01-11-2021: Good afternoon everyone... here we are again. My Bruce Banger will be ready in a week so I thought... I can probably germinate some seeds. I still have a lot of them (thanks to zamnesia)
Every now and then I also post a report on Growdiaries and since you can only enter a competition there by using only one Strain I decided to put a round of Wedding Cake.
I wanted to grow this variety when I still got my seeds from seedstockers, but found it too expensive at the time. Now I had two fish vouchers from zamnesia, each one good for 5 Wedding Cake Auto seeds. I didn't really like AFs per se (although I enjoy the result every day) so I called them and asked if I couldn't get Photos instead of Autoflowers... That was no problem at all, so I now have 10 have seeds.
I have not yet found a method of germination on Hydro that works well for me, so we're going to do it in the most reliable way for me... old-fashioned in Cocos plugs. I let it fill itself with acidified (PH5.9) water and then provided each plug with a seed. I now put this under a 60W purple LED lamp that I still had from my very first cultivation attempt. Once they are up (I'm guessing/hope with a week) these will go into my budget system to grow there under 480W LM301H panels for a few weeks but with only 12 hours of light. The idea is to move these to the large closet as soon as they are about 4 weeks old, but that is not necessarily a requirement because you can also remove the lamps from that loft and move them to this room. That depends a bit on the size.
What I'm going to test this round is how good/bad 12/12 from seed is doing in Hydro. Since most feeding schedules with hydro assume that you only pre-grow 1 week, I thought I might as well rule out that one week. In addition, from the moment the roots emerge from under the net pots, I want to increase the EC to 1.5 fairly quickly. I like small stocky plants without having to scrog. Maybe I'll top and maybe even mainline, but that depends entirely on the development of the ladies.
In any case, there will be no feeding computer for the first few weeks (a bluelab Guardian) and as growth food they are given Hy-Pro Hydro A/B with Calmag (4-4-1 ratio). I expect very low temperatures in space so it won't be a banger. I have the impression that a correct root temperature compensates to some extent.
I'm still looking for a way to transport the ladies in the right way (or I have to find a way to be able to use the same net pots in both systems). But that is of later concern.
Since I only have 1 pre-growth room and 1 flowering room, I will put these ladies in a kitchen cupboard for the next week. The Bruce Banger goes on Sunday and then I can put them in there.
The idea is to continue breeding on 12/12 from now on. After six weeks, new seeds will always germinate and no more than 5 at a time. I now make a round with originally 15 ladies, 3 of them were left behind in such a way that I took them out (to prevent rot) with the probable cause of too little light. 5 Planting will probably yield a little less, but hey, I can't finish it otherwise. And now my friends are very happy with my clearing days but of course that is not what I grow for. In addition, it also hurts a bit to give away 3-4 ounces after so many months of work.

Irrigation: Pressure compensated drippers 7.6 L/H
Disease Prevention: H2O2 50% Silver Stabilized
08-11-2021: All 5 germinated so today is day one of veg stage. Since I am starting on 12/12 the veg stage will be as they grow, I expect to see first signs of flower in week 4 or 5 but it is my first time 12/12 from seed on hydro. So it can be faster but also slower. The plants are fed with 7,6 Liter per hour drippers (pressure compensated). I hope this is an improvement over the old drippers (clogged up weekly).
13-11-2021: All of them have visible roots coming out of the netpot. So raised EC to 0.8 (CalMag and a tiny bit Hydro A/B. Next week I will start with fresh water and an EC of 1.1
15-11-2021: Roots are tapping the water so I expect them to start growing now. Very curious how long it will take them to flower. First time 12/12 from seed on hydro. I think they will start first signs of flower in week 4 but off course it is possible that it takes a lot longer. Not going to top them. Going for 5 main cola's. Will probably defoliate a bit because they are under high power lights and don't want them to become too bushy.
16-11-2021: Differences are starting to show. Just looking at the leaves teel me which ladies are touching the water and which not. Leaves are heavily deformed, I have experience with that on soil but never seen before on hydro. I used to think it was because of fast growth and a Calcium/Magnesium deficiency. So I added some Calmag and will just wait till next week to raise EC to 1.2. Very curious about how big these plants will get.
17-11-2021: Good morning lovers of the green gold..... First algae accumulate in the tank, so put fresh water in it at the end of the week. I still have to be careful with peroxide because of it. the young roots. Besides that, the roots already look quite sturdy and the leaves are also starting to grow considerably. Extremely short nodes but oh well, that was to be expected with such a box of light above it. If the leaf were not so deformed, I would hang the lamps even lower, but desiccation of light is lurking. When the EC is around 1.5, I will dare to do that, planning is 30 cm. The advantage of 3 somewhat weaker panels compared to 2 stronger panels is that all ladies have a lamp right above the plant and that I don't have to be afraid of poor distribution. And in this one, weak is also relative, because in total it is a small 700 watts (officially 720, but they don't quite get that).
Now I have run 12/12 at 100% power before (test round with the budget ali panels) but they did not have as short nodes as this one. Perhaps the combi hydro and 12/12? Well, I'll take a look, otherwise I'll just turn the power back to 75% because of course air must be able to get between the leaves. Someone told me that they have to show their sex under 12/12 17-20 days after germination so that should be in about ten days.. Curious. If that is the case, I will put new seeds in week 5 of flowering. I still have 2 varieties that I haven't tried before... Black Sugar (Seedsman) and Peyote Zkittlez (Seedsman). And I also want to try seeds from Anesia and then of course the strains with ridiculous claims like 36% THC... That would mean more than a third of the buds are resin... wonder if you dry that at all gets (and whether it is at all possible)
18-11-2021: Nothing special today. Refreshed some water, that's it.
21-11-2021: Ok too bad you cannot react on an answer given on a question. But I decided to just order the seeds (Imperium X and Future #1)

