I have 2 leds in my 3x3x6 tent, One is a king plus 1200 and the other is a marshydro 600. I have had trouble keeping the temp down even with an exhaust fan and 2 small fans inside. Since its my first grow, I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. Im using smart pots with the bottom half filled with Fox Farm Ocean Forrest and the top half is Happy frog. I wasnt going to use any nutes for my first run.I havent decided if Im going to lst or if im just going to let them grow naturally.

Does tying down branches make a huge difference in quantity? Why wouldnt you perform LST? My plants are super bushy, at what point do they start to take off vertically? Thanks!

Hi @907stephen! Final yield is related to : plant's structure, number of bud sites, and the size/weight of the colas. In order to maximize buds sites and get a beautiful structure with big colas, you'll need to do some slight LST so the light will cover every part of the plant. From what I see in your diary, your baby is too young / too short to work on LST now. However, there's something you can do to renforce it's "bushy" aspect : ponytail her! Ponytailing is basically bringing the top leaves together and wrapping them with a rope/wire/clothespin. Doing this a few hours everyday will allow bottom stems to develop better/faster, and in the end you'll get a really bushy baby with almost all of the branches at the same height (flat canopy). I've been doing this recently on my 'blackberry' diary, take a look at the first weeks this might help you understand this process. Also be warned, many growers do confound LST and bending/trellising : when you work with LST, you need to bend the stems progressively, a few inches a day, and never exceed a 45° angle with an autoflowering strain, otherwise you'll stunt her and slow down her growth. Hope this helps, I'll be around, keep us up-to-date and happy growing!

Is it better to wait until you see deficiencies or just give small amounts of nutrients through the whole grow? A few of my lower leaves were slightly turning yellow and then it was like a light switch, the whole plant turned yellow. I let my plants dry before watering, ph is ok.

Hi @907stephen! With autoflowering strains it's better not to feed unless the plant needs it. They will quickly recover from a slight deficiency if you react fast, but they won't recover fast (maybe not recover at all) from a nutrients abuse and a soil toxicity. That being said, I've been giving a few nutrients to my last autos and most of them did enjoy it. Don't forget it's also strain related. So the best thing if you want to add nutrients it to go step by step and start with a very low dosage. Keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

As it is easier to manage a deficiency than an over feeding , I would recommend you to wait for a slight deficiency and then feed her with the right nutrients amount , you don't wanna flush 19L of soil because of an over feeding issue !! Hope it will help you 😘

hi. i agree to Stick. if you want to feed them start with 1/3 of the ammount and wait what is happening . and never put nutrients onto a dry soil. watch your plants and give them the next time (4-5 days later) half of the amount. if they react you can go slightly to more. but on nutrients is to say.. less is more. if you give her less she shows it to you. if you give her to much she dies......- theat the same with water and light.. happy growing

@907stephen, You're welcome. We all learn by failure/mistakes. You're still going to have some quality buds, for sure 💪

@Stick, thank you, I feel like I have made a ton of mistakes on my first go around. I tend to learn by making mistakes. I kept this one simple and next time, I will make little tweaks and hopefully get a better outcome next time. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

One ties higher up branches down so the lower branches think they're the terminal/apex/top bud/node and grow faster - this helps create a flat canopy (the inverse of the normal Christmas tree shape). You want as many bud sites on the same level as the canopy for lots of fat buds because they're getting great light.

That’s a ton of combined light in a 3x3. I don’t grow autos, but they sound well suited for placing the light vertically, pointed at the side of the plants. Maybe not enough room in a 3x3 to allow for that. Mine is 2x4. 280w (actual draw) light above pointed down as is typical. And a sideways facing 140w pointed at a slight downward angle - think an hour before sunset, only it’s full intensity light. I rotate/move plants a bit every watering day. They fill out in an inverse Christmas tree almost by themselves after one topping or fimming
