Testing for Connoisseur genetics
Outback haze #1
Okay so I was asked to pick from a bunch of strains to test for Connoisseur genetics , and me being a lover
of Sativa's and anything that was made by the original haze master Nevil Schoenmakers R.I.P
For those that don't know of him here is a snippet of info taken from wikipedia
Schoenmakers was born in Perth, Western Australia to Dutch parents, Schoenmakers moved to the Netherlands in 1976. There he started growing cannabis for personal use. He soon discovered that the commercially available Thai, Colombian and African strains did not perform well in the Netherlands's northern European climate, nor indoors under artificial lighting. Realizing that the solution to the problem was better genetics, he decided that the best way to obtain good genetics was to start a seed bank, and in 1984 Schoenmakers established "The Seedbank." It was around this time that he met David Paul Watson, a cannabis collector and breeder from California better known as "Sam the Skunkman." Schoenmakers was able to purchase from Watson the premier Californian varieties "Original Haze", "Skunk #1", "Early Girl" and "California Orange."
Now the Reg seeds I will be testing are made up of the following genetics as sent to me straight from the breeder
Outback Haze = Hempys thai/ NH21 x NH36 Reversed
Ive then x it with the NH21 x MML Male , thats the seeds you got.
Outback 1 is wild growing and long flowering but amazing clear strong High and pine citrus taste.
So to start with I attempted to germinate 8 of the 10 seeds , keeping back two incase the worst case scenario
happened (losing the lot ) anyway all 8 managed to open within the paper towel but never managed to sprout once
they went into the root cubes.
So that leaves 5 healthy seedlings plus an extra 2 seeds to play with. 😃
Would you like to be a tester for Connoisseur genetics ?
I know that he is looking for growers with completed diaries who would be willing to test a pack.
I also know that he will expect you to grow multiple plants not just one or two as he needs to see a broad view
of what phenotypes show up.

Welcome back to the Outback haze #1 test grow 😀
Today I filled the 9L fabric pots with soil from a raised garden bed that I grew a great crop of broad beans in
Earlier this year ( harvested about 3 weeks ago )
I then mixed in aprox 20g per pot of the Bio grow powder from Greenhouse feeding and a good scoop
of the Myco gold I am using for my summer grows .
Once that was done , I transplanted the 5 little seedlings into the fabric pots and watered them in with
some stimulizer and Seasol 👊
So now it's just a matter of letting them grow and reveal their gender , then the fun begins 😁
Thanks for stopping by 👍

Okay so I lost another plant to what I suspect was a grasshopper ?
Because only having 4 plants to test didn't seem enough to me I decided to pop the remaining two seeds.
that way it increases the odds of getting a few girls to test for the breeder.
I have been slowly introducing the plants to full sun for longer and longer each day so that they are
well hardened to the often harsh conditions of the Outback region I live in.
Cheers for stopping by 👍

👉 Looking better this week
The 4 original plants are starting to make a move , I gave them some Bio enhancer from greenhouse feeding
So far so good for those 4 😀
As for the two seedlings I sprouted last week , well they are looking fantastic 😄
No feeds given to them just yet but I may repot them shortly with some bio grow mixed into the soil mix 👌
Thank you kindly for stopping by 👍

Finally got a chance to update because of a rainy day
I have been super busy and simply have not had the time to be on here as much as I would like .
Down to 5 plants now as one died from heat stress whilst I was away.
I am still not 100% sure of each plants sex still so they are staying right where they are a little while yet .
See ya next week

Only 1 day late with this weeks update 😂
It is going to hit 40 celcius here today and my Aircon has given up the ghost 😒
Oh well shit happens hey.
Still not 100% certain of each plant's sex but it really looks like the majority will be all Females 😃
I have my favorites amongst the plants and those will be the ones used for any further experimentation
and they will be replanted into a much bigger growing area .
Cheers again for stopping by 👍

Down to three plants now , and one of those is showing signs of heat stress from the very Hot winds that have been blowing .
Despite it's name these genetics do not like the outback heat at all .
I will transplant the best two plants into bigger pots this week .
That is about it for this update , Cheers for stopping by 👍

