pH'd RO water to 5.5 and soaked rockwool cube (for almost 48 hours, meant to start earlier but, life happens). Starting the seed on my microgreens grow rack, I'm using a germination heating pad as well. Started the seed on October 8th. Popped on October 12th. Watered cube once, occasionally spraying for humidity. Gotta finish my outdoor crop trim and dry so I can get this in the tent in a few days!

Transplanted the seedling & rockwool cube into hydroton and into the hydro setup on Oct 18th. GH Trio week 1 formula (no armor si or calmag), at 300ppm. pH'd to 5.8 and it's sitting at 6.0 as I write. Now... we wait for roots to drop! Stayed outside the tent for longer than I wanted, but mostly because I was using the tent to dry an outdoor crop. LED light at 24" and 75% power. Update 10/22: Roots visible!

Roots are growing nice and quick after having hit the water! Have only had to adjust pH once, fallen to 5.6 and I bumped it back to 5.9 and it's been hovering around there. I mean, kinda makes sense given the early stages, but also with the ph adjuster, maybe helping, the directions also state that it is known to drop pH when first used as well. No res change yet as of 10/26. I'm planning on waiting another couple days, ppm sitting pretty around 300. I might only do a half change (3 gallons out of 6) when I do change it. I'm kinda unsure if I need to do a full res change. I'm thinking through it. Update Friday 10/29: Full res change. Used GH Trio week 2 forumula, filled 3 gallons with 3 gallons of formula, and then divided by little more than half of plain pH'd RO. Before dilution, 900ish PPM, after dilution 579 PPM in tank. pH'ed to 5.8, and let 'er rip. Set lamp at 20" above canopy. Temp at 72f.

Rapidly growing! Currently at 4 nodes, 5 node coming in. Planning on topping the 6th node, so, might happen later this week, even. Stats from res change on Friday. Mostly everything going OK. Not super fond of the brown-ish spots on my roots. But, for the most part things seem to be going OK, and my parameters seem to be OK, so... I'm going to try to not freak out about it just yet. Growth is good, she looks healthy overall. Also decided to name her Laka, going with the Hawaiian theme: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lono Nov 5th: Topped down to 5 nodes! Added some before/after photos of the top.

Pretty happy with how she's been looking after the top! Getting close to where I'll start to LST, likely later in the week. No major stats changes in the last week. TDS is from previous res change. I have had to adjust pH up only once in the last week. I plan on doing a res change at some point this week. Roots also seeming pretty healthy, after having questioned it for a minute. Phew. Nov 9: started LST in modest. Nov 10: res change! GH trio week 3: 100% cal mag and armor si. 60% grow/bloom/micro. Premix ppm'd to 1500 in 3 gallons. Final mixture at 706ppm in the res. Also, I love the control tank, it's so much easier to nail the numbers you want. pH'd to 5.8.

Been increasingly adding garden ties for LST, she's been reacting really well. Tank sitting pretty at 750ppm, had left over nutes and slowly adding them in. Have bumped up the pH to 6.1 a couple times since Friday because I've been afraid the pH doohickey is too good and keeping it too stable on the low end, and some of the leaf mottling made me wonder if it needs higher pH to get more calmag. Finally trimmed off a few big fan leaves, they're kinda painful to take off because they're so chonkin. So, I put some on display.

Really happy with her at the moment! Responding really well to LST, got a lot of branching, secondary growth looks good. Still on the same res. Planning on a res change today. Basically been slowly dropping in PPM, and I'm feeding approx 1 liter of plain RO water daily, and pH keeps dropping to like 5.7 in 24 hours, and I pH it back up to like 6.1. Res change on 11/23 (journal day): same as last week, -10% grow/bloom/micro, then final mix at 750ppm. Noticed my pH meter was gunked with hydroguard gunk, had to scrub it down, wonder if I've been getting funky readings.

Yet another week where I'm really happy with her. I might need to scrog sort of soon. She's tight towards the bottom, but! ...The leaves are starting to look more sativa-ish, you can see the newer growth are looking thinner. Drinking almost 1.5 liters a day. pH keeps dropping to about 5.7 daily, and I've been adding 4ml of pH up daily, bringing it back to approximately 6.1. Not a great advertisement for Torus Hydro, maybe that thing is a little medium. But, maybe it'd be worse? I don't know. I keep meaning to hit up the hydro shop to pick up a bucket and a couple tops in order to make a top-off reservoir so that I can refill while I'm away. Slowly trimming fan leaves from the bottom / inside as I can. I'm thinking of doing a Lost Coast foliar spray as a preventative.

