MY FIRST DIARY! Unfortunately I only had pics starting at wee 3 of Veg, but I very pleased with the progress so far. The Anubis is the only seed that survived a germination run I did. Left the seedlings with a friend, came back and all were dead except for this plant which was only an inch tall. Was going to scrap it, took it out to throw it away and say HUGE roots. Decided to run it and glad I did. The others are clones from Dark Heart Nursery and I am extremely impressed. Hopefully it all goes well!

First photo is just after defoliation and next two are 5 days later. They are really on the run now. Going to flip them next week.

First week of Flower! I really want the roots to stretch for water so I am letting them dry out completely after transplant except for spraying the outside of the smart pot. I have never tried this and they don't seem to pleased but I need to control the stretch and promote root growth so it is what it is right now. Hoping them perk back up next week when they get back to a more regular feeding schedule.

Just after a first light defoliation and them 3 days later. They are looking much better now that they are on a more regular watering schedule and they are starting to clear their pots in about 2 days. Very excited. The Venom OG and Anubis are really bulking up their stems. Greenleaf Nutrients are at recommended doses so at this point 2.5 9/gal for the veg nutrient and and 2.5 g/gal for flower. I will start Bud Explosion next week.

Bud sites are really beginning to show. VERY EXCITING! The nutrient levels here are not correct because the Mega Crop is measured in grams per gallon and the Cal-Mag is tablespoons per gallon. The correct measurements are 2.5 g/gal megacrop (both parts) 1 g/gal Bud Explosion and 1 tbsp/gal.

Ran into a bit of an issue. I flowered these plants at 10 and 12 inches tall thinking they would stretch to about double their size. Unfortunately the SCROG net did its job a little better than I anticipated. They are very wide, about 2x2 each but I should have allowed for more horizontal growth before I started. They have not stretched very much at all in height. Oh well, live and learn. They received their final defoliation this past week. Worried about air flow with such small plants but nothing can be done at this point. Just have to ride it out.

Week 5 and the buds are really stacking now! This Venom OG is a beast even at only 18 inches tall! It has about 13 tops right now, the most in the tent. The Anubis has about 9 tops and they are FAT! The two Grand Daddy Purps are lagging a little behind. They were smaller plants to start at about 15 and 16 inches but they hit a Cal Mag deficiency last week and so the buds are not as large as the other two. Also, I propped them up about 3 inches so they could hit the net more and I could spread them out to get light to the lower buds, BIG help. Despite that the amount of tops is still 10+ for each. I love Greenleaf Nutrients! This is my third run with them and I wont be using anything else. I also started adding Overdrive by advanced nutrients at half strength about mid way through this week and will continue at full strength for the remainder of the grow. First time using it, really excited about it.

Week 6 and things are really taking off. They are beginning to fatten up. Been using Overdrive for about 10 days now and buds are ROCK hard. Very impressed with this combo I have going right now. The Venom OG just continues to blow me away. The buds are really begging to fill out now and the leaves are just started to turn a dark color. Grand Daddy Purps have recovered nicely and are showing some incredible colors. Buds may be a little smaller in size than the other two but with at least 12 tops each and rock solid buds, I am not sweating it. Can't say how impressed I am with Dark Heart Nursery. These are really quality plants! At this point I am watering every day until the end.

Start of week 8. The chunk is ON!!!! The calyx are really starting to burst out now. I am really hoping the Anubis fills in more. She has huge nugs now but if they fill in these will be the biggest nugs I have ever grown. The venom OG just continues to impress. Every single top is just bursting. The two GPDs despite their small stature are extremely dense and each top is hard as a rock. Will start the flush this coming Sunday. I have been moving the light down every other night every so slightly to try to get some better penetration. Its at about 15 inches away now and still no signs of light burn, going to have to make a note of that. Also stopped all nitrogen about mid way through week 7. All flowering nutes for the home stretch until flush, then just overdrive.

