This is one tough lil strain. Its hard to believe she is still making it and she is thriving despite all my screw ups. This week I added a poor mans chiller. Found a 48 qt cooler on sale, took 100 ft of dark vinyl tubing and cut a couple holes in the lid of the cooler and ran one hose to a pump and the other hose as a return to the reservoir. Attached it to a temp control and its working great. I keep a bunch of coke bottles in the freezer and swap them out every 12 hours. Once everything is cooled down, a couple bags of ice will last a couple days. Keeping her at around 67 solution temp. This week been letting her stretch upwards with a little tying down of a couple branches. Trimmed a lot of the lower foilage that wasnt getting any light. If I can keep her in check growing the way I want for another week I should be able to put the plant on auto for the rest of the grow without needing a scrog net.

As a RDWC grower myself, I would highly recommend adding a chiller to your setup. Root issues, in my opinion, are the only downside of growing in DWC or RDWC, but adding a chiller and some Recharge (bubbled first with an air stone for 24 hrs before adding to your res), and you will never need to worry about those roots. It is not impossible to be successful without a chiller, however, the ability to keep the root zone at 68° has had a major impact on my garden. At 68° H2O has the ability to hold much more oxygen than at 75° to 77°. That extra oxygen in the solution makes a world of difference. My 1st run in RDWC I battled high res temps and root rot as well, but since adding the chiller and some recharge to my reservoir I have not seen even a hint of root rot in the last 3 years... Best of luck with this grow!!!

@chopdoc,that sounds awesome. You should document it and post it for people looking for cheap or homemade equipment options.

@MagicMikesMeds, Thats it. You would have 100 ft of regular garden water hose coiled up in the cooler so the liguid has plenty of time to circulate thru the fridge and cool down before going back to the reservoir. The doors has nothing electrical in it so they are safe to drill thru to run the hoses thru. The video I was watching was for an aguarium cooler and they guy said it would treat a 55 gal aquarium easily with a 1.7 cu ft fridge. No reason it cant do the same for a hydroponics set up.

@chopdoc,that sounds like a pretty neat idea. I met someone last year that had “jerry-rigged” a Poland Springs office water bubbler to work as a water chiller. I like the idea that you are thinking about. So basically the water would flow through the cooled hose in the refrigerator and then pumped into the garden? Is that right?

192 grams from one plant under only 600W and it all fits in those two little jars....wow.

@DKBJJ, I am trying a growing technique called fluxing and am expecting a full pound from one seed with the same 600 watt light. Flipped it into flowering yesterday with around 60 cola sites on her. Have a second grow using fluxing technique I started a couple weeks ago and that diary is here on this site if you wish to check in on it. Its the Purple Kush fluxing grow I have going on now.

Girls look really good! You could defoliate slightly on top to give smaller buds a chance these last weeks. (Plants lose leafs near end of their life) good luck bro!!