Late diary this week! Writing on 12/9, photos from 12/7. Res change on 12/7, GH trio week 3 -- same as last week, full calmag/armor si, but 10% lower on my chart with grow/bloom/micro. Final ppm at 725. Had a boo boo with LST and broke one of the top most shoots, damn. Oh well, have it taped up. If it goes, it's fine, she's full of tops. Thinking about when to flower, maybe next week? I'll likely also scrog next week too. Got a challenge this week, will be away from home, have a house sitter, but not a plant sitter. So I have home automation setup. Have a top off tank with a pump on a smart switch, and have a camera in the tent so I can see the water level read out. Should be fun. The pH was rising last week, but after the change, seems to be dropping again. So I filled the top off res with RO water that I pH'ed to 9.8, test this a.m. before leaving, got me to 5.9 in the tank -- close enough. Let's see how it does after 4 days.

Big week! Things I've done * Res change 12/15 * Flip to flower 12/15 * Added scrog on 12/15 * Turned on second light, set lights to approx 85-90% dimmer. * Light lollipop on 12/13 Res change GH trio formula week 4 (transition), 60% grow/bloom/micro, 100% armor si/calmag. PPM'ed out to 793, pH to 5.8 as per usual. Lollipopped the other day to get some space underneath. I can probably do more. I'll give her a few more days and see what she looks like. Curious to explore what my last plant looked like when I flipped to see what the difference is. Time away from home seemed OK, automation setup worked perfectly outside of having a power outage for a few hours, which was kind of... I guess low impact. The pH was OK when I came home, wound up being at 6.1. Update on 12/20: She's showing sex, it's a girl!

Res change on 12/21, GH trio week 5 formula (early bloom), 60% grow/micro/bloom + 5ml micro, 100% calmag/si. Wound up coming out to about 790ppm, was aiming for 850, I'll up my percentage of the formula next change. Had some roots growing through the re-circulation tubing. I gotta check this every res change or more now. I had to kinda poke the roots through and then reverse the pump to get it flowing again. Then put the pump back on the original tube. Let's see how it goes, harder to open up the main tank now that it's in a scrog. Saw pistils last week! So, that's good. No other major news at the moment.

Really filling out the scrog here on day 14 of flower. Should be ready for a lollipop on day 21. She's way ready for a res change. I'm about to upgrade the holding tank for my RO water system, which should make res changes way way easier. Holding out for that tomorrow, since I'll have to drain the system anyway. Res change 12/31: 72.5% week 6 flower GH trio (calmag/si at 100%). Came out to 813 ppm, little lower than I wanted, but not bad. Also changed out small fan for a larger floor style circulation fan. 1/2: hadn't really drank any water for a good 24ish hours after res change, or very little. This morning it drank 2 liters. pH dropped pretty well too. Decided to turn the aquarium pump down by 1/4 turn, in case it's "acid rain effect" from CO2, I'm unsure but it's a worthy experiment for a day or two. ppm at 590ish.

Flower day 21 here we are already! It's time to do the day 21 lollipop, and I just have to figure out when I can have the tent open long enough to stink up the house -- it's not my wife's favorite activity this far into flower :D ppm at about 510ish as of today. My dropping pH appears to be reacting well to my experiment with turning down the aquarium pump, had to even use pH down today. I should probably mark up my aquarium pump so I know what the level I'm using. Still haven't done my RO water tank upgrade, I was missing the proper ball valve for it, so... Decided to order that instead of cobbling it together from parts from the local hardware store. Should come in later this week. I feel like I'm seeing the SLIIIIGHTEST bit of nute burn. Maybe it's just the coloration this time in flower? I'll keep my eye on it, but probably not going to bump up ppm a whole lot next res change. Res change 1/7: 80% GH trio week 7, full armor si and calmag. 798 ppm @ 5.8 pH. Feeling good about turning down the air pump. pH hasn't needed up until this morning 1/7. Did a lollipop on 1/5, could probably use a bit more.

