Used Plagron Seedbox, Seed Starter Kit.
The set contains a small propagator, 12 peat pots and 250 ml of the unique Plagron Seedbooster.
Mixed the 250ml of Seedbooster with 250ml of water and poured it over the peat pots inside the propagator.
Placed the seeds using a tweezer 5mm into the peat pots if possible with the tip facing downwards, covered them with soil.
Closed the lid and made sure temperature stays between 20-24°C.
After three days some seeds germinated. I dont like the propagator from Plagron since all peats pots are adjacent to each other and fresh build roots can get entangled with each other. So I decided to place the germinated ones in my Romberg Propagator under a 12 Watt Lamp at 23-27°C for 2-3 days. I added some water. One has not fully germinated and still has her helmet on.
10/12 have germinated. I threw away the remaining two.
Would you remove the shell to help a seedling to fully germinate?
The plant matter under the shell is usually very fragile and easy to contaminate. I have uploaded a picture as a good example in this diary.
I’ve done it lots. Spritz with water and let the membrane inside moisten up, then either remove carefully with your fingers or with tweezers. I’ve never had one die. I was advised it was because i wasnt planting the germinated seeds deep enough, so have been going a bit deeper so they friction of coming up through the soil removes the shell.
I placed the ten pellets into the pots. I turned on 2 lights, running at 25% and giving the seedlings around 20.000 Lux
I watered them three times during this week. I try to water more at the edges of the pot as the earth seems to dry around there quicker and I want to stimulate the growth of the roots towards the sides.
I leave them at 24 hours. I start with the seedlings at 18000 Lux and increase it till the 4th week. After the 4th week I have all my lights at full power and the top buds have around 55.000 to 90.000 Lux.
i guarantee you that this will not work well, in fact i'll bet on it lol. take a look at my profile for a discussion. I've personally never seen a good 24hours grow, and i've tried it myself , i've seen people talk about it, but i've not seen proof it works well. However i have seen hundreds of examples of 24hours of light not doing well. I've also seen hundreds of examples of 20hours and 18hours not working well. What i do is 24hours for the first three weeks, then i turn it down to 20 , enter flower on 18 hours, and gradually take that down to 12 by harvest time. That's because THC and terpenes (what gives taste to the product) will degrade in light and heat, so the less light the stronger and the tastier the weed. depends what you're after, i'm after quality . Started fertilizing them and improved the air flow with two oscillating tower fans blowing at random speed giving a very natural airflow. I placed four towers in each corner. Since the plants are young I only need two for now.
