sbgrow Grow off to a solid start.; no signs of stress as far as I can tell. Watering periodically when soil looks/feels dry. Aiming to keep humidity above 30% (easier said than done in Southern California). Will start LST at the end of this week or first thing next week. Started the week off at roughly 1.5in, finishing roughly 2.5-3in.

Looks fine to me I have done a Jack herer this same way if you would like to look and my grow it is currently early flower stage. I would wait a week longer next time before starting the lean on mine next time to add some ability to flex without stunting.

Yes that looks right, the idea of LST is to bend and train so that other stems are equal to the center stems. Topping at 3-5 node is recommended for photos. I don’t personally recommend topping autos

sbgrow Week 3: plants are still doing good; no visible signs of deficiencies or excessive stress. Continuing to LST and tucking fan leafs behind bud sites. May look to defoliate and give dry nutrients at the end of the week. Watering roughly every other day, or when top 1in soil feels dry with 1/4 gallon.

sbgrow (02/22/2022): Start of week 4 and the plants still look good - not quite as large as I would like. I was out of town for 4 days so I was unable to LST. Appears to be at least 3 solid bud sights, hopefully I can get a few more before flowering starts. Will top dress with nutrients at the end of the week. (02/24/2022): Woke up to 99% rh in grow box. Quickly dried everything out. Top dressed with nutrients and watered thoroughly. Looks like pre flowers are starting to develop.

No it is absolutely not necessary. If the plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place! Just remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth! I am very anti defoliation and rely on the plant knowing what is best to do, after all, they have been doing so for millenia without defoliation or dinky little humidity cribs, another of my pet hates. Have been growing for close to 40 years and plants definitely grow better not defoliated. I only ever remove yellow leaves, for by the time they are yellow, they have done their job, which is making energy for the plant to grow. Less leaves = less energy = less growth - it is that simple! Hope this helps, Organoman.

I have heard it isn't good to defoliate autos, but for my photos, I lollipop about a week or two before entering flower, then defoliate during flower at days 21 and 42. Sometimes they don't need a full defoliation, I just try to make some space for airflow.

sbgrow Week's off to a decent start. Noticed signs of flowering late last week and it has taken off in the last few days. I think I had the light too low and that's why it's not very tall (perviously only ~12-15in) - I'm trying to slowly move it up, but it's not that strong so I don't want to raise it too much. The bottom leaves are starting to yellow. Not sure if it's from a nutrient deficiency or lack of light. After top dressing, I also made a tea: equal parts worm castings, vegetable garden 4-4-4, and flower girl 3-9-4, aerated for 12hr in 1/3gallon. Hopefully the yellowing will stop. Watering it when soil appears dry, typically every other day.

You need to increase your overall N-P-K bro. I see a few Defs there mainly the marco needs. Like nitrogen and phosphorus defs for sure. Coming into pre flowering you should be relaxing on the N as it is really key for growth phase not as much as P-K is needed. But once you start showing P-K issues with most bloom nutes it'll have enough N. So increase your overall feed by 50% I'll look through your nutes. But it's clear signs it's Just a little short on P-K as it needs a lot more when flowering (stigma) starts. Was the pure yellow leafs there a week or 2 cause it looks like it's Just early stages of P def. Nothing major to worry about. Overall your plant looks very healthy your Sub is just in need of more NPK as she's moving into flowering. Real simple fix. I'll DM you after I look through your nutes. And remove them dead leafs they are no good now.

sbgrow Week is off to an okay start. Plan is showing signs of some sort of deficiency. The bottom leaves are yellowing from the outside, turning crispy, and have brown dry spots on them. Added more nutrients and will order a Cal-Mag supplement to help. Besides that the flowers and top leaves are looking nice. I wish the plant was a little bigger, but hopefully she'll phatten up with time. Turned off the humidifier this week and the grow box stays around 30%. Rotating the plant every other day to try and even light distribution.

What is wrong here? Gave an extra dose of nutes but the problem only seems to be getting worse and spreading up the plant. Definitely effecting the bottom leaves more. Others said to just increase N-P-K ration, but this seems like something specific.

I wouldnt worry- Plants do have life cycles and it looks like its the oldest leaves dying back yeah? This is normal, a few leaves dying off here n there is normal and no big deal. Spesh the older bottom leaves. Ur in flower so dont go stupid with the N or you will stop the flowering process- Do the buds look healthy> yes? great- fuck the leaves. lols. Unless you plant to smoke leaves who cares what they do when the plant is in mid flower? Ease back on the n if anything or keep it at a balanced flowering level i.e low and just let the plant do its thing. Most of the oldest leaves will die off before the buds are ready anyways.

