First attempt at growing Auto OG from MSNL and my first diary here. Growing in Sungro Sunshine (peat+perlite) with 1 tsp of Cal-Mag powder mixed directly into the soil with a little added perlite as I found the original mix to not be airy enough in previous grows. Currently have the little girl in the germination room, a large cupboard lol, with a bloomspect 600w blurple while my other grow in the tent with the XS1500 finishes it up. I made many mistakes so i'm looking forward to any input and would welcome any help, tips and advice moving forward. 😁 -- Day 3 Plant got taller so added soil an perlite an gave a small watering --- Day 5 Plant got taller an leaves expanding vigorously so added soil an perlite again then moistened the entire top layer with vapor as this peat mix creates drains if not set properly.

Leaves look a bit droppy. Maybe i overwatered or underwatered not sure, what do you guys think? Should i move down the blurple to give it a little more light? By next week my other grow is ready for harvest so its under the super bright XS1500 so hopefully it will look better then.

This week was alot better! In my rush to get the seed potted I neglected to mix a few blaukorn directly into the peat and this sungro basically has no added nutrients so my little baby was suffering. Within two days of adding the baby handful of blaukorn and a little water within 2 days the tiny leaves turned from slight yellowing to lush and green and growth resumed as it had remain stuck for a while. I also moved her from the germination cupboard to full lighting in the tent. After that dried out gave it a bit of water again to finish disintegrate the remaining solid pieces of blaukorn into the soil then later on when dry i gave it a 1ml to 1L water dose of Cal-Mag liquid from Bloom City for its first real fertilizer dose and it's fully back on track now other than maybe need to mix some more soil and add to the pot. I want to follow up with Bloom City Silica next before the first dose of FFGB i know i can't mix the Cal-mag or silica with the FFGB but what about the silica and cal-mag for normal waterings?

who said you cant mix cal mag with silica ? Thats preposterous you can certainly mix the cal mag and silica with what ever nutrient you have though just keep an eye on the ec level so you dont overfeed :)

Things looking okay this week. Gave it the first Silica and FFGB shots this week. Seemed to respond by producing massive fan leaves that span the entire width of the pot. Schedule is Water(and CalMag) - Water (And Silica) - Nutes(FFGB) Also added some medium to ensure it has enough to grow all over as when it gets bigger its difficult to add it without messing up the whole plant with wet peat or accidently breaking a branch or smth. I don't apply any techniques mostly due to lack of knowledge what technique you recommend if any for this plant based on the slow start it had?

Flowers now start to appear, everything more more less seems okay. Scent has begun to smell especially strong of OG esp after watering. Switched from Grow Big to Tiger Bloom, basically plant only got two feedings of grow big. Given the rapid growth looks like 70 day harvest although according to msnl can be as short as 8 weeks.

Easy growing so far, no problems of note, i upped the nutes and amount watered. Still water-water-feed every two days or so but just a bit more as she seems quite thirsty in this phase. Only very light LST done, i.e. leaf tucking, lol as i had too much bad experiences stressing this autos out. Smelling very high at this point. She has begun to share the tent with her dank cousin that now came out my germination cupboard so look out for another diary soon.

Still going nice, some of the lower leaves are discolouring and one or two yellow an green. Could that be a nutrient deficiency or overwatering not sure given i only water 1L or so every other day an the pot is really dry by the time its ready for watering. Doesn't seem to have much of a smell anymore either versus earlier on, i'm hoping that stank returns.

Some of the pistil have just begun to curl inwards, alot still outwards though an generally seems close to finishing. The only problem i think i have is excessive yellowing of the leaves. I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour for this strain as it matures or if it's a nutrient defiency but i'm afraid to go hard as in the past i got nutrient burn, bad tasting chem buds and extremely deformed leaves and bananas for over fertiziling with FF trio.

Based on the pics above do i have a nutrient deficieny or is that yellowing just the plant maturing?

