@LegacyMarketFarm, very good, buddy, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your advice. I've been struggling with those temperatures all winter. But with outside temperatures at -4 degrees Celsius, it's complicated; still, we keep them around 20°C, which isn't bad! On the other hand, the difference between on and off doesn't exceed 5 degrees, so there won't be any problem with temperature fluctuations. As for the light... I'm still keeping it at 60% power since these LEDs have a lot of power, and I prefer to go this way until the buds develop, then I'll crank it up to 100% starting from week 5 or 6 of flowering. @ChachoGreenCrown, Thank you for your time in responding man! Just trying to help out. Have you ever thought of reversing when you run your lights so your lights on is when it is coldest outside? This has worked for others I have helped in the past with this issue. Run the light cycle at night. You want the light intensity at its peak while the buds are developing. Light deprivation is actually a very effective form of low-stress training to signal the plant that the end of the season is near. Essentially what I am describing to you is the ability to control genetic responses in the plant that signal it to do the things we want it to do as growers. The reason you do not want larger fluctuations in temperature in early flower, or throughout veg is over 10 degrees between lights on and lights off is again another form of stress, be it minor it is a signal to the plants to genetically respond in a way that causes stretch. Forms of stress toward the cannabis plant will always make the plant think that the ending of the season is near & I need to do what is needed to reproduce. Before the plant finishes its vertical growth by weeks 4 to 6 of flower the plant will respond to that stress by stretching. This reason is that the female cannabis plant's job is to cast out seeds & reproduce to do this it wants to be tall to spread its seeds out & to catch pollen from the males. For this reason, through veg & early flower, we like tight temperature between lights on and lights off. As you said, 5 degrees is GREAT. Once these ladies finish growing vertically, That same signal to the plants of temp swings larger than 10 degrees will instead trigger something else entirely in the plants. Now that it is done growing, The genetic response to stress at this stage is to get bigger chunkier buds and to get stickier to attract as much pollen to the bud sites as possible. This is why once you are past weeks 4 to 6 depending on the strain you want to open that gap up and begin tricking the plant into thinking it is approaching the end of its life cycle and it needs to respond genetically as such. We manipulate those responses with what is called Low-stress training. Most of this is done through environmental factors. The more you baby your plants through veg & early flower the better the effect low-stress training will have. You want them like spoiled supermodels all the way through until you begin hitting them with environmental signals to do what you want them to do. Light deprivation works very much, in the same way, simulating the end of the season & cloud cover. You can checkerboard your lights, dial them down, etc. It is very effective at caking up those bud sites. But up until this point, It is best to run as maximum PAR onto your plants as possible before having them Taco to shut down photosynthesis. The leafs will curl inwards like a taco it is very easy to spot. We get the plants eating a full 1800 PAR from our LED's in the facility in my grow diary. @LegacyMarketFarm, good to see you again, buddy!! I'm answering everything I can, hope I don't leave anything out.. hehehe first of all, thanks for stopping by again, your advice is appreciated. On another note, I wanted to tell you that I've set the lights to turn on when it gets colder outside.. thanks to that, I keep my minimums around 18°C when it's off, and 22°C when it's on, even when it can drop below zero outside... I also wanted to mention that I have a temperature controller set up. It's the one that keeps it from going below 18°C. The heaters kick in... On the topic of thermal oscillation... I think playing with such a large difference of 10 degrees between off and on can cause problems for the plant's defense, and unwanted enemies like powdery mildew can show up. I do preventive applications during the vegetative stage, and luckily, I've never had any unwanted visitors. On another note, regarding the simulation of the plant's life cycle end... I play with different factors... light intensity... light temperature... in K.. I have equipment ranging from 6500K to 2700K that I use at different stages of the plant.. in addition to watts, I also play with reds, deep reds, UVA, UVAb... I also adjust the substrate temperature, the temperature of the watering solution, and the different feeding... all together, it's the key to perfect flowering. As you can see, I'm currently at a point where I have the panel at 65% with a distance of about 40cm as the manufacturer suggests for this stage of the grow... soon I'll lower it to 30cm and 75% power in week 5 of flowering.. in week 6 of flowering, I’ll start at 90% to finish at 100% by the end of week 6... and so on until week 8 of flowering, then I'll lower it again as the plants mature. We pretty much have the same concept when it comes to lights, but we also need to consider the different equipment used and the intensity in K they offer at each moment. I hope my response helps you.
