Got these two clones home. Theyre at week three and really needing a bigger pot so transplanted them into 3 gallons. My new light still hasnt come so theyre sitting in a huge tray in my wardrobe close to the normal light bulb. Light wont be coming for a week, but better to keep in on its 18/6 light schedule than expose it to sunlight and change up what light form it's expecting it goes into the tent.
The light came and the girls are in the tent, they've been struggling cause of the shitty light so will be nice to see them pump in the tent. One of the plants had some overwatering issues and was drooping and yellow, it looked like it was rootlocked and had root issues. It was also growing slower and had short deformed nodes and I couldnt see any new roots forming (the coco wasnt firming up as it does with root gorwth) so decided to dig it up. Found the tap root pretty deformed from the rock wool. I cut away the rock wool and replanted it.
I also set up the stand for them with a coated wire shelf and some containers for drip trays that I'll manually empty.
See how it goes this week.
The girls bounced back from last week and so decided to send them into flower. Jack herer is a slow flower so wanted to start early in veg. The one plant has thickend up but the other is still struggling, still can't feel much root growth.
Decided on the smaller scrog screen as I want the best chance to have a perfectly aligned canopy and I feel the smaller mesh will be easier for tucking and training.
This week went off! started the week with a defoliation, this strain is super leafy. then it came back within 7 days and is not finally starting to show flower sites and pistils.
Buds are starting to come in now. Stems are still stretching a ton and I'm still training but wiring nodes to mesh screen and moving nodes into the liight. I did another defoliate and removed most of the leaves as outlined In the schwazz method. Cut more noeds away that were cramped in and growing at the scgro line; realizing theres less and less room in the tent than I'd expected; more nodes than I'd expected.
Lots of ripening this week. Increased nutes day over day, ending the week at 2.2 EC. Much more trichomes coming in and growing on the fan leaves. The musty green mango smell has started to come in pretty quickly, love that smell. Had some EC issues this week with EC rising even with 2 feeds a day; need to try and figure out if I need to increase fertigation frequency, or experiment with PH levels- PH could be the reason they're not uptaking the nutrients.
Had a land lord scare this week also haha. Owner gave 30 mins notice and I had to pull all my shit down and cover up the tent with bags and shit, wasn't fun.
Buds have filled out a little, but they're staying true to this pheno, smaller dense buds. I thinks having this many top sites in direct light will increase density and quality, but I don't think it's going to increase yield, but we'll see. Hoping for 300g but it might be closer to 200.
I'm getting a little worried about spacing between buds, I did cut away some of the smaller nodes that were touching other bud sites earlier in the week and it opened it up, then cut away some fan leaves that were also obtrusive to a buds surrounding air flow. Didn't chop a lot of so don't think ti would have stressed them out too much. See how it goes, but it's definitely going to be a tight fit!
- The buds are still looking smaller than I expected for this week, but I am being hard on them. (Sending positive vibes)
They did get frostier
- I was thinking I defoliated too much and too late, or not enough larger fan leaves. Not sure but could have shocked her.
Or, could be just a really long flower period.
- Had some EC issues this week again, this time I started to see signs of nute burn on the very tips of the leaves. I flushed the medium have started to drop EC back to 2 by next week.
Not much else to report, just letting them do their thing. ✌️🏼
- The ladies got a little hot this week when I had to keep them in a box during a house inspection. Next day a lot of pistils had turned brown and now end of week, there’s not very many swollen calyx and new pistol growth.
- I raised the light in order to lower the heat a little (it’s also been a hotter week this week in general), I think it was a little too close at 14”. Raised it to 16.
- I spoke with someone on Reddit who told me about “shooting powder”, a sparkling PK booster that reverts the plant back earlier in flower. Fucking magic. Going to try that for the next three weeks to see if I can get the ladies to bounce back and produce more girthy bud.
They sure did frost up more though! ❄️
- leaf tips stopped burning finally after last weeks sporadic EC spikes. EC back down between 2 inflow with 2.2-2.3 outflow. So, I’m happy with that.
- added another fan. Found a cheap $15 fan that has a low profile back and can sit in the corner without blocking the light. Doesn’t rotate but makes the ladies dance a littler more which is nice 💃🏻
