paper towel method and stored them in a gallon freezer bag, blowing air in the freezer bag for humidity and oxygen before sealing and putting back into the same cabinet for approximately 24 hrs. After the 24 hrs I had 1/4”-1/2” tails sprouted. I then mixed up my coco coir with some worm castings, perlite, 4-4-4, fertilizer, and some Lotus Grow pro series 8-4-13. The seeds have been placed into their forever homes (3.5 gallon buckets) and watered in with PH 6.3-6.5 distilled water via spray bottle.
Week one is in the books “Technically”. Tomorrow evening is actually the one week mark from when I placed the sprouted seeds (Tangerine Dream Auto seeds via SunWest Genetics) into the medium and it’s forever home, However Tuesday works better for me to continue updating on the process and hopefully progress lol. You will also notice my two little side project (two seeds I found in a bag of flower Wonka bars). I don’t know what to do with them as I do not know if they are male or female or Pheno or auto’s but they seem to be doing well and don’t want to discard of them just yet. Anywho, this week was pretty simple.. monitoring temp and humidity, watering when dry with a small amount of distilled PH 6.3-6.5 and also a small amount of PH water mixed with a little molasses, root stimulator, and liquid seaweed. 18 hours of light, 6 hours of darkness, and running a dehumidifier out side of the tent. Also running my ventilation system when needed ( on average probably on 8-10 hrs per day and plugged into a smart plug so I can turn on and off when needed even if I am away). Any feedback is welcomed & appreciated.
Pretty significant growth in between weeks 1-2 Trying my best to not over complicate things and keep it simple as possible. Introduced a small amount of CalMag concentrated water (distilled PH 6.3-6.5) also continued with my water mixture that contains molasses, root stimulator, and liquid seaweed. Watering every two days or so as soil drys out. Bumped my light intensity up gradually throughout the week to about 65-70% intensity. Temps seem to be 80-82 during the day and 75-78 at night with RH consistently around the 55 mark. The two plants that derived from seeds out of a bag purchased from dispensary seem to be doing well, assuming they are photoperiod I am hoping I get lucky and have at least one female. By the time I harvest the two Tangerine Dream in the blue 3.5 gallon buckets hoping I can flip the photoperiod plant/s to flower with a 12/12 light schedule. Also thinking about tying down lower branches to grow outward to get a bushier plant? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Week 3 of Veg. Early in the week I noticed that one of the mystery plants had an abnormality. The leaves were curling in on one of the plants in the 1.5 gallon black containers. In week 2 I mentioned I amped up the light intensity and I came to the conclusion that I did so too rapidly and I believe it was shocking the plant. I backed the light back down to about 60-64% and it seemed to have fixed that issue. In week 3 I also started to defoliate and low stress train the plants. I know it is controversial to defoliate auto flowers but I have choose to do so selectively and only a few leaves at a time, allowing the plants time to adjust and recover. The plants seem resilient and have responded well to it, this has allowed much more light and airflow to get to the lower nodes and future bud sites. The watering and nutrients is the same as it has been for the most part, although I did brew up a gallon of molasses water and banana peel tee 🍌. I introduced it to the plants early in the week and got some real nice growth over the following couple of days. I am getting excited as this is my first grow ever and it seems I am inching myself closer and closer to flower with healthy sturdy plants. 🤞🏻
Rookie Budz made a rookie mistake this week… was too aggressive with one of the branches on one of the Tangerine Dreams and it flopped on me. It was the 2nd node from the top, it did not completely sever so I have it bonded back in place with some garden wire hoping that it can somehow recover. Other then that seems to be smooth sailing, introduced a CO2 canister at the beginning of the week that I have since removed (had it up a full 7 days). Also on my most recent water I added some Bud Candy concentrate to my 6.3-6.5 PH water and watered the two auto tangerine dreams as they appear to be in pre flower and close to full blown flower. The two side project photo periods just received a mixture of the molasses/banana peel tea and a little calmag water.
I have been very busy this week (we made an offer on a new home that got accepted) so needless to say my mind has been preoccupied with other things and the plants have not gotten the usual attention. I think this may have been a good thing though, I watered once with PH 6.3-6.5 CalMag and Bud Candy infused water and then 3 days later or so with plain PH’ed water. Other then that I have pretty much left them alone and they appear to be as healthy as ever. It did kind of surprise me that the smaller of the two Tangerine Dream auto flowers seems to be roughly a week ahead in flowering compared to the much more robust Tangerine Dream that has been kicking the little ones ass all the way from germination to this point.
A few weeks behind on posting any progress.. I am in the process of buying/selling homes which has occupied my mind and time. Onto the plants, they are smelly, sticky, hairy, and starting to really crystallize! Lots of bud sites also. I have pretty much let them do their thing with mixing up nutrients schedule. Last two weeks it was PH’ed water with bud candy and calmag added. This week and next week Its a little liquid seaweed and bud candy. First time grow and just kinda mixing it up as I see fit.
Moving has really hindered my ability to update this diary, hopefully I will be able to do better the next run, however I have still been taking good care of the ladies and I am getting close to chopping. On Tuesday I started the flushing process with the plan to chop them and start drying process sometime next week.