Week 10
13th December 2021
Hi again fellow growers
This week I got a bit busier in the garden , I cleaned out the tomato bed added fresh compost and transplanted the definite Female
plant into the 2x1m garden bed.
I then topped every single node except for the very tip of the plant and carefully tied her down with a piece of string and a wooden stake .
Plant 2 as pictured above is a definite Male and will be taken a discreet location for flowering .
Plant 3 ( the smallest of the three ) I am still not 100% sure of it's sex so will keep an eye on it .
That is all for this weeks update .
Cheers for stopping by 👍

Week 11 of Veg
21st December 2021
Only the two plants left alive now , but they are the best of all of the plants in general.
They both have the distinct "Sativa" claw like leaves and were the most vigorous of all the plants grown.
This week was especially Hot here and looking at the forecasts there will be no relief for awhile yet. 😐
I had to cover up all of my garden with as much shade cloth as I could get my hands on ,
not so much to block sunlight but to try to keep away the effects of the Hot easterly winds plus low humidity
which is playing havoc by literally burning the foliage on several of my plants and even citrus trees.
The use of Seaweed can help with heat stress too so I have used that in the evenings .
Cheers for stopping by 👍

Both plants are looking better every week 😀
Gave them both some Bio enhancer and mycorrhizae and will feed them again in two weeks 👊

3rd Jan 2022
Both plants are in the ground now and have been tied down for maximum discretion and hopefully yield 👍
Between now and once the stretch begins I plan on just trying to create as much coverage over the entire garden
bed as possible and provide any support the plants may need .
Thankyou for stopping by 👍

The LST has worked well and come flowering time I should get quite a good canopy from the two 👊

BOOM I really believe that these absolutely gorgeous ladies are beginning their stretch 👌
FUCK YEAH!! 😎
I am no expert on sativas but I do believe that I can see some definite Thai coming out in them both
especially those thin razor edged leaves .
the lineage does have "Hempys 78 thia " which is a thai variety
that was crossed with a Nevils haze x Mullumbimby madness so the outcome of this grow could be something
really really special . 💪
As soon as the girls begin to bloom I will start to use the Greenhouse feeding bio bloom .
I like to wait until the stretching has stopped before adding the bloom formula
I also need to get hold of some molasses , I am hundreds of kilometers from a decent store that sells anything like that
so will need to hunt down some online maybe .
I have tried a few of the "sweeteners" that are sold in the grow shops and I am convinced they are simply
made from the same thing ( molasses) with added fish emulsions and maybe other things? but it is just basically molasses based.
Most of them charge like $20+ per bottle of said "sweetener" where as you can get quality unsulfured molasses quite
cheaply compared to the alternative.
Anyway enough waffling along see ya next week
Cheers for stopping by 👍

She stretched a little bit 😆 Check out those thin arse sativa leaves 👌 Absolutely Glorious 👊
I gave them both aprox 6 weeks worth of Bio bloom , then I'll figure out what to add when the time comes .
It will probably be guano and other goodies but this strain could take a fair while to finish so will need to keep
adding to the soil as I go .
Whether outback haze is a heavy feeder or not will need to be seen .
This shit's about to get real 👈
Cheers for stopping by 👍

Well she is finally starting to flower and I couldn't be happier 😄
I have a feeling these two plants will be something really special , and hopefully very potent.
She is drinking lots and lots of water because of the bloody hot daytime temps . 👊
Check out the roots in the pic above , that's what mycorrhizae does 💪

Still bloody expanding 😎 Plant #1 is fucking enormous 💪
The PH has dropped down to 6.3 but because the plants still seem ok I won't muck with it and will just
continue to monitor it as she continues to grow and bloom.
Summer will be officially over at the end of the month and hopefully that will bring an end to the Hot and dry
weather . 😟 It has been a long summer here in Western Australia .

