This is the start of this diary.
I received two wedding cake clones on 1/6/22 (pictured).
I transplanted them to 1 gallon cloth pots on 1/15/22 (pictured), using a 1/3-2/3 mixture of Coast of Maine and Fox Farm Happy Frog. Also using Instant Compost Tea in a foliar spray.
FYI, the third, smaller, seedling, is an OG Kush female that's included in my other current diary and sharing space with the Wedding Cake.
transplanted to 3 gallon pots on 1/22/22, and watered with a small amount of Neptunes Harvest solution.
On 1/24 thinned a bit, started 4 clones (pictured) and watered with a little Fox Farm notes.
Wedding cake plants are doing well. Nice thick growth and great aroma.
Watered with Fox farm nutes and a little Instant Compost Tea today (1/28/22).
Will be repotting one more time in the next couple of days, to 5 gallon pots, and probably go to flowering light in about 3 weeks, give or take.
The 4 clones appear to be surviving, hopefully they’ll spruce up in the next week.
Cheers!
Things are going well with the Wedding Cake.
transplanted one to a 5 gal pot, so now have one 3 and one 5. Gonna keep them at that size.
May do a SCROG with those two, still deciding.
Three surviving clones are in 1 gallon pots (transplanted yesterday, 2/3/22). I think they’re going to make it, but soon I’m going to be space short!!!
Comments and suggestions welcome, please.
Cheers!
Plants are about 8-9 weeks in, ready to flower soon. Noticed spots yesterday. FF nutes once a week + a bit of Neptunes and ICT. No pests seen.
Any suggestions?
that's not what nutrient burn looks like or calcium/magnesium issues.
It looks like some larger beads of water or maybe something else was left on the leaf and it burned it.
Only spray at lights out. or before they turn on when it can fully dry.

Week 9 Wedding Cake update.
Big news was the appearance of some brown spots on some of the top leaves. Got some good advice and have stopped any foliar spraying during light hours (will stop spraying soon too, when switching to flowering).
I also did a Fox Farm recommended flush today, which should help with any salt build-up.
I’ve also been scrutinizing for pests , since my last grow had a mite infestation I caught too late. I’ve since retooled and thoroughly cleaned my grow area, and started these grows from scratch. That said, I found two mites this week. I thinned the lower leaves on both plants, and washed down a couple times with AzaMax solution, which I’ll repeat next week. I’ve seen nothing amiss since then, though, so hopefully its nipped in the bud.
Otherwise, the plants are growing fine, have a very nice smell, and the three clones, as shown, have definitely “made it”.
Please send me any comments or suggestion you guys may have. Always appreciated.
Cheers and happy growing!
Week 10 update:
Made the switch to 12 hours on 2/12/22.
Big news, I was overwatering the plant in the 5 gallon pot and killed it. You can see the yellowing and then the collapsed plant in the photos. Live and learn - it was my first experience with the 5 gal pots.
The survivor looks ok. The Leaf burn is ok now, thanks for the help!
Clones are also starting to grow!
Cheers!
This was a good week for the Wedding Cake plant, after losing the sister plant in the 5 gallon pot last week (due to overwatering). Interesting, the grower who started these clones also had two plants wilt recently, but he thinks for other reasons.
The surviving plant looks good, as do the clones, whose growth is picking up now. The clones were topped this week.
I’m looking for tips on defoliating, for both the Wedding Cake and Kush (my other diary). I’ve done a little, but probably should do more, due to the density of plants. I’ve included top down shots to help assess.
Thanks and happy growing!
John D.
Everything went smooth this week for the wedding cake.
I did some defoliating, and again, any further advice is welcomed, on defoliating or anything else.
Sticking to twice a week Fox farm feedings.
Clones are really starting to pick up now too!
Cheers!
Weekly update:
I discovered some mites on the mother Wedding Cake plant a couple days ago, and have applied AzaMax, and will continue to monitor and address. Have not seen any mites on the other plants, but I washed them with azamax too.
Otherwise, things are looking healthy, and the clones need to be repotted ASAP! This week I will do that.
Comments always welcome!
Thanks and cheers!

The wedding cake mother plant and clones are doing well. Still fighting mites, so I followed up last week’s Azamax with a treatment with PyGanic. I’m going to alternate between the two for a weekly mite wash down for the next couple weeks to keep them under control.
Turned the clones to 12 hour light this week , so all the plants, except for two new clones, are flowering now.
Also did some more (conservative) defoliating, hopefully will help!!!
Cheers and happy growing.

The week went well for the Wedding Cake. Mites appear under control with the weekly washings and buds are starting to fill out nicely. Started a bunch new 3rd generation clones too.
Pictures this week (and from here out) will be under natural light or flash.
Comments/suggestions always welcome.
Cheers,
John D.
Only a few weeks out now for the Wedding Cake mother plant. Buds are filling out nicely, and also starting to sag a bit. I may shore them up some with some string or netting to keep them up.
Mites are still there but under control with the weekly treatment.
The second gen clones are exploding as you can see. I’ve been pruning but I’ll need to do much more and/or make more space.
Cheers,
John D.
Hello fellow growers!
Another good week and closer to harvest for the mother Wedding Cake plant. The buds are thickening and ripening nicely. The clones are rocking too, the growth has been wild, and I’ve been trimming pretty aggressively.
Going to start winding down the nutes on the mother plant.
No sign of mites, but still did a weekly application in case of eggs, etc.
Comments/suggestions welcome, as always!
Cheers,
John D.
All the Wedding Cake plants are looking good. I’ve stopped all nutes to the Wedding Cake mother plant, and watching trichomes. I’m guessing another two weeks till harvest.
The clones are rocking, and starting to bud, and the second gen clones are rearing to go, some will go outside and some to a friend or two.
No sign of mites, so I’ve cut back on spraying.
Happy growing!
John D.
Grow highlights:
I’ve cut down the Wedding Cake mother plant, as shown, and after a little leaf trimming have hung it for initial drying with a wet weight of about 500 grams. This was a somewhat challenging, but very fun grow experience. My friend “R” is an experienced grower and started me with two clones in early January. It went well until I transplanted them into 3 and 5 gallons canvass pots. I overwatered and killed the 5 gallon plant, but learned a lot (for one, to use some vermiculite to loosen soil mixtures). Mites also we’re a minor problem, but I was able to keep them under control and they appear gone, at least for now. The second and third generation clones off the mother plants are continuing to do very well, and are actually a bit larger than the mother plant I just harvested.
I have tasted a bit of sampled, but not fully cured, flower and it is tasty. I will post an update when curing is largely done and I can give a thorough review.
Cheers!
