Seed was put in a glass of water on the 2nd of January 20:00 (8PM). Around 15h later it sunk to the bottom and I transferred it to a wet paper towel inside a zip. Around 51h later (so ~36h inside zip) the seed had not yet opened. I am a little worried, but at the same time not because I've looked up what the pro's say and some of them don't even look at the seed until after the seed has spent at least 48h inside the paper towel. I will be patient and wait for the seed to open. After the seed has opened I will be even more patient and let the root grow for a bit. I have grown 2 of these plants in my lifetime and first time was really good, second time was very bad, and the second time I planted it when the root was ~1mm long. I will not rush things this time. I will also be careful to not let the root grow too long. If I'll have it my way, then I'll be planting this baby tomorrow evening, so in a bit less than 24h from now. If I have to reschedule then it will probably be planted on the 6th of January. Worst case scenario: We have to restart with a new seed. Bless you. Update 5 Jan 2022 17:29 (05:29 PM): We have a root! The seed has opened ever so slightly and the root has grown more and more during today. I want the root to grow a tiny bit longer before I plant it. I will take another look before bedtime. Update 5 Jan 2022 20:43 (08:43 PM): Root has not grown much since the last picture, will plant tomorrow. Update 6 Jan 2022 10:05 (10:05 AM): Will plant later. Root is too short. Update 6 Jan 2022 15:00 (03:00 PM): Root is still shorter than I had in mind but my patience has ran out and I think it is still a fine length for the seed to do really good. I also have very good soil for her with claimed great amount of nutrients for seedlings. When it gets large enough I will transplant her to a 11L pot. The 11L pot has been filled with more than 11L soil. Probably around 15L. By the way, the plant has a name, her name is "Satan" but is referred to as a "she". Update 12 Jan 2022 18:00 (06:00 PM): We have a sprout! I saw the sprout some hours ago. I am sure that I planted the seed quite perfectly in the middle. However, the sprout happened very much to the side. I suspect that there was something in the soil that might blocked the sprout. So far it looks like we planted Satan on the 6th of January and we got a sprout on the 12th. I will consider Satan to be in germination stage until it grows a little more. Then I will treat it like she's in the vegetative phase. ----------------------------- SUMMARY: Day 1-21 in Satans life has been so wonderful. Not a minute goes by without me feeling euphoric about her. Every day when I wake up I go to the grow-room and tell her good morning. I hold her largest leaf between my thumb and index-fingers to hold leaf (hold hand) and we just hold leaf together for a few seconds while I admire her beauty. She is so absolutely gorgeous and kind and she is also very happy with her environment. I already have another plant in another grow-room which also is a Northern Lights and I have kept a diary of her as well, just not on growdiaries.com (everything is kept in a Word-document). This other plant is called Kim, named after Kim Jong-Un. Kim and her diary is going to be utilized as a "roadmap" for Satan, so I should know what to expect and when to expect it. I also did a few mistakes with Kim, such as water too much or let her grow with way too much nitrogen in the air. Satan will instead be the best grow I have ever done - hopefully. I thank you all for reading and joining me on this adventure. Kim and Satan says hello!

Hi, so I planted the seed on the 6th of Jan and it sprouted on the 12th, approximately 144 hours later. The plant is still in "germination" stage, right? And it will be until... when? How to know when it enters vegetative stage? And flowering stage? What universal signs are there

If you’re referring to the diary weeks.. it really doesn’t matter. The minute the cotyledons open and there’s two leaves I call it first day/week of veg.. As far as flowering, with an auto, i would start the first flowering week when you start seeing pistils/clusters of pistils beginning to show up.. usually week 3 to week 6 from seed with autos.

Please see my last few images. The sprout is far away from the middle where I planted the seed. Is this an issue? Does it look weak/unhealthy?

Your seed is looking fine, and the position of it the pot be it not ideal is not a huge problem. Plus when and if you transplant this, you can centre it back into the new pot. FYI it is not the best idea to transplant autos. Best of Luck and Happy Growing

I have transplanted one auto before and it was successful. It was grown and harvested but was a different strain (Royal Dwarf Auto). I have packed the soil just right to allow me to turn the plant upside down and have a firm grip of the plant. Should I do this later, or now?

