Girl Scout Cookies grow by DeltaEye

DeltaEye Another Fast Buds Girl Scout Cookies grow! Big man ting. First time I tried growing their GSC was in the beginning of last year and that being the first hydro and indoor autoflower grow for me, there were a lot of things to learn and mistakes to be made. Even after a really sticky and slow start, I ended up with 600g from 4 plants and the buds were superb and praised by all. :D Since that I've had few tries with variable success, last being six months ago when my winter vacation stretched by a day and when I got back home, I found all my GSC seedlings (about two weeks old, would have been just ready to go into the NFT) dried up, probably by a day, and there was no saving them. :( But now is the time to try again and try to avoid all the mistakes and just get them growing as fast and as smooth as I can. So I want to end up with 16 seedlings, and those split into 4 NFT's (4 per). First I germinated 16 seeds but only 14 did, so I put another 4 just in case and all of those germinated but only 2 look like they are going somewhere, we'll see. But at least I got those 16 seedlings I wanted growing now. So after germinating I placed them in small rehydratable coco pellets and after roots grew through the bottom I placed them in 7,5x7,5cm rockwool cubes. Now growing really close to a 250W fluorescent lamp for the first two weeks or until enough roots (hoping not more than two weeks) poking throught the bottom of the rockwool cubes. After that I'll place them in the NFT's under 2x 600W HID (/MH for the veg) and then we'll see how this grow takes off. :D I somehow managed to get some thrips on the seedlings (probably from some store bought herbs.. #!¤%) but noticed them really quickly and had some neem oil on hand and gave the girls a little treatmeant. Only few had some poopoo on the leaves and I haven't noticed more coming. I'll be keeping an close eye on them little bastards. To be continued!

DeltaEye The plants are doing great, they seem healthy and are growing like they should. Need to wait few more days for all the plants to have grown proper root system to the bottoms of the rockwool cubes. As you can see, I started the seedlings under a 250W CFL lamp and seems to me that the CFL lamp is ideal for seedlings and rooting as long as you can keep the light very close to the plants. I haven't had seedlings grow their roots this fast ever before, and at least when growing AF's in NFT (or AF's generally), its really important to get a proper root system growing (to prevent drowning and for explovise growth when transplanting into NFT) FAST, ideally within two weeks, so the plants have plenty of vegetation stage left when transplanting into NFT in order to get those nice bushes. I placed some of the seedlings under a HPS light like after one week of grow, because I was thinking bigger is better, but they weren't too happy under the hard HPS light and seemed to me like the roots were almost d(r)ying from the bottom / stopped growing so I quickly placed them back under the CFL light. Few days' setback for the ones that were under HPS light, luckily nothing major. You can see the difference in pictures. Happy days. :)