I actually think this is burning from too much feeding, not a lack of anything. Cut off the worst leaves, they are ripe for fungal attack and give your plant a rest from feeding for a week or so before resuming with half to three quarters strength nutrients. I have seen quite a few problems with people using the product you are using and it may not be the best thing for cannabis.

sbgrow Week 7 is off to a good start. Yellowing of bottom leaves seems to have slowed down after giving a big boost of flower girl and cal-mag. The flowers are continuing to bulk up and are starting to get frosty. I would still like the plant to get a bit bigger overall and may raise the lights again. Starting to smell like weed and it's great.

Hey buddy, normally I'd say no. But it won't hurt any if you take the fan leafs covering the lower bud sites. Leave all the rest like the sugar leafs and even saying that I can only see a couple fan leafs that will help if they are taken. Maybe if you can leaf tuck and allow light to reach the lower 2/4 sites I can possibly see. Very nice grow man. 3/4 so of flowering???what's that mean you are only giving 28 days of flowering. An auto or any plan even photos need 45-65 days of flowering pal. You count down the days once stigma has starts, (white hairs, pistils) happy growing good luck.

There is no need to defoliate at all, if your plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place! Just remember, - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy productionn = maximum growth. It really is that simple! Defoliating mid flower is really unwarranted, this is precisely when your plant needs maximum energy to grow the flowers. Defoliation is not a necessary step when growing cannabis, it is hardly beneficial, except maybe in extreme over crowding. Try and only ever remove yellow leaves, for by the time they are yellow, they have served their purpose. The older leaves also act as "store houses" of pre-made vital growth elements (carbs, sugars, amino acids etc) that your plant will draw upon during flowering, as it is far more efficient to do so, rather than grow flowers and make those vital growth elements from new, at the same time. This is also the reason for the so called "fade" which occurs late flowering. So, not only does defoliation reduce your plants capacity to make energy, it also robs her of this vital resource of pre-made growth elements she has so cleverly stored in her older leaves for use precisely now, during the flowering phase. Therefore, I would urge you to seriously consider not doing any unnecessary defoliation of the large, healthy, energy making leaves. Removing perfectly healthy, green, energy producing leaves and forcing your plant to grow new healthy, green, energy producing leaves seems like a waste of energy, energy that could be going into growing flowers, and rather pointless. Hope this helps, Organoman.

sbgrow Week 8 is off to a good start. Not showing any signs of deficiency after giving some CalMag last week - I will wait another week or so before feeding again. Watering every other day and tucking big fan leaves daily. Starting to smell really sweet and fruity. Hoping the nugs will start to fatten up as they still seem fairly small and airy. Added an extra fan to try and increase air flow. Temps are creeping into the 90s so hopefully the heat doesn't stunt the growth (I have no way of controlling temp in grow box). Weird yellow/brown spots developed on upper fan leaves. Thought it may be a calcium deficiency so I gave extra Cal Mag. I also gave it nutrients this week - it had been about 10 days since the last feeding. Added an extra 600w light to the grow tent to boost bud growth. Hoping the nutrients will solve the problem otherwise I will flush the plant and start a new regime.

Yellow/brown dots appeared midway through week 4 of flowering. More prominent on upper fan leaves. Gave it nutrient tea (flower nute/worm casting/CalMag) so hopefully that will help. Can’t test pH so difficult to tell if it’s lockout. Added new 600W light this week too.

Definitely a calcium deficiency. It is not "lock out". It is not caused by your new light. The old damaged leaves will not recover, but the newer leaves should stay ok if you have upped the cal/mag. You also need to ease up on the nitrogen/feeding, the leaves are very green. Excess nitrogen during flowering can cause loose leafy buds and diminish trichome production. Hope this helps, Organoman.

sbgrow Week 9 (5th week flower) is off to an okay start. The plant is showing serious signs of a calcium deficiency and potential an excess of something else. I’ve been upping my cal/mag and feeding a little with every watering. I’ve also begun adjusting the pH of my water with general hydroponics down to ~6 (my tap water is highly alkaline) and dechlorinating with old fish tank supplies. Hopefully I’ll start to see an improvement in new leaves in the next few days; otherwise, I will have to flush it. Regardless the buds still look like they’re coming along nicely and smell incredible. Trichomes are starting to cloud up and a few are already amber. I think in another 3 weeks it’ll be ready for the knife.

So. This is simple. The answers and folks you been listening to got you here. Plant has too much nitrogen, and not enough potassium and phosphorus. Likely but not necessarily causing a ph imbalance as well in your soil.

sbgrow Week 11 and the plant is almost ready for harvest. All have the leaves are dying due to age, nutrient deficiency, or pest problem. I noticed signs of spider mites this week and assume they have been wrecking havoc throughout the grow. I plan on washing the buds in a hydrogen peroxide bath before drying. Stopped feeding last week and have been watering with pure pH'd water. Some trichomes are starting to turn amber, but I think it'll be at its peak in a few more days. Plan to give it 2 days of darkness before cutting it down.