Welp, it's almost over now, today marks the end of week 8. What a great run this has been. Despite their small stature these plants have really chunked up. The Venom OG by Dark Heart Nursery continues to blow me away. The amount of weight its packed on in the last week is not even believable at times. Even in these final days here in continues to swell. the Anubis by Pyramid Seeds has been one hell of a comeback story. Wanted to throw it away as a seedling until I saw its roots and decided to give it a shot. I am SO fucking glad that I did. She may be the heaviest girl of the bunch. The two Grand Daddy Purps are on the smaller side but are still swelling more by the day. GPD was unfortunately hit by an aphid attack this week and it really didn't do it any favors. They seem to have concentrated solely on her so that is good for the rest of the tent. Even despite that the top colas of this plant keep on swelling. I am so impressed with all three of these plants! Trichomes are about 75% milky, and 5% amber at this point. I'm going to give them until Saturday. I started my flush with half Nutrients this past Saturday and Sunday, 1/8 strength today and Wednesday & Thursday its just plain old water for the gals. Friday I will let them dry out and Saturday afternoon whenI get home they will get the chop. Will update with harvest pics this weekend!

My flush is going a slower than anticipated and I still have some green with only two days left. I am wondering, does anyone not give water for about 24 hrs before harvest? I am planning on letting them dry out a little but I may need that extra day thoughts?

minerals aren't stored in buds (proven by research that a flush does nothing relative to mineral content of buds), so don't worry if you don't get a full fade. If it's sucking from leaves, it's not "overfed" which is the primary concern, if any. an extra day isn't going to make much of a difference. So, have fun if you want to. Plants generally maintain the same water content -- rate of transpiration is cuase of drinking more or less (ignoring growth, but proportional to that too). if it wilts, no matter if you apply "good" stress it's not going to going to be generating much cellular growth with a lack of water, ignoring nutes for a bit due to timeframe and leaves having enough to provide for short term. Even less with non-green leaves unable to produce enough ATP. (krebb's cycle) if the plant is about to wilt or wilting, it may speed up drying time but otherwise, the plant will still be ~80% water. If a faster dry is needed due to extremely high humidty environment or similar context, then sure... might be a good idea. i'd sugges the KISS principle.. "Keep It Simple, Stupid." Not much growth can occur in 24 hours anyway... 24-36 hours of darkness before chop can increase trichomes on outside of plant -- essentially you keep what would normally evaporate from heat/light. there is research that backs that up. still what can happenin 24 hours is a very small piece of the total pie for a plant that took ~8-9 weeks to form the buds. about the 24-36 hours -- incomplete research.. for example.. what is lost in that darkness? each day a pot plant doesn't get the minimum DLI to maintain mass, it shrinks... it loses mass. Just as we lose mass if we stop eating for a day. the existing research made no attempt to quantify cost of the extended darkness. the increase of THC% could be augmented artificially by the denominator (total mass) is also shrinking over that time. so, it's kinda double dipping on the percentage calculation without accounting for the loss. There's so much trash out there... if there's no comparison to a control group, it's hard to have confidence. ppl often think what they do has a positive effect regardless of any reason to come to that conclusion.

Looking at the trichomes on my Anubis plant, they are at least 80-90% milky and 10% Amber which is where I would normally like them to be. However, there are so many whit hairs still I don't know what to do. Looking at the pics can anyone give a word of advice?

just a matter of how you weight the benefit of slightly more mass -- those white pistils are probably newer growth -- a last ditch effort to get knocked up, biologically speaking. i figure if it's a few percent more mass, i'd rather harvest when i prefer than wait... but, your mileage may vary.. each to their own on this. A large operation may look at it differetly but if yield is a couple pounds, it only adds up to a few grams more, but a week or two of time... not worth it, imo. looks like a bit of spiraling in the one photo... could just be a little intense light on tip of colas causing some pistils to shoot out. i definitely don't wait for spirals/foxtailing for same reasons... even snip it off for hash/rosin bin.

That is all she wrote!! It has been a great grow and if the wet weight turns out to be even 10% of the total, it will be my largest grow yet. The Venom OG could very well be the single largest plant I have ever grown and I suspect the Anubis will contain the largest individual nug I have ever grown. I cannot wait to update with dry weights next week. I am limited on drying time due to having to leave for a vacation early next week so I am going to dry them at around 50% RH and hope to be done in about 3 or 4 days. WET WEIGHT: GDP1 = 510g GDP2 = 575g Venom OG = 741g Anubis = 649g

WHAT A HARVEST!!! My largest ever to date. After drying and curing the final weight is ~10.5 ounces of total flower and an additional 2 ounces of golden keif made from dry ice and bubble bags. I am SO STOKED right now. Thanks for checking out my grow diary. I will be back next season to continue to improve my technique.