22-11-2021: 3rd week now... 4 nodes. Hoping for 5th en 6th node this week so I can top them next week. Expecting pre flower next week but since it's my first 12/12 grow on hydro not sure about that. Wait and see.
23-11-2021: Fucked up with peroxide. Hope they survive😡
24-11-2021: It seemed it was not the peroxide. I noticed the lady in the middel didn't show any signs of the problem while the rest got worse in one day. Since they all share the same water it could not be the peroxide. I had turned on the irrigation pump manually to flush but forget to put it back to automatic. The sprinkler on the lady in the middle got clogged up so didn't receive as much water as the rest. Put put back to auto mode and see... ladies are back again. Love hydro because changes are visible so fast. Hate hydro for the same reason.
Still doing great, just a bit slow but I do believe it is because of the low temperature and the 12/12 schedule. Raised watertemperature to 23˚ average from today on.
02-12-2021: Removed drivers from panels and hang them above to let the air circulate better around the boards
14-12-2021: Today added some H2O2 because there is much algae. Beside the fact that I can see it, they don't look like if they are suffering from it. Very healthy roots and nice color on the leaves.. Buds are starting to develop so from Sunday I start counting as week 1 flower. Very curious how this round will go. Chinese lights, chines hydro setup.. dutch seeds, dutch love... I think it will produce some nice buds in the end.
17-12-2021: Nothing special today.
23-12-2021: Not a great start of this week. My heater broke over night (probably 2 days ago but not sure) and so my water temp was only 12˚C! So bought a new 200W heater. This one has a thermostat but no scale on it so I have to adjust by measuring. Roots are looking great btw.
28-12-2021: Well besides the broken heater I also notice a huge drop in PH (4.8) and that probably is because of the low temperature. Looking bad now. Hopefully better next week
30-12-2021: Recovering from last week's stupid action... But still there so probably surviving.... Raised EC a bit and lowered PH again.

07-01-2022: Removed 2 ladies because of root-rot. Too bad.. 3 ladies left.... looking fine. Also started with some Green Sensation. Just a leftover from previous round
15-01-2022: These pictures are made about 2 minutes after lights went on. So still hanging a bit. They look a bit hungry I think so I added some fresh water with Ata Awa Max A/B. Why? What's wrong with Hy-Pro? Nothing, I got lazy and this was literally within reach of my hands. Will see what happens.
19-01-2022: They seem to like the higher EC. Buds are swelling pretty fast now. Since the RH is pretty low I don't expect that to be a problem. Still about 3-4 weeks left so pretty curious about the results :)
24-01-2022: Buds are looking great but the biggest lady is suffering from stemrot. I cut it out and treated it with peroxide (50%) and now hoping it is just that. Beside the branches I cut off I cannot see anything strange on this lady. The colored leave on the picture is from the same plant and I believe this must be the issue.
Wel had to cut them because I have fucked them up.. Well.. let's see if I still have something to smoke. Nice dense buds but probably with some seeds in it...