I feel like it’ll be less of a shock to do it while it’s just sprouting.. I don’t mess with autos often but most ppl say to start it in its final pot.. so waiting awhile would seem to be more of a shock if the roots start to build up around the outside of the container you’re in. At that point they’ll have to work to grow out into the new environment, but if you do it before that happens they would hardly notice.. that’s what makes sense to me at least

22 January: Today on the 22th of January 2022, the vegetative state has begun for my plant Satan. It might have started a longer time back, or maybe it hasn't really started yet. I am just learning how growing cannabis works, so I'm going to go on a limb here and try to get a feeling for when the different stages begin and end. The reason I think it starts today is that I am seeing changes in growth every day when I go tell her good morning, and she is also drinking between 1.0-1.5 deciliters daily. It doesn't "feel" like a baby anymore, it feels like a very young teenager that needs lots of food and energy to grow. I am planning to let Satan grow to around 30cm, then I will top her. I will also early on introduce ScrOG. Right now the "ScrOG-net" is busy, it is used by my other Northern Lights plant which is on day 62 but which I think I will harvest just in time for when Satan will need it. 23 January: Today I added a top layer of leca. I watered very little this morning and when I felt the soil tonight it was still damp on top (of the soil, not leca). I will be careful tomorrow morning and make sure the soil is dry before feeding her. 24 January: I did not feed her more today since the top layer was still dry. I moved some leca away from the stem to allow more sunlight to reach that part. I will reintroduce leca later when she grows stronger. According to my "notes for myself", Northern Lights Auto reached vegetative stage 10 days after sprouting. I think I should expect signs of flowering around mid-february. 25 January: Soil felt dry today so I gave Satan som watering with the very tiny added nutrients, about 0.5ml/L of Acti-Vera and Bio-Heaven by BioBizz. Don't hate me for using nutrients this early in the grow - I am an enthusiast, I want to see what happens when I grow one way or the other. I want to learn and become great at growing, not great at following other diaries. Thank you for letting me be me! Today I also added about 0.1ml of Bio-Down which is used to reduce the pH-level. I watered Satan all of the remaining water with the added Bio-Down but the pH-level did not immediately reduce, at least not what was noticed on the pH-meter that was stuck in the soil right beneath the area that received the watering. I will keep water Satan and add some Bio-Down because I am aiming for a controlled pH-level of 6.2-6.3. Thanks for checking in today and make sure to check out my profile to see my other baby (which is seen in the images!), she is a Red Strawberry Banana Auto that was just recently planted! 26 January: I watered her clear water and added more pH-Down. The pH-levels are still too high. I want to give it my all on this plant so I am aiming for 6.2-6.3 pH-levels. I have read that those levels are "perfect" for these kind of plants. I appreciate all tips and love in the comment section! I read it all and of course reply to all of you, my friends! 27 January: I watered her plain water and introduced LST today. pH levels are still too high... 28 January: This morning I did some LST for a few hours. Now I will let her grow straight for a few days. I will re-introduce LST in a few days. The goal is to make the plant grow larger and stronger. 29 January: Watered a little. No LST today.

Please see my image for day 24 marked grow question 1: Is she in the early stages of flowering? Is this officially the end of the vegetative stage? If you were to estimate, then how long do you believe she has been in vegetative stage and how long she has left, if any? Thank you!

I looked at your day 24 image and she is starting to show sex. The Pistils or white hairs means its a girl. This also means showing that she will soon enter flowering stage. Showing sex is first part of maturating. Preflower she will start to stretch more and then enter into flower with mini bud sites. Good Luck and Happy Growing!

7 Feb: Watered with a tiny bit of pH-Down, also 0.5ml Acti-Vera + 0.5ml Bio-Heaven. I plan to feed her 2L of this mixture (total of 1+1ml nutrients) for the remainder of this week. I will feed more if I have given all feed and the soil is still dry, otherwise no. I just now calculated that it would mean around 285ml of water per day for 7 days in a row, I think that is a bit too much. 8 Feb: I asked a grow question regarding if I should trim (defoliate) my flower. Thanks to everyone who took time to answer! In conclusion I will not defoliate my flower. 9 Feb: Watered 10 Feb: Today I started using nutrients and I deliberately decided to use the minimum amount possible. I will then see how my plant reacts and either continue with nutrients and slowly increase to "correct" dosages, or switch back to plain water for a little while longer. Also, if you look at the text above after "7 Feb", you see that I used nutrients there as well. However I used tiny, tiny dosages and I also shared the water with my other plant: https://growdiaries.com/diaries/133066-grow-journal-by-depplover49. The feed ran out in just 3-4 days and the plants seem to like it so that's why I had to refill my watering can today. 11 Feb (Day 29): Today was my best performance yet when it comes to mixing nutrients. I measured the pH-levels of the water, added one nutrient, checked the pH-levels again, then repeated until I was done. I also used two different meters since I believe they're both not really a 100% working. I am thinking about investing in a better one, these two were like $15 each and I heard that they can break after a while. Anyways, I checked the soil using both meters and the green one show 6.9 and the red one 6.9-7.0. I'm quite sure it's at 6.9 and my feeding mixture is about 6.5. I am hoping to be able to report a lowered pH-level in a few days (if that's how it works hehe). 12 Feb (Day 30): She is getting wider and bigger, her leaves are erect, she responds very well to nutrients and pH is 6.8-6.9. The green pH-meter is saying 6.8! 13 Feb: Damn she grew 7cm last night, a bit more than 2 inches.

