Just set up my new room, and have decided to document the first run.
This is my first attempt at a Scrog, first time using an LED light and first time using a tent. My goal is to see where I can make improvements (hopefully minor) for my next run …. With the goal of pulling 2lbs from four plants, and the four plants all need to be separate strains (I like variety).
I’m a little late starting this, and have just completed 3 1/2 weeks of growing and almost 1 week of flower. I’ll do my best to document every week, and include some of my thoughts of where I can improve for next time .
DWC (current culture) using cultured solutions food, silicon, Epsom salts, and most likely something for a late boom boost.
Improvement notes to date:
- maybe should have let the veg cycle go for a few more days .. wait and see.
- use Epsom salts right from the start
- use silicon a week earlier (I started week 3 of veg)
- depending on the stretch I get in the next week or two, maybe run all saliva next time.
Almost two weeks in now …. Not looking like a great stretch from the blue widow, it’s weird because I thought that one would have the most stretch. I was hoping for a little more stretch out of the skunk too. I will pull under the net on these for the next day or two, then let them go straight up.
I removed everything below the net, leaves and bud sites … all gone.
Raised the light to about 24”,and it’s now at 100% strength.
Notes:
- going to be tough to fill the net with four strains
- I’ve started 3 new moms for the next run, all high percentage sativa
- will likely add a second CO2 bag this week, not sure if it will help but thinking it won’t hurt.
Third week in the books and the stretch seems to be pretty much done.
The blue widow really didn’t bust out at all, and the skunk was mediocre. I thought these would be the larger of the four, and gave them the best real estate in the tent. I won’t be pulling through the net anymore (thinking I might have done too much already … wait and see), so let’s hope they get good and fat. The skunk filled about 75% of the area expected and the blue widow only about 55.
Both the chronic and the critical are much better than anticipated (free seeds … shout out to attitude seed bank). If anything I had to hold them back to suit the other two . They have filled about 90% or more of the space allotted for them.
Still haven’t added the second co2 bag, that will go in this week.
Some notes for next time:
- filling back of tent will be tough without crowding middle … have some good ideas for this.
- if indica, run the grow a few more days ( so net is over 60% full) … salivas likely less.
- after next run (sativas), if I don’t fill net … consider more light at back of tent.
Week 4 in the books.
The blue widow stretched out half decent so far, but the skunk didn’t pop much this week. The critical and chronic are coming nicely … all things considered I’ll take it for the first run.
Notes to date:
- definitely should have run the grow cycle a few more days … fill the scrog net at least 75% with indicas before 12/12. I’m not looking for a lot of height, but was hoping I would have at least a 9-12” of flower above the net by now
- I also pulled through the net for to long I think … A combination of not growing long enough and pulling through the net for too long. Learned my lesson ( Although my next crop will be sativa, so make sure to consider that).
- I will probably start the two plants that are in the back of the tent, which has more space than the front, one or two days before I put the other two plants at the front of the tent next run. Should help fill the back of the tent better.
Still a couple more weeks to gain some height, but there is room for improvement next time for sure.
Week 5 done and buds are starting to fill out.
Did get a little more height on all of them, but they won’t get as tall as I was going for. Have to add a few days to the grow cycle next run of indica.
I’ll drop the water temperature a degree this week, and then a degree each week until harvest.
Six weeks in and all four girls are starting to fill out. I’d say the critical is furthest along, but they’ll all stay in for another three weeks I’d guess.
Been running fairly high nutrients the last two weeks, and will start to taper this week. I did a full flush today, then drained again and filled with the new nutrient blend for this week. If anyone is wondering when I say “fairly high”, I just mean I am running close to label directions for my products … I’m typically only 80% of label at most, except the 2 or 3 middle weeks (weeks 5,6, and sometimes 7), where I’ll run label or higher. I do test ppm and tds, but I don’t chase it. I just do a reservoir change every week for the most part.
For nutrients , I have tried current culture line my last two grows … plus added silicone, Epsom salts, and a PK booster for a week or two (only week 7 for this grow I anticipate). I’ve cut the silicone in half this week, and this will be the last week I use it (I generally stop use a week after vertical growth has stopped).
Plants are still looking healthy, and similar to my comments the last couple of weeks, I just did not grow them long enough before the flip … amazing what 2-3 days woulda likely done. Live and learn though … first Scrog was intended as a learning experience.
7 weeks down, likely two more to go.
All plants filling out nicely, but the blue widow seems a little behind …. It’s foxtailing a little as well but not enough to be concerned.
Setting up the clone room for the next crop. I’ve got three sativa moms, and trying to decide which one will get two spots in the tent. Leaning towards green house seeds super lemon haze … but also have green house seeds Franco lemon cheese and garden of green amnesia lemon kush …. Any recommendations?
Week 8 almost done. Trichomes just starting to go amber on all four girls, so looks like I’m on the last week.
All four plants claim to be anywhere from 49-57 days, but they’ll all need to go a little over 60 days. I find pretty much everything I’ve ever grown takes approximately 7-10 days longer than what the label claims. This includes a 3 or 4 day flush.
I’m draining and filling with a low nutrient solution today, and will run for 3 or 4 days depending on trichome (going for 50% amber at least), then will drain and flush for about three days.
Dropping solution temperature another degree today and the another degree on the flush. Room temp is also down to 20 C.
Looks like it’s almost time to cut some clones for the next run
Just finished week 9, which included a 3 day flush.
All four plants having about 15-25% amber trichomes and ready for harvest and will cut down tonight. I’ll hang for 5-10 days likely and then cure for a few weeks before I smoke.
The critical and chronic are absolute beauties, and the skunk turned out nice as well. I’m expecting good smoke from the blue widow to, but doubt it will have much quantity.
All in all, not a terrible first experience with a scrog. While I definitely should have grown for a couple/few more days, I am still pleasantly surprised on the quantity. And no small nugs really … also much easier to clean than the way I used to grow (big trees).
While I was hoping for 2 lbs, I don’t think I’ll be there with this run. I’ll know for sure once dried and cured, but I don’t think I’ll be as far off as I initially expected … I’ll make adjustments for my next run, and am confident I’ll pass the 2 lb mark.
Just finished first two weeks of cure, and will let it go for a couple more before I smoke. Smells great, and looks wonderful… should be great smoke. I’ll edit post in a couple weeks.
This plant is an absolute beauty, dense and covered with crystals … its only been curing for two weeks and the smell is out of this world. This was a free seed (thank s attitude seed bank), and I am so happy I randomly choose it … THIS IS A MUST GROW !!!
@Mr_Cannuccia19, jungleroom 1mx1mx2m. Not the best quality in the stiching though. I love it, but I'd tweek it a little if i could. It's very oriented to one side for power supplies, 1 side for ventilation. You couldn't shove my tent into the right hand corner of a room as you'd block the vents.
What a wonderful garden friend! It is litteraly amazing. Wish you all the best ❤️

Very nice setup and put together, will be keeping an eye on your dairy and happy 420 bro. From my experience, I've struggled to scrog more than 2 strains in my tent at a time, just because each one shoots out differently which makes maintaining canopy height a bit tricky, but you've got more than enough space so good luck and happy growing 🤞🏻🍀
Nicely done! That is how a room should be set up! Perfected grow space, looks like you have some good ideas about how to grow bud. Will be following this grow! Enjoy! 😎
