Today (11/15/2021) is not 'germination day' per se, but it is the kick off of another grow and the day that I've put seeds to soil & water. Seeds got a brief few hours of soak, then were loaded in water.
Details: if you look at my previous diary, (GC Autos Northern Lights (2x), Blueberry, Tangerine Dream), you'll notice that the Tangie was a mutant. Low, tight, downward pointing leaves with only 3 lobes. We're trying my 4 remaining seeds from that batch to see what happens this time. Stuff to note:
-Soil is ProMix HP+ this time around (instead of Black Gold Organic) seeds are started in the same.
-People here & elsewhere & a few friends have all said that using fungal support in the soil is the way to go...Xtreme Gardening Mykos has been added to the ProMix (which I believe already has some). More will be added once I up-pot.
-Instead of starting in cups, this time I'm using .75 gallon pots. I've added additional drainage, but I think this will be a good way to get the initial root growth expansive before transplanting.
-Soak water & the soil water is our well water pH'ed to 6.5.
-Heating pads are under and surround the pots set at 78f degrees. Humidity controlled by Inkbird is set to 65% RH. Lights are out until they peep.
Day 5 (11/19): two seeds have broken the soil and are peepin' at me just fine. Two more to go. Turned on one of the HLG225's lowered it and dimmed it back to an exact PPFD 100umols, and they start their 18/6 today. I'll hope the two others will break out in the next couple days, if not I'll find another seed or two to try. I haven't watered or sprayed or anything. These bigger starter pots are holding moisture just fine and probably won't need to water this week.