Firstly I want bud that is as potent as possible. Secondly I want a big yield. I have heard that trimming will direct energy to buds. Is trimming something I should do right now, judging by how it looks? Or should I just let it grow? I have plenty of space, so that's not an issue

Plants can not "direct" energy, all energy is used equally wherever there is growth occurring. All of the plants energy is made in/by the leaves. so......... Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth. or......... less leaves = less energy being made = less growth. If you want maximum yield, leave as many leaves as possible. Potency is dependant on genetics, but the healthier your plant, the better it is able to express its genetics. Forget trimming and concentrate on keeping your plants as happy and healthy as possible and they will do the rest. Besides, if your plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place! Stick with 18/6 too, this is optimum for cannabis. Hope this helps, Organoman.

14 Feb (Day 32): Today is first day of flowering. My plant has most likely been flowering for more than just today, but I will count today as her first day. 15 Feb: Today I will double the amount of nutrients, except for TOP-MAX which will increase in dosage next week. I will monitor the plant very carefully and also ask grow questions if I see anything suspicious (as in nutrient burn). I have used very little nutrients with this plant and that is because the soil already had nutrients from the start, and I also wanted to give her clean water for as long as possible. Now she has lots of budsites(?) and flowers are starting to grow. Therefore I will now take a "risk" and increase the dosages to encourage even more growth, but I will go back to clean water if I see anything strange. Please note that even though I have doubled the nutrients now, it might still be too little nutrients/she could maybe handle more and be better off with more. But hey, if that is the case then: Lesson learned, improve on the next grow! 16 Feb: Gave her a strong dose of pH-Down. Hopefully it will climb down a few levels. Will measure tomorrow. 17 Feb: pH-levels are 6.8. The flowers are starting to grow in size <3 18 Feb: The leaves are starting to get a purple shade! 19 Feb: This morning the flower looked a bit tired. I purposefully did not give water yesterday so I take this behavior as a sign that she is thirsty. Gave her 1000ml of water with 3ml Bio-Grow, 3ml Bio-Bloom, 1ml Top-Max, 3ml Bio-Heaven & 3ml Acti-Vera. Also gave a bit of pH-Down. Will see how she react over the day and tomorrow. 20 Feb (Day 38): She seems to react really good on 1 liter of water so that is what I will keep on giving her every morning. Today was 2nd day in a row.

28 Feb (Day 46): Watered 1.5 liter! 1 Mar (Day 47): Watered 1.5 liter 2 Mar: Watered 1.5 liter again. The soil feels moist now after 10 hours of watering so I will not give water tomorrow and see how she react. When I opened the tent I think I got a whiff which smelled like 15% of a mens lockerroom. It was still pleasant in a way and I did not get the same smell when I smelled more carefully, then it smelled like weed. My fear is that the soil is too wet and that is what I smelled, so I will give her a chance to become dry or at least more dry than now and see if I ever can smell that smell again. 3 Mar: So just according to plan mentioned in my entry above - I have not watered anything. I felt the soil this morning and the soil was a little cold and most likely moist. I will look at the leaves later. I also measured pH for the first time in a while and it's at 6.6 according to both meters. I might try to reduce it to 6.2-6.3, but I'm not sure yet. 4 Mar: Watered 1.5 liter with nutrients 5 Mar: Watered 1.5 liter with no nutrients 6 Mar: Watered 1.5 liter with nutrients

25 Mar (Day 71): 26 Mar: 27 Mar: Watered 2000ml which was too much, it overflowed very little so it poured out from the bottom of the pot. I decided to let the plant sort it out herself so I will not give her any water at all for a few days. My thinking is that she will have time to "absorb" all water and moisture from the soil and then rather be starving than drowning when I decide to give water again. When I do decide to start give water again then I will not give nutrients, I am thinking about flushing now. 28 Mar: Starved 29 Mar: Starved 30 Mar: Starved 31 Mar (Day 77): Starved

Judging by how it looks, what is your recommendation for nutrition now when it is so late in flowering. Should I keep giving her bloom nutrients or should I just give water to "flush" her? Thank you

As an organic grower, you do not need to flush. The yellowing on your tops comes from light being too close. Raise your light. Despite I don't know about Biobizz and you don't provide any data on your feedings, I think your soil have enough to carry trough the last 2 weeks, since at this point plants don't need much nutrients, and they do not show signs of deficiencies.
