I'm going away for 30 days about a week into this grow. I'm going to automate weeks 1 through 5 by using the Blumat watering system along with the automated fan from AC Infinity. Hopefully, these will keep things going while I'm gone. I've never used the Blumat products before and I'm excited to see their potential. If I succeed, I'll return to happy 5-week old plants. If not, I'll have to start a new grow...which is what I was going to do anyway. I have nothing to lose but a couple of seeds. Let's get this automated grow started.
Day 1 - I placed the seeds directly in a fist-sized clump of Coast of Maine Seed Starter soil that was then placed in a 3-gallon pot full of Coast of Maine Stonington Blend. This will ensure the seedling doesn't get exposed to the nutrient-rich soil too soon. I set the light 2 feet above the top of the pots so they have room to grow into the 18" to 12" range. I also set the light strength to 60% during germination. The temperature in the tent remained 75 degrees and humidity was 70%. I also covered the soil over the germinating seeds with mason jars to act as humidity domes.
Day 4 - Both pots sprouted this morning. I immediately removed the mason jar humidity domes. I also increased the light to 70% strength and installed the Blumat watering system to help me keep things growing while I'm gone.
I'm going away for the first 30 days of this grow and am automating weeks 1 through 5 by using the Blumat watering system along with the automated fan from AC Infinity. Let's see if I succeed.
Day 9 - I’ve been out of town for 3 days and all seems well based on these images from the camera in the tent. Obviously, I can’t see enough detail to diagnose issues and even if I could I’m not able to do anything. But, they are growing larger each day and the temp and humidity are stable.
Day 11 - I’ve been out of town for 5 days and all is well. Plus, I'm in Puerto Vallarta, so everything is better with me.
The experiment continues. I'm away for the first 30 days of this grow and am automating weeks 1 through 5 by using the Blumat watering system along with the automated fan from AC Infinity. Let's see if I succeed.
Day 17 - These images from the camera in the tent show good progress. The temp is stable but humidity increased a little.

Day 24 - This image from the camera in the tent show good progress. The temp is stable but humidity increased a little.
The experiment continues. I return home next week to see if automating the first 30 days of this grow using the Blumat watering system and automated fan from AC Infinity is working as well as my tent camera shows. Fingers crossed
Day 30 - This image from the camera in the tent show good progress. I think they may be getting too much water as I see some dropping and the humidity levels are rising.
In other news. Oaxaca Mexico exceeded our expectations. Amazing food, in a beautiful and clean city. Super walkable too.
It worked! After 30 days away, I returned home to see if automating the first 30 days of this grow using the Blumat watering system and automated fan from AC Infinity worked.
Day 36 - I defoliated quite a few large fan leaved and did some LST to expose some flowers to light.
My two Grandaddy Purple Autos are light green/yellow in color. Is a lack of nitrogen the cause or is it something else? What do you recommend to fix the issue?
Light is too close too soon. Apparently the others did not take the time to look. You got light stress. Should be at 14 to 16 inches in heavy flowering.
The plants bounced back after the defoliation and a watering with Squid concentrate and some water that had banana peels soaked in it for a few days. I just got the Fox Farms trio of nutes and will introduce those on the next watering.....probably tomorrow. Now, to search for what the light patches on the leaves are. Hmmmm?
Day 49 - I used the Fox Farms trio of nutes last week and the results are fantastic. The plants look healthy for the first time.
Day 52 - Another watering with the Fox Farms trio. Buds are fattening nicely.
Day 56 - Rinsed with Botanicare Clearex solution.
Day 58 - 2 Days after the rinse and the buds are fattening nicely. The pots are still too wet to water so I'll patiently wait to introduce the new Fox Farms Bembe and Cha Ching.
Day 62 - Last week was a rinse. This week I returned to watering with the Fox Farm nutes, adding the Bembe and Cha Ching to the trio and Cal Mag.
Day 68 - Stacking nicely and the pistols are turning red. Watered with the Fox Farm Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Cal Mag, Bembe and Cha Ching .
Day 72 - The Colas are stacking nicely and the Stigmas are turning red at a faster pace. Trichomes are still clear so I wait.
Day 74 - Watered with Bembe and Cha Ching.
Day 78 - Fading nicely and the Colas are continuing to stack. Trichomes are still clear so I wait.
Day 80 - Trichomes on the smaller plant are starting to cloud with a few turning amber. It won't be long now.
