PickleRick And we are back! After the last crop was burnt to a crisp (housesitter forgot to water) we got 2 new beans in the dirt. Went with 2 different strains to test my SCROG skills but both share roughly the same flower period and growth patterns. Really, with my limited space I figured this is the best way to get 2 different strains in short order and hoping it works out! Both beans popped in 24 hours placed in Rapid Rooters, inside a rotisserie chicken container (cleaned and sterile!), small amount of water, and a heating pad underneath. After about 36 hours, both had breached the surface of the RR. Need to balance light distance/intensity to make sure these don't get too lanky cuz they are moving quick!

PickleRick So far so good! This update is a bit earlier than 1 week (pics taken 2 days ago) but with Xmas around the corner I wanted to make sure I could keep it up to date-ish She seems to be doing well. No issues with germination and seems to be off to a good start. Gave her a light watering yesterday and just taking it easy. Have a happy holidaze everyone! πŸŽ„β›„ Edit: ffs all my pics are blurry as fuck lol lll work to make them better next week

PickleRick Both ladies seem happy! Nothing too crazy this past week and just moving along. Blueberry is moving a bit slower than her roommate but not too far off. I crushed whole malted barley and sprinkled and mixed into the top 1" and watered this week. Aside from that, no nutes, just pH'd water

PickleRick Not quite sure what happened but she seemed to be nitrogen deficient pretty early. I started to see some leaves go pale but assumed it was from the light intensity but after a day or two I saw increasingly more paleness and stunted growth, especially next to her roommate. I fed a super light nutrient feeding and some compost tea a few days ago and she seems to be moving again. This is a new-to-me soil so I suppose learning how long they can live off just pH'd water and nutrients in the soil is part of the learning curve. Crossing my fingers on this one!

Nitrogen and magnesium deficiency is the most obvious to me, maybe just increase your nutes a little, check your ph is all good, you got a fan blowing on it too? It looks a little "weak" πŸŒ±πŸ‘

PickleRick I think I went too light on nutes (thanks for help in the grow question!!) and been struggling with liquid nutes so switched to Down to Earth dry amendments. I scratched in 1 Tbs of their All Purpose (4-6-2) about 6 days after I fed with the liquid nutes to give them time to break down. She is recovering from her issues and seems to be rebounding. Past few days she went from stagnet to kind of explosive (relative to her previous growth). I do have to say, these dry amendments stink like fucking crazy lol

PickleRick Another late dairy entry but pics taken 8 days after my last update, sorry! She seems to have recovered extremely well from her earlier issues. Some leaves show signs of issue but think it is residual? She responded to topping very well and has had vigorous growth since correcting her earlier issues. I installed the screen and getting final placement of the two pots down. They are right at the screen and will be starting their actual SCROG soon. She seems to be healthy and enjoying the dry amendments. Yesterday I scratched in another 1.5 tablespoons of DtE All Purpose and watered.

PickleRick An update that’s finally on time, one in a row! This lady seems to be going great. She’s adjusted to dry amendment really nicely and has some robust growth. The nutrient issues she had in the early weeks appear to have subsided and she’s growing healthy. She was defoliated (second half of pictures) to encourage additional growth and seems to have responded well. The scrog is just beginning to take place and finding the best route to tuck these two will be challenging in such a small space (2x4)

I scratched in 1 TBSP of Down to Earth AP (4-6-2) 5days ago with 2L of pH’d water (6.5). I believe I over watered as the leaves got droopy and then all of a sudden had a bunch of gnats. Killed them, soil is drying but now pale leaves and brown spots

Looks like a small over watering, and it needs more nitrogen, and CalMag

Plant looks very hungry. Lots of deficiency signs. Normally it would be a sign of ph out of range in substrate. I would check next run off just to know. Increased feed if run off is in range. NPK ratio for vegging is 3-1-2. NPK ratio for flowering is 1-2-3. Add more course perlite or coco coir in future grows. Perlite Will improve drainage, both provide more air to roots which is very important for the plant in general. Also both improve resistance to overwatering greatly. Like minimum 30 percent instead of 5 percent. Would be a recommendation as well. Your substrate mix will dictate how big, and speed of growth that can happen as well. Good luck and happy growing 🌱🌱🌱

You need way more potassium there too. That’s not a good NPK ratio. For veg you’d want something more like 4-2-6.

Mate good luck with your growth, since last August i have the same problem, I had success in 1 out of 8 plants, all the rest got stunted for good ,first the lower leaves got yellow then crispy ,in the end i got pissed and killed em all. i started new growth now. I'm trying to keep notes on every plant for nutes and water, I dont know what Im doing wrong. Anyway good luck again, cheers.