Welp, she's a sativa alright -- stretching like crazy now. Definitely have some sliiiiight nute burn. What's weird is that I'm way lower than my last hydro grow (which I also nute burnt a bit), I guess it's probably partially plant-to-plant or varietal-to-varietal. It's not terrible. But, I'd like to understand what I can improve in the future. I keep picking at her here and there for reducing the amount of plant material in the tent. There's a LOT of it, too. I probably need to get more aggressive. I wanna keep up with it now and then give her time before the day 42 lollipop, too. pH has been dropping again until today, when I had to use pH down. ppm somewhere at like 600. ppm from last res change. Installed new RO tank! Should now have 10 gallons on demand, only had 1.5 before, and I need 6 every res change. Should be awesome. 1/12

Res change on Monday the 17th, same as last week, but it mixed low so I added nutes (bloom/micro) and then came out a little high. I also noticed I've been overfilling the res because of the way the pumps sucks water out of the control tank, now filling with out the circulation pump running. Short update and late this week. Have had company and it's made gardening less convenient! Happy with er though.

Looks like I hit day 42 of flower! ...time to lollipop again. Overall looking good, some of the lankiest stalks buds aren't quite looking really compact which annoys me. Overall production is great though. Res change 1/26, GH trio week 8 formula, originally at 85% formula, but added bloom and micro, wound up at 900ppm in the tank. My TDS meter is on the fritz, ordered a new one. Update 1/31: fuck. Just measured ppm with the new meter and it's at 1350. That's... Way too high. Wonder if I've been fucking it up for a while haha. Explains some of the nute burn. Going to res change asap.

Res change on 2/1 (journal day) because of the high ppm due to my tds meter being on the fritz. GH trio wk9 at 80% (100% calmag/si). New tank at ~850ppm. This is the week that the formula cuts gro. I think in the future if I were to change this, I'd cut gro after... day 21 or something? Feels like a major thing I'd change in the future. Feel like I still need to pick at some of the lower canopy, got some popcorn-y looking buds and whatnot, and it's really dense. It's not terrible. Plant still seems very healthy, very sticky. Plant smells great. It's got this like... kinda warm fruity smell to it. I almost want to say papaya-ish? It's good. Was very very gassy/diesely earlier in flower. Still spicy kind of like warm baking spicy smell (cardamom?) when I rub it on my fingers. Curious how it starts to shape up.

On day 57 of flower, that's 8 weeks. No signs of slowing down right now. Pistils are still wicked white and nary one has curled back. I should probably grab the microscope and take a look soon, but... If I had to guess I'm 3-4 weeks out at a minimum. 12 weeks seems like its possible given that it's showing sativa-ish traits. Still on last week's res change. pH started dropping early in the tank change, seems fairly steady now, ppm is only slooooowly dropping. Feb 10th: Added photo of trichomes under the scope. Still primarily clear, maybe a couple trichs that have some cloudiness.

They're sticky, big, bit stretchy and fox taily especially near the tops. I kinda knew going into it that a sativa was going to be difficult. It is. Happy overall. No scope photo yet. Res change 2/15: GH trio week 10, 75% strength. 810ppm in the tank.

Beginning of week 10, and doesn't seem to be slowing down. I wonder how long she'll go? I need to scope the trichomes, but the pistils are still white, so few curling back. No major updates otherwise. Just sitting tight. I'm going to be away for a week in a couple weeks, so, I have to hope the timing works out for harvest, or if she has to go long or something. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 13-14 week flower anyway.

Res change today 3/1. GH Trio week 11 "ripen" formula @ 80%. I cut out armor si this week but kept calmag at half of what it's previously been. EC came out to 670ppm in the tank all told. Scoped the trichomes today. Looks like they're basically all clear. Maybe get a partially cloud 1/50+ or something. So! ...At least 2 weeks to go. Just checked my last plant went 22 weeks all said and done. I'm guessing this has at least another two weeks.