Hello sashatt it is not a yellowing due to maturing. It is because you don't give her enough nutrients so your plant is consuming the nitrogen in the leaves. Try to increase a bit your dose of nutes and it will be fine. Good luck. Bye

How do i see the trichomes clearly to tell if to harvest or not, with a loupe ad just seems as though all are like little white dots. I have a Carson Microbrite, the clear trichomes appear clearly but its near impossible to use with my shaky hands and without being very close.

I use a pocket microscope at 60x power and the trichomes are still a bit small but big enough to see clear/cloudy/amber. Unfortunately the laws of physics make the depth of field (what is in focus) of anything very small. It doesn't matter if it's an electronic magnifier, a cheap plastic pocket microscope or an expensive microscope, the distance that is in focus is very small. The higher the magnification the smaller the zone that is in focus so use the lowest power that allows you to see. I have a neurological condition that causes my hands to shake and sometimes very badly. With my pocket microscope I put my pinkie finger on the end of the magnifier. Then I rest that pinkie finger on the plant so the magnifier and plant move together. I also sit cross legged on the floor and put both elbows on my knees and hold the magnifier with both hands forming a triangle. Then when pushed against my face it gets more stable. Still, I can't do it on bad days when my shaking is acting up. If you have a serious problem I would get a desk type electronic or optical microscope. Then use small scissors or snips to take a small sample piece and put under the microscope. That way you aren't touching or holding anything.

So based on how she looks i would say about ready, tried using the Carson Microbrite and finally got to see the trichomes that everyone talks about. I actually saw 1 amber trichome, the majority cloudy and some still clear looking, but its very hard to use so i can't look at all sections thus i'm hoping for the best. I pruned off the yellow leaves manually so she's pretty naked now. I can't help but think it would have been bigger with a better feeding schedule, but ya live ya learn! On track for 78 day cut barring some catastrophic situation and will be flushed later this week or begining of the next.

Flushed this week, everything looks ready, most of the trichomes are cloudy with few amber ones. Unfortunately i was away over the weekend an didn't get to put on my ACs over the weekend and the timers for some reason didn't kick in so it baked at highs of around 30 degrees during the day. I'm hoping not too much quality was lost but not much else can be done in this Caribbean heat. Looking to harvest by Sunday so going in the dark soon.

Hey my much more experienced grow mates do i remove the fan leaves now in the last week and dry trim the rest after? I live in a really hot climate, how do i prevent terpene loss during drying & how long should i dry for? Finally how long do i cure for and any recommendations?

I do a full "wet" trim at harvest. I work with branches in as large a sections as I can work with while trimming. This is just because it's easier to hang 10 big pieces than 30 smaller bits. Drying time depends a lot on temperature and relative humidity. Lower humidity and higher temperatures will make drying proceed faster. When I think they are getting close I start bending the stems. When too wet a stem will mostly just bend while if too wet it will snap like a dry twig. When I sorta get a break with some mushing and the two sides remain attached it's about done. Try to dry slowly. Most of mine take about a week but I think slowing it down to two weeks would be better. For curing I cut off the buds and put them into a airtight container. Glass jars work well but my favorite are stainless steel bento boxes because they don't break. Light can't get in. And the large surface area allows for great ventilation when you "burp" during the cure. I put a cheap digital humidity sensor in each container and shoot for 58-62% relative humidity during the cure. If you plant to smoke your product take a small sample when your buds finish drying. Smoke it and take notes of what you think. Then every week during cure take another sample and give it a smoke. This will let you taste & smell how it changes during the cure so you can determine how far you want to go. I personally consider 2 weeks to be the minimum and three weeks is my sweet spot. Going longer does produce a smoother smoke but you get diminishing returns over time. There is a huge change during the 1st week, less during the 2nd and so on.

Plant was overall easy to grow, very very frosty coming down to the end all over. Fat pods all over, minus for my issues due to nutrient deficiency and or overwatering i would say the yield is pretty decent. Ofc the proof is in the pudding so when i sample i'll update an let you guys know if its as OG as da real OG.