Last night we got a absolute pounding from a thunderstorm.
It dumped heaps of rain and the wind , lightning and thunder were incredible .
Unfortunately several branches got broken on one of my Outback haze ladies. 😞
I taped up the broken branches and I hope that they survive otherwise the loss of potential yield
will be a major piss off for me .
Hope they bounce back ....
Cheers for stopping by 👍

21st Feb 2022
After a relatively cooler week due to the rain , things are heating up again for the final week of Summer.
From tomorrow until next Sunday it is forecast to be around 43 on average during the day.
Applied some Liquid compost which is a new product here in Australia .
I will need to check PH levels of the soil again just in case it made it change .
Check out the picture of a "Bungarra" aka Sand Goanna that came onto my front verandah for the coolness of the shaded concrete .
They are fairly harmless although those claws look pretty nasty so I keep my dog away .
Thanks for checking out this weeks update 👍

This is two days late because Grow diaries has gone weird again and not updating diaries properly .
Both Plants are just on cruise control now and they are both looking healthy and green .
they may end up taking many months to finish because of the pure haze lineage mixed with a Thai from 1978

7th March 2022
Welcome to week 23 😀
Both of these ladies are looking fantastic as they progress into the blooming stage 💪
Absolute monster on the left is my favourite of the two but the other isn't too bad either .
Neither have needed any feeds with the soil providing plenty of nutrition at this stage.
100% sativa's or in this case haze are fairly low maintenence when it comes to feeding .
chuck in some manure or something ( I am using guano ) and they will happily grow along nicely .
Did you know that Connoisseur genetics are looking for new testers for their newest strains??
to be considered you just need to have had a few diaries with harvests
Thanks once again for stopping by 👍
*****Major Update 10th March ***** Plant two developed ball sacks along with her pistils so unfortunately I had to pull her out and destroy the plant.
I know some people might think I could have tried removing the sacs and giving the plant a chance .
But I am trying to make myself some F1 hybrids and do not want any Hermies anywhere near my females .
Now because this strain has Thai genetics there is always that chance they throw "nanners" but usually later in flower
so for this one to show itself right on the start of flowering is enough for me to pull it , burn it with fire . Or in this case I'm gonna let
the sun solarise it and then it'll be mulched with other plant materials from my garden.

Just incase you missed lastweeks update the 2nd plant that was very Thai like in appearance developed some Hermie ball sacs and had to be Ripped up 😒
The Big girl though is still cruising along beautifully thankfully .
She has had a few Grasshoppers attacking her so I have now sprayed Diatomaceous Earth all over her .
This will act as an Abrasive to the Grasshoppers and hopefully keep them away from her for good.
Still no extra feeds needed she is good to go as is . 👌

25th March 2022
This is actually nearly a week late so expect another update in just a cpl of days LOL
Anyway the bloody Grasshoppers are ruining this plant despite my best attempts to deter them 😡
Ive tried Diatomaceous Earth , Garlic and Chilli sprays and they still come back to do their damage.
What they do is strip the stems like ring barking and eventually the entire branch dies and so far Ive lost a fair few branches .
So I'll just have to keep on fighting the little Bastards until the plants ready .
Next summer I plan to have my entire growing area completely covered with insect proof netting .
The only ones allowed will be the native bees and Lady bugs which I'll provide nesting areas for them and plenty of forage 👊
Thanks again for stopping by 👍

Another week done , I have managed to slow down the Grasshopper attack somewhat thru the repeated use of
Garlic as a deterrent.
Two days of rain have rinsed it all off on the soil making the smell even more pronounced ,
once the weather improves I will spray again.
I tell you what , I am glad that this plant is very resilient because it has had a long hard , hot summer.
🌞

She is still cruising along I may give her a little boost soon as she still has some time yet before being ready.
As a Booster I'll add Guano and some half strength Monsta Bud
I also strategically placed a flowering MALE plant called Casava Connection under the lower branches so that I can make some seeds 👊

Another week down and this lady is still cruising along.
The buds closest to the Male I put in there are already showing new seeds forming!! good potent pollen from
the Casava Connection . 👌
So regardless of plant maturity I need to wait until the seeds are mature .
6 weeks roughly .
