Alien Rock Candy Seedlings have been growing pretty tall as you can see in the last photo. I ended up moving them to the center toward the end of the week to try to help the center row Germinate. I had the light (SF-7000) at the top of the tent and the power setting down as low as it goes. I watered with Great White when I watered it once then regular phed water the other time.
I just watered with PHed water and Cal-Mag since they are in Foxfarm Happy Frog soil and won't need nutrients for the first month or so. This week is where the Alien Rock Candy plants started a second node of real leaves. They are still under 24 hours of light (I thought they were Autos).
Continue to just water with Cal-Mag. Second nodes are developing. I will be looking to top some of them next week. I'm watering till run off and watering every 3 days.
Topped the Center Right (then Back Right) Alien Rock Candy. This was the first week I gave them Nutrients. Though gave them less then directed as I thought they were Autos.
The Alien Rock Candy plants are really starting to get big and bushy. Continuing to wait until they are light and then watering till run off. Since I'm on a F-W-W-W-F schedule I didn't end up feeding nutrients this week just water and Cal-Mag. Turned up light to 50% this week thinking they were Autos.
Topped last Alien Rock Candy that wasn't topped yet. I also watered with nutrients again this week. The plants are getting much bushier and I realize that they are Photo's not Autos like the rest of the plants in the tent.
Finally got a new tent so I can separate out the 3 Alien Rock Candy Photo plants from the other Autos. Two of them are getting very tall and they are looking good. They are quickly outgrowing the new tent though.
This was a busy week. Moved the Alien Rock Candy plants out of the 2x4 and put them in a new 5x5 so they would have room as they outgrew the original tent. took a day or two but they bounced back nicely. I was very worried at first that I killed the plants lol.
I let them continue to fill out the tent this week until I flipped them to flower by changing the light schedule to 12/12. They are currently still under the SF-2000 as the SF-7000 is in the other tent they started in. I also Lollipopped them and took about 30 clones.
First week of Stretch. Watered with Cal-Mal and once with GHE Nutrients. Starting to get a sweet smell to them. Ended up losing power for 3 hours one of the days during the light cycle but didn't seem to have an impact.
I still have the SF-2000 in the tent and it seems like they want more light but the SF-7000 isn't free yet so they are stuck with the smaller light for now. I Lollipopped the plants again to keep it clear under the Scrog net.
At this point the stretch is pretty much over and its starting create buds. Some of the branches have a lot of spacing between the nodes where I'm sure having a larger light could have helped for better light coverage.
The plants spent most of this week still under the SF-2000 but I was finally able to move the SF-7000 into the tent for the rest of the run! Hopefully they will help pack on some weight.
The front plant got much darker this week and is looking amazing. I love the patterns on some of the leaves from the color differences. There are also whole leaves getting darker. You can see the Phenotypes of the different plants starting to come out. I'm sure the cooler temps at night aren't hurting either. They also got their last feeding of nutrients this week. They will continue to get Sweet for another week or two and then nothing but water.
They are pretty much on auto pilot from here out. Every time I open the tent I get hit with a sweet candy like smell! I can't wait to see what these plants look like at the end of fade. I'm loving the contrast between the plants.
Continued to water every 3 days with sweet. This is the last week of sweet next week starts just PHed water as they finish flowering. The smell is still amazing when I open the tent. I was hopping that the colas would stacks a bit more but I think using the SF-2000 in the beginning I think created too much stretch so it will be interesting to see what the yield ends up being.
They are just getting PHed water at this point while I wait for the trichomes to finish ripening. The fade on these plants has been amazing and consistently changing. I'm looking forward to what they will look like when they are ready to be chopped to dry!
They are getting their last watering this week and will be harvesting next week. The colors are continuing to fade and look more amazing each day! The tent still smells great.
This is my first grow but I don't think I will ever see such a colorful tent with other strains. I had 3 distinct phenos which was really cool since I only planted 3 seeds. Two of them liked to stretch and grew very tall (the one that ended up with the most color was the tallest of them all while the one that turned black/dark purple first was the medium height) while the once that stay dark green until the fade at the top leaves turned black/dark purple was shorter and more bushy. They responded well to topping beyond a few bugs flying around (used yellow sticky traps and dried out the soil once and they were gone). Never had any other issues pest or disease wise. The low temp last few weeks of flowering was pretty low (60 degrees) which probably helped to bring out the colors. They had a strong sweet smell that reminded me of PEZ!
I'm sad to cut them down as I loved seeing what each day brought to the fade. This is my first run and likely the most colorful one I will ever have. Its been a long 4 months since they sprouted and its been a crazy grow across 3 tents with 2 different lights but without even trying it yet I can say it will be completely worth it once I can try out the weed. It was tricky trying to cut the branches out as I had put some of them through multiple slots. I was only able to hang maybe half the branches the other half I had to use either saver clips or the little metal twist ties though they seemed to have worked quite well. I don't have a weight yet as they are drying but I will update this grow once they are dried and trimmed.
Update: All 3 plants have been trimmed and are curing in jars. ARC #1 (back left) yielded ~95g, ARC #2 (front left) yielded ~71g and ARC #3 (right) yielded ~120g totaling 287g after drying which is a little over 10oz. While thats not great for a 5'x5' most of the grow was under a SF-2000. I was only able to get the SF-7000 in there until the end of week 4 of flower.
@Oklahomasunrise, It was an LE strain that Seedsman (@Seedsman) seeds was giving away as freebies with their orders a while back. I don't think they currently sell it but I wish they did I would buy it in a second!
Oh my goodness me this has to be one of the greatest first grows I've seen on this site so far. Wow. Look at those colours. What a beautiful grow. I am currently going through your diaries in week by week in date order. If you fancy doing similar with mine then the order is: "Experimental 1st Grow" (plant abuse), Karen (Kings Kush Auto), Bertha (Big Bang Auto - stunted), Queen Citronella (Super Lemon Haze), Nesia (Amnesia Haze Auto), Enigma (Tiny Pot Mystery Auto), Misty (Mystery Auto). I am just finishing your first grow here, what stunning colours - really makes me want to try some F2! (speaking of which I have some F1 seeds arriving any day). Wondering where your room is that it loses power and gets flooded! On a boat? In a swamp? Hah. You're not Shrek are you? hahaha
@UnorthadoxDude, lol I'm not Shrek. My house loses power a few times a year it seems like. This was before we got a battery backup for our sump pump so our basement flooded (which is where the tents are). Lots of learning from that grow. Thanks it was an amazing first grow and sure I will check out your grows.
Very nice pal. Pity about no9 but hey, 8-9 is super good. Think I had a 6-10 on my 2nd run. But I was drowning my seeds in germination.
Hope you enjoyed your bounties.