Late entry this week! Was away, for posterity -- got to go backcountry skiing at Vail Pass in Colorado. Had the setup set for attended automatic watering, with a pump on a smart outlet and an Arlo camera. Worked well, fed her about 5 gallons of water over 6 days. pH was low when I got back. Also interestingly, my wife put the room thermostat on hold, which I didn't really want, but I didn't communicate it. It's a "cool" experiment, the room temp has been 60 all week, kind of simulated late season weather I guess. Getting fall colors, too. Thinking about starting the flush, which I have never done really. At a glance still seems a couple weeks away. Keeping on keeping on. ppm 390 when I came home, pH around 5.6. 3/12: res change, same as last week ppm at about 710. Scoped the trichomes, still not as cloudy as I want. We'll keep watching this week. Read up on the flush and it apparently only needs to be a couple days with DWC, so I'll try at the end.

No big updates, feel like I just updated last week's because I was late anyways. I'm due to scope the trichomes again (hopefully today). I'm hopeful to harvest the plant next weekend. Let's see how it goes! If I can harvest next weekend, it's realistic that I might be having enough of a cure to be blazing down on 4/20 😎 ...I might have live rosin before then though (fuck yeah!) Scoped 'em now! ...Damn, still very clear. So, week minimum it seems. I can't harvest this weekend anyway, let it ride.

Flower Day 100!!! 14 weeks of flower and counting. ...She's a sativa alright, and looks like we're going another week. I haven't scoped the trichomes yet this week, though. So we'll see (hopefully today, again!) Fall colors really looking great. She's quite skunky. Sometimes can smell it outside if I'm near enough the vent at the right timing. A couple buds are kinda starting to lean from being heavy haha, awesome. Tip tops of the biggest colas are still totally white pistils. Scoped the trichs on 3/24: Finally some cloudiness, however mild. I'm just going to take a deep breath, and go week to week. I don't particularly have a reason to rush it along, and my last indoor run I cut early because she started to herm (was still a great harvest and great bud, too). So, I'm gonna keep it rolling. Next weekend would probably be good timing for a harvest, so... Holding hope. Posted on Reddit 3/24 and got a lot of "whoa you over flowered it and stressed it and it's foxtailing like crazy, chop it now!" Has got me... Kind of stressed about my grow. Also has me doing a lot of reading. I'm starting to wonder if it's genetic with this sativa. Kind of uniform foxtailing on the whole thing. Added a few photos. I'm not saying I didn't make mistakes, and having grow nutes for too long, and having my EC meter totally flake on me didn't help. But it's interesting. Great help on the grow question I posted, making me feel better about keeping it rolling for a week and see what's up. I'll pick am answer once I see more of what happens. I changed the light schedule to 10 on 14 off on 3/25. First day will be 11 hours and then 10 hours tomorrow. I'm going to bump down the faders on the lights too. Thinking of doing a res change tonight too. Breathe deep. It's gonna be dank. https://growdiaries.com/diaries/110036-grow-journal-by-killab1405/week/586573 Noticed this diary has the same seed source and strain that's showing a similar structure too, interesting. Res change 2/25: just backed off same formula as last week a little, 550ppm in the tank, 5.9pH. Also note: the trichomes that I scoped are from bracts that had pistils that were curled back and are from mid-low on the colas. 3/28: added photos of trichs from yesterday. Some more cloudiness coming in. Slowly, but it is progressing.

Is it time to chop? I posted her on Reddit and people are like "you're way over, it's foxtailing and you need to chop ASAP!" As you can see there's still white pistils on the top most of the biggest colas. I also have scope photos of the trichomes in the diary.

Fox tailing can be a genetic thing. In some strains no matter what you do, thats how they look. its not always quite that bad though, But its not caused by leaving a bud too late for harvest. Thats bullshit. Tell those nobs on reddit who said its foxtailing cause its over to piss off. And some sativas even from same pack of seeds can take longer than others to finish up by up to a week.. Basically expect up yo 14 weeks in flower for a real sativa heavy lady. Anything under is a bonus, most newer strains these days can be done in 12 weeks or even a week less, no probs. But the older school ones like your strain....yeah your gonna be waiting a while longer my friend. it will be worth it thou, promise. Just be patient and dont rush her now. She needs time as much as water and nutes. unless u have found a nute brand that has bottled time and is selling it, u cant rush a sativa. I swear even when they look ready they usually aint ready!! your looking min 12 weeks for her ok. MIN. now I looked at your grow, and your first 2 weeks of flower, were not flower. u may have changed the lights, but she wasnt in flower yet. week 2 of flower she was still in pre flower. so ur week count is off by at least two weeks. Taking that into account your right on track alrite? She has about ten days left give or take a few days. 14 weeks for maui waui isnt uncommon at all. So if you knock off those first two weeks of flower, shes only going to be a few days over the 14 week timeline- not a bad job at all.

