Hey folks, After 8 days of drying between hanging and paper bags, the plants seemed about ready for a trim and jarring. Jon Snow went into bags on day 4 of drying, and the other plants went in on day 6. My daily environment readings have been between 15-19C, and 50% and 70% RH - getting this high only in the early hours of the morning. I sleep in the same room and the ventilation isnt great, but it was only at these levels from about 3-7am, when I would wake and switch on the dehumidifier. Too noisy a machine to have running all night. There doesn't appear to be any signs of mold anyway, so all looks good. If anything, I would have preferred them to dry a bit slower, but they were ready now. I trimmed them and jarred them in about 2.5 hours. I didn't go too heavy handed on the trimming to be honest - this is a head stash for me and I'm not too fussy, and can always manicure before consuming if I want. Anything with absolutely zero trichomes was removed. It was a pleasant afternoon, watching some youtube and drinking coffee, and admiring the different smells and structures of the plants before me. Jon Snow, weight before jarring was about 56g all included. When adding to the scales I was extremely surprised and had to double check - I was not expecting this much in a tiny space with a tiny light. About half of that weigh was top colas and the rest smaller, though still dense nugs. Really pleased with the appearance and feel of these buds, I can't wait to try them. Cinderella Jack, weight before jarring was about 42g. At this point in the weighing I was truly shocked, double checked everything again, weighed individual nugs. All correct. Dense, stinky, slightly foxtailed colas made up the majority of the weight. My favourite of the bunch, even before sampling. It just looks and smells the business. Great genetics. Northern Lights, weight before jarring was about 25g. Not a bad result all things considered - this plant had its seed coat stuck on, which I ham-fistedly plucked off, stunting it from the get go. It was also the plant which was receiving the least light throughout the grow. Based on my measurements it was always receiving about 20-30% less light than the others, just based on the logistics of my grow area and placement of everything. The nugs on this were VERY leafy, which is not unexpected as I was defoliating this plant the most heavily throughout the grow to try and make space for the others. She truly was the least favourite child, so I'm not going to hold these shortcomings against RQS when it comes time to review. Total weight before jarring: ~122g. Very happy growmie here. I think this can be somewhat attributed to my unorthodox lighting schedule. These plants were sitting under 24 hours of VERY intense LED lights since about week 5, when preflowers emerged. Generally it is not recommended to exceed a Daily Light Integral (DLI) of ~50 with cannabis, and these levels are recommended only for very late flower. I had them at 50 DLI from day 35 / 28 (Jon Snow / others) and ramped it up even more to ~60 DLI during late bloom. There were definitely some signs of stress but not enough to hinder their bud growth. Autoflowers can really take a lot of punishment... until they can't! I don't recommend you try this with your plants, but I do recommend researching DLI and autoflowers - there's some growers pushing it even harder and getting great results. I'll be back to give the strains a proper smoke report in a week or two, once they've had time to settle in the jars. I'll be burping daily unless the RH gets too high, in which case I'll remove the buds to air them out for a day or two. Thanks for reading!
