Welcome to my first attempt at a photosensitive lady.
The aim is to get several clones from her and then use them for a SOG when the two autogrowers next door are harvested.
This time a mixture of raised bed soil and sand was used as soil in order to be able to better regulate the moisture. A great success this time too.
So, let's go 💪
Germination went smoothly and after the first real pair of leaves appeared, it was time to repot the lady.
This time, a more airy soil with a lot of biomass was chosen, so that I probably don't have to fertilize for the first few weeks. Also leftovers from the coffee machine were mixed in. This ensures a high nitrogen content in the first few weeks. Overfeeding like in my first grow is thus avoided.
Second week, nothing new to report. she grows normally. Not exactly fast but without any problems.
Since the soil retains moisture well without looking wet, i don't need to water it a lot.
Having moved to a new home, the conditions are now better. You can tell by the growth. It's going faster now.
I haven't given any fertilizer yet, just regular water.
Day 28: Started with the first topping to get enough shoots for the clone.
Day 30: The lady is developing as she should. No problems.
Still don't need to feed her, just a little water regularly.
Still no abnormalities and very good growth.
The first topping last week worked wonderfully. This week the two new main shoots were cut again. Now there are four shoots. I will spontaneously decide next week whether I will use the topping again.
Until then, I've started adding fertilizer. Due to the strong growth, the organic nitrogen content in the soil is not sufficient.
The week went without any problems. The second topping went well and she recovered well. They are fed with normal fertilizer every day. She's gotten hungry. I also had to remove a few leaves.
She has formed very good shoots to make clones of them in a few days.
Week 7: Next week. I actually wanted to start cloning earlier, but I had to go away for 3 days and couldn't really take care of the lady. In the meantime she was given water and fertilizer.
Day 51: Today was the day. I finally had time to cut the clones in peace. I selected and cut off 6 shoots.
If enough of them survive, they will get their own diary including a how-to on cloning. But only if the result is good, anything else would be embarrassing...
Week 8: She has recovered very well from cloning and has produced new shoots. Next week I will cut clones again, because only 3 of 6 survived (the others let the leaves droop, which indicates a lack of water)
But the space is slowly becoming less, because it is currently only growing in width and not in height.
Week 9, Day 68: This week she moved to a new (old) home. The wooden box was equipped with a heater, so I have fewer problems with temperature and humidity.
Before switching the lighting to 12-12 I cut 7 more clones. At first I thought that only three of the first 6 clones survived, well they all survived. If the new ones all make it, then it will soon be tight in the tent.
Day 66: F*ck fan !! The bastard fell out of the wall mount and broke off a branch. Luckily the branch was still attached to the trunk so I could fix it. I hope it survives.
Due to the visit of a heating engineer, the other plants also had to move into the grow box. This made it a little cramped here and I couldn't really take care of her anymore. The broken branch seems to have grown back, so no loss.
The first signs of bloom are coming through now and it seems to be gathering momentum now. The canopy is nice and evenly high, so all shoots will get the same energy.
Week 11
Not much new to report. It grows and the first flowers form. The smell is still very faint.
The clones make me more concerned about that. They don't want to root and need to be sprayed with water daily.
Week 14: Another flowering week is over. The buds don't grow as big as hoped. Maybe adjust the fertilizer or lighting a bit. When it comes to lighting, the cheap version doesn't seem to be that good after all...
Week 14:
Unfortunately, it is growing slower than expected. Probably because of the lighting. You can already see the difference in price. If the budget allows it again, she will be exchanged for a Mars Hydro.
Another week of flowering.
I still have some problems with such small crawlies, but the damage is not that high.
The bad light is having a more negative effect on bud growth than I thought.
Although the plant looks wonderful from above.
Week 16:
The growth itself stopped. Now the buds are getting fuller. The first trichomes begin to turn milky.
Fertilizer like the last few weeks, and the water consumption has remained the same.
Unfortunately, the crawling animals are still active...
And another week... defoliated them a bit and treated them gently with neem oil. The buds get a little bigger, but the trichomes are still half clear, unfortunately.
I think I can finally harvest in a week.
The smell keeps getting better. At the beginning I thought, what a "skunk" do I have here in the tent. But now the smell is sweeter and more balanced.
There was now only water and this week will be harvested. However, because of the neem oil, the buds have to be washed after harvest. Therefore, this harvest will take a little longer.