The tale of the wily sativa! ...Thinking this is the last week. I'm planning on a chop this weekend. I'm happy I kept it going this week. Plan is to flush on Thursday night and chop on Saturday morning, and get trimming! It's possible I could let it go longer actually, but the fall leaves have come rather far, and I'm not sure it would go like... another 3 weeks. And CLEARLY (pun intended) this plant likes to go really slow with cloudy trichomes. Trichs are finally clouding up a bit, it's been a while. I don't think the tops are going to necessarily totally have the pistils curl back. Even with the 10/14 schedule that I changed to this past weekend. Likely some more trich pics coming as the week progresses. Ordered some extra trim scissors and a drying rack (for some loose buds). Hoping to convince some friends to come help me out :D Harvested on 4/2! I'll make a harvest entry when I can weigh the goods. Had a buddy help (woot). Added a photo of the goods. Already did a bubble hash run of the larf and trim. Dry is going real slow, I think it's a good thing, been really digital about keeping the humidity at 50-60, have a humidifier running and tuning the exhaust fan.

Happy Harvest Day!

The taste and high is AMAZING. Really like... psychedelic properties to the high, really visual, can get super laughy! It's daytime-ish for certain. The taste, it's going to sound cliche, but for real it's really like papaya-ish flavor, hint of pineapple maybe -- also really floral. And I haven't even finished the cure (still weeks to go), but even the dry trim tastes great already, tried the bubble hash too.

I got 445 grams on the scale for dried and trimmed bud. The larf and trim I bubble hashed and got 45 grams of hash, at a 4 or 5:1 dry bud:hash ratio that's equivalent to 180 grams at 4:1, so I'm putting 625 grams total. Kind of a rollercoaster! Was unsure about waiting out the chop, but, happy with how long she went in the end. Trim sesh was GREAT because I had my good buddy who knows his shit, fun to chat with, and we jammed it out and ate a shitty convenience store sandwich and got high, amazing. Dry was nice and slow, tried to keep 50% humidity in the tent and it dried for 6 days, no circulating fan, just exhaust fan. Maybe sliiiightly too long, but seems OK in the jars during the cure. Tried a drying rack for the first time -- it's certainly convenient compared to hanging. Stoked on the grow! Thanks for all the support!!! (edit: I didn't do a wet weigh, just dry weight)

I currently have 2 plants in tent & It's the lankiness that bothers me as well - One plant was stretching so fast & came in so thin & fragile, I thought it was a male for fuck sakes - I kept a close eye on it & so far looks fine - it should fill in the other plant I have is fine -- and its going to be fucking great! thanks for the great pics & solid grow! Cheers

@Valmont505, thanks for sure! Well, glad it's the genetics, been kinda beating myself up, but ... I have a feeling it'll have my laughing and partying in the end.

What a Great grow!! I do suggest cleaning some leaves, so bigger flowers may appear on the middle.

@Psilocubensis, awesome! Appreciate having the eye. I sometimes feel tentative about cleaning 'er up. I can use the encouragement, thanks!!

Looking excellent. For a sativa I’m surprised the internode spacing is so tight but it’s a great thing for indoor growing that’s for sure. I’m interested to see how she does in flower. Looks like your setup is dialed in nicely.

@Captain_7, thanks man! I'm guessing Nirvana crossed it with something else? I'm not sure, but I'd wager it's a hybrid in the end. Later growth is looking sativa-ish. I hope I'm flipping it early and it doesn't do some craziness during the stretch, should be maintainable at this height though -- hopefully! Appreciate the compliments, for sure!!

Beautiful stacking on those buds!

@2highforu, thanks for the compliment!!! Appreciate it. The sativa-ish plant is stretchier than I'm used to, so I'm sometimes worried it's not as compact as I want. There's still a ways for her to go anyway.

Not all plants amber my friend. I would do a little research. I have grown a number of strains that would not amber up. I just take them when most trichs have turned milky...Good grow my friend...

@GMSgrows, kick ass, thanks. I'm currently thinking of waiting a week and see where it's at, if I get some more cloudiness. I'm a bit torn, to be honest.
the end.
