Planted the seeds on the 23rd and they have already a spouted on the 25th. Starting the week off with the water pH at 6.0 under a single Viparspectra Full Spectrum LED light. When the seedlings are transplanted, will be adding 3 more lights to the tent.
All seeds have popped. One of them didn't take to the Rapid Rooter grow sponge so I planted another seed 2 days after the others and it popped within 2 days. It took to the grow sponge beautifully. All four plants have been transplanted to their 5 gallon buckets because I am simply too lazy to gradually increase the bucket sizes as they grow. A second 600W LED Full Spectrum Viparspectra Grow light has been added. I will quarter rotate the plants to maintain even light coverage. The plants also have a solid root system developing. So far to so good.
The plants have reached the 2in height mark and are looking nice and healthy. The average PPM is around 600 and the cool temps outside is helping to keep the tent nice and cool.
No issues w/ the plants. I added a fan to keep air flow going. One plant was showing signs of stress most likely due to pH imbalance as I was a day late checking the water due to Halloween festivities It's doing fine now. Plants stand at around 4in-5in tall. Water pH is managed at around 5.9 and PPM levels this week avg 750. Lights are 24in above the plants. We are building a light fixture from scratch so we can add the extra lights soon. Eventually, each plant will have it's own light. Plan is to Top the plants Wednesday during the next water check.
I totally jinxed it when I said that there were no problems with the plans. 2 of the plants started showing signs of stress that looked like everything from pH being too high/too low, nutrient deficiencies, heat stress, etc. Once everything was cleared, I was able to figure out that it was root rot. Half my fault b/c there was too much water in the bucket that left for too long. And it half not my fault b/c for some reason there was not enough air coming out of the air pump. Had to add another air stone line to the buckets and the plants bounced right back. They were also Topped this week. I am enjoying this much slower growth rate that is the complete opposite of the GG4 I had last time. Also trimmed down some of the larger leaves.
This week went a lot better. The 2 plants have recovered beautifully from the root rot. We have implemented some cannabenders onto the the tallest plants to let the smaller ones catch up. They will definitely be ready to switch over to flowering next week. We had to repeat last weeks nutrient levels because we weren't ready for the flowering ratios just yet. I did some defoliation to help clear out the bottom of the plants. We have also built another light fixture out of 1/2 in. black steel pipes to hold the lights. I don't trust the tent to hold four of 600W lights. This is also the start of us building our own tent from scratch. We're building the light fixtures first then we'll be building the frame around those.
This went by without any issues. We used cannabenders to help keep the height down on two of the plants while the other two plants that had root rot catch up. I also defoliated the lower half of the plants. We actually changed the lighting schedule 2 days before we switched the nutrient levels. We might use LST the branches one more time to help curb the stretch period just in case in next week. Surprisingly the plants already has quite a strong aroma (and they haven't even flowered yet!) We also built our own light fixture from black metal pipe so it can confidently have 4 lights in the tent without worrying about the weight. Getting excited for this round. One Early Bloom 1/2 on nutrient schedule from General Hydroponics.
The plants have just finished their first full week in flowering and they are looking very healthy. They are drinking plenty of water. I trimmed the lower half of the plants one last time. I put some more cannabenders on one plant to help curb the height and increase the flowering sites. This is one stinky cultivar! The aromas are getting stronger every day. Not even fully flowering yet and this is already the stinkiest plant I have had the pleasure of growing.
This week the plants aromas are really getting strong now and the flowers are barely forming. White pistils are now starting to show up and I have had to install several cannabenders to help curb the stretch period a little. I also cleaned out the bottom of the plants and added a second fan to the tent. We are on Mid Bloom 1/3 on the GH feeding schedule. The entire 5x5 tent is now full with the plants. We are a little behind wiht posting due to the holiday schedule so this is actually for the week of the Dec. 18th.
The plants are doing great. The flowers are starting the swell up. Its getting a little cramped in the tent. Cleared out the bottom for the last time. I think should have chopped off some more of the middle branches. That will be for the next grow. The temp for the room has been very manageable. I love growing in the winter time. Less stress. Added a few more cannabenders to curb last of the stretch period. This is for the week of Dec. 25 since we havent posted b/c of the holidays.
The plants are really starting to flower, the leaves are starting to get coated in trichomes at 28 days into flowering. They are healthy as they reach up with a nice deep green. I think they are close to the end of the stretch b/c they only grew two inches this week. I think having two fans in the tent is really making a difference here. I just needed a couple more cannabenders for some of the branches, but overall, things are really looking good. We are on Mid Bloom 3/3 on the nutrient schedule. We cleared out the bottom one last time plus some of the smaller branches.
The plants have finally reached the end of the stretch period and they colas are now starting to fatten up. We are now 35 days into flowering that aromas are getting stronger as the days go on. The leaves are getting real frosty with trichomes. Bound to have a lot of sugar leaves for this round. Plants are healthy and green. Roots are thick and white. We have two fans going on for the tent. Several grows in and I am now starting to understand those suckers in the middle of the plant. The plants drink about 3.5 gallons of water every other day which is when they are being refilled.
Plants are doing pretty good. The colas are now starting to fatten up. some of the top leaves are showing signs of some kind of stress. I think it has to do with pH fluctuations in the plants. The plants have strong fruity aromas with a hint of bubble gum. The leaves are getting real frosty with trichomes. Looks like we still have about 4 weeks left on the plants.
We are on the last week of nutrients on the schedule. Last grow cycle we repeated the last of the late bloom 2/2 nutrient levels when the plants needed more time to mature. This cycle we are going to repeat Ripe 1/1 nutrient levels when the plants are going to need a little longer to mature and see how the plants are. We added a few stakes into the pots to help keep the branches that are falling over upright. The trichomes are getting milky with a few having turned amber here and there. The plants are not taking as much water as last time due to the fans going.
Alright we are 56 days into flowering and they are looking really good. The smell is coming through the door. Nice colors are coming through as well. Trimmed off some dying leaves. Two of the plants look like they may be ready to harvest in week or so. And the other two plants look like they may need a week after THAT to be harvested. One plants still have mostly white pistils sticking straight up. Overall the the trichomes are milky with some amber starting to come through. We also added several stakes into the baskets to help keep the plants from falling over. One plant has some buds that about 2 inches big. Everything is getting real sticky now too. Since the plants still have some time to go, we have repeated the last nutrient cycle (Ripe 1/1 on GH feeding Chart) until they are ready.
These plants were extremely easy to grow and keeping track of everything on here helps me keep my grow in check. But these plants were beautiful to grow and the sweet fruity aromas throughout the veg and flower cycles were amazing. Dry sugar leaves total ended up with about 7oz. The plants were sticky when wet trimming. We had to leave one plant an extra week to mature more. We cut off the fan leaves and just hung it to dry. Then tried our hand at dry trimming. I have to say, I kind of like that way of trimming better. For me, it was a little easier to tell what was and wasn't flower. We'll try dry trimming for the next cycle and see what up.
