Germination
I germinated this seed in a styrofoam cup with promix. Pretty oafishly picked it out of the cup and transplanted to the hydroton way too early, but it worked out ok. This plant wants to live! Decided to top feed with a small pump that comes on every 20 minutes until it develops better roots. I’m pretty sure I just used ph adjusted tap water that I sat out for 24 hrs.

Pleased with the growth, all info is approximate until we get to weeks of flower when I actually started this diary. Filling this in retroactively. Had some trouble with the grow flipping breaker in the garage… had to spread out the power more evenly onto different circuits. Lost power to grow for a at least 6 hrs at one time, but didn’t have too negative an affect on the plant

This was a big week/ couple of weeks. I cut off most lower leaves and branches that didn’t come above the top third of the plant. I tried to even the canopy by bending each branch including the main stem flat to the height of my scrog net. I also gave them the Kushman Chiropractic that I wanted to try where I twisted each branch every few inches in opposite directions until the inner husk breaks. The plant really hardly looked phased afterward, I was happy with the results. The rust spot appeared during this time I think; need to figure out the problem, but the overall plant still seemed happy to me. Began adding silica to the solution… probably helping 12/28/2021 I added the 10th planet clone to the other Hydrobucket… I’m going to finish flowering the auto while the photo vegs.

When changing water I have been pumping used solution out of bucket, adding back dechlorinated tap water, and then adding nutrients and adjusting PH with up and down solution in the bucket roots and all. I have been adding frozen water bottles filled with solution to keep res water cool. I guess I’m in preflower/flower. Starting to see more and more pistols. I think I’m going to let them grow without tucking them into the scrog net. Water is going down, ppm is going up and ph is going down. There are rust spots on lots of leaves, assuming it is due to ph fluctuations or vpd being off. Adjusted humidity controller down to 45%… might need a bigger dehumidifier. Adjusted Temp controller down to 67F. Hard to keep tent warm enough for that humidity. Garage is cold right now. Temps outside are in the 20s. Update: 1/17/2022 the plants got too cold one night and started to look terrible. Leaves drooped and almost looked shriveled up. Should have gotten pics. Not sure if the heater gave out or what. I switched to 2 on the heater and it seems to be working again. My dehumidifier is useless. The next day the plants seemed happy again. Another cold front is coming in a couple days… Also I think that the rust spots were from being too humid for too long, and I read that it could spread. I picked a few afflicted leaves but it wasn’t too bad. Moved the light a little bit higher to maybe encourage more height in the colas. I wanna try mainlining the clone. I’ve already topped it once, just to control its height while I focus on the auto flower. Update: 1/19/2022 Plant bounced back from the cold. Heater seems to be doing a good job, but the dehumidifier is too small. Humidity is hovering around high 50s despite controller being set to 45, and the temp is staying close to 70F again. Gonna get cold again soon and test my equipment. I defoliated a bit more to get more light to the lower branches. Next time I’ll err on cutting the iffy lower branches before flower. Raised the light to about 12” above canopy, and backed off the nutrients, might back off more next rez change. Plant is drinking plenty of water. Ph is remaining a about 6.1, but the ppm is going up around 100 per day. Decided to keep the four branches on the 10th Planet. When they get a bit longer I’ll top those to get 8 branches, then I might scrog em, maybe top again. I spread the 4 branches out, was gonna hold them down with ties, but ended up just bending them. I wasn’t comfortable knuckling the plant yet, but I tried. I haven’t changed the rez solution for the clone yet. Probably need to, but it seems to be doing well, and I don’t wanna mess it up. Clone: drinking water, ph is stable at 6.0, ppm is staying right at 600. Looks healthy. Roots looks good(no slime.)

Got cold again, had to replace space heater. Refilled the rez, the plant drank most of the 5 gallons quickly, and the ppm remained at about 1000 and the ph stayed stable. Really considering defoliating at least like 25% of the fan leaves to let more light get to colas. I’ve been using really cold water to change the rez on both buckets. Like close to ice water cold, and it still hasn’t bothered the plants much that I can tell. The plant looks healthy. 10th Planet: I drilled holes in the bucket so that I had a place to anchor wire for LST.(does make lifting net pot a lot more labor intensive) Update(1/24/2022) Defoliated. Took off all the big fan leaves. Hopefully this helps the buds fatten. Schwazzing I think it’s called. Plants drank about a gallon from last rez change and ppm was already up to 1100. Ph was down to 5.6 I topped it off with more water and raised ph to 6.03 and lowered ppm to 870. Update:(1/25/2022) Plant looks great again. Barely needed any recovery time. I’ll definitely be schwazzing all of my plants from now on. Happy with the new heater, I feel like the environment has been pretty stable. RH is a little higher than I want it, but it hasn’t seemed to hurt plant development much. Just those rust spots on leaves.

Ph going down to almost 5.1, ppm going up to 1200, I diluted the rez to 770ppm and ph to 5.9. Looks and smells good though. Clone looks good too. I snipped off all the “sucker branches,” and left the four main branches. I might top each of those branches again soon then scrog the 16… maybe I should just scrog the 4. The knuckling is starting to show more. Might try another treatment soon. Still haven’t increased feeding, want to get the auto done before increasing growth rate. Update 2/5/2022 Found some powdery mildew. When the lights go out the humidity shoots up to 70%… I rubbed the mildew away and will be keeping my tent slightly open, and all of the vents open. I was initially worried about temps, but the heaters doing a good enough job.

I reduced nutrients. Powdery mildew is continuing and getting slightly worse. I sprayed it with an apple cider vinegar mix. Hopefully that helps. The smell on the flower is really incredible. Smells berry like, and clean. I opened all vents in tent and have been leaving the window slightly open as well. Heater is keeping up ok. Even in the cold nights it’s keeping it at 66F with everything open. The leaves went crazy refilling the canopy. I’ve been pinching off some of the longer leaves and some that had mildew. The buds look good. Trichomes are cloudy enough yet, but it’s getting close. I’m gonna err on an earlier harvest, if the powdery mildew continues. I’m making some LAB from KNF, along with other natural fertilizers. If the vinegar solution doesn’t help, I’ll try that when it’s ready. Excited to try KNF on my outdoor garden and lawn. Planning on growing a couple canna plants outside this year. Gonna keep my outdoor as organic and natural as I can. The clone is doing well. The areas that I knuckled are strong now. Looks like biceps. Powdery mildew seemed to get this plant worse than the other. I’ve been wiping it off with my fingers as I see it, and finally treated with the vinegar solution too. I increased its feed to week two of medium gh feed chart. Expecting a lot of growth this week even with little light. Getting my dry closet ready as well. Got another humidity controller and an upgraded temp controller with Wi-Fi. Gonna dry one more time inside my house. It’s dry enough inside that I should only need a humidifier to keep it right. Need to get another one before I harvest and then should have everything. I used grove bags last time to cure and will never use anything else. Ordered another cheap TDS meter. The one I had got dropped in the solution. Update: 2/11 The apple cider vinegar definitely cleared the powdery mildew up, but I found a few spots I think I missed directly in the middle of the large plant. I don’t see anything on the clone. I’ll reapply in a few days and pay closer attention to the middle of the plant.

That’s dried weight. I’m proud of the yield for an auto. More than I expected. On the Ethos I’m going to do a few things differently. Gonna try to keep strictly 4 main branches and any secondary branches and clip all tertiary branches. Powdery mildew was the biggest issue with this plant, just because of the extreme weather and heater malfunctions. It was a great auto! I just planted my last see of this strain and will grow one more of these while I flower the photo
