The light is 45cm from the net, this will stay so till the end. This way every bud in above the net gets over 600 PPFD which means it will produce decent, ripened quality budds. I dont know if you can do it with all plants but (atleast) some sativa dominant plants dont mind some little over 1000 PPFD (without adding Co2) because in the middle of the tent, when the plant reaches higher, the PPFD will be quite high obviously. I always try to use my hand as an extra help to consider the maximum lamp-plant distance. Also i have a par meter but i dont rly like to tune in like that anymore. It has given me a pretty good idea about ppfd's of certain lights but the best way is still to keep watching your plants every reaction on your action.
I will bring down some branches that really peak and install a second net to have even more control, we still have another 6 days of stretching to go!😎
Looking great buddy. You will not be disappointed that’s for sure.;) I had this strain in my previous grow. They turned out really delicious.
Good luck and happy flowering.🌱😎
@Fayah_Burn,
Haha that's some tight planning!
I was checking their fast strains out the other day but I came till the conclusion that they use runderalis genetics in photo period plants to (according to the advertisement) only flower 1 week faster? To be fair I don't want to pay 10-20% runderalis, less potent genetics, for 1 week faster. There are tons of genetics with the average of 8 weeks and with some luck and pheno hunting ull find a fast pheno without the runderalis.
edit: oh shit i confused fastbuds with delicious seeds' early versions. If im correct fastbuds is autoflower only? they look kinda nice but i have no experience with them or any autoflower for that matter.
@HolyHerbs, well, i already have plans for the future. Tomorrow i will recieve new genetics. Since i need to have my flowering tent cleaned out in august (closed for holidays) i wanna get 3 harvests in the coming three month 💪
Trop. Banana ScrOG
(Week 6 of Flo. ATM)
Estimated harvest date:
8. - 15. of May
16 plant Trop. Banana SoG
(Week 5 of Veg. ATM)
Estimated harvest time:
25. June - 2. July
*Only achieveable by starting 12/12 two weeks before switching to my 120x120 tent.
And last but not least i am planning to put 6 different FastBuds strains into one or both of my tents (depending on size and germination rate) that should be ready somewhere around end of July.
Have you tried any FastBuds gens?
@Fayah_Burn, Ok man, i will keep an eye out for that diary. If the weed is worth the weeks flowering i dont mind 9 weeks also. A few years back i did plants that needed 12 weeks and stuff.. pff thats just too long :D
Hi again!
Gotta say, looks very nice..
Hope you don't mind if i make a few questions..
How long did you veg those plants after your 10 to 15 day rooting process?
Did you top them, you wrote something about taking clones with four shoots..? Or did you just let them grow naturally?
What is te reason you use one big pot for two plants instead planting a single plant in a smaller pot?
@Fayah_Burn, Hey man,
Maybe it sounds stupid but even with 1 branche u can fill the net when scrogged properly. Just push it down every time. So instead of keeping 8 branches to fill the net u can use like 4 branches which will reach the net faster than those 8. Then When they do, they will fill it faster or just as fast then the 8 branches would. I think its better because those 4 branches will all be good developed which means their side branches will also reach the right amount of ppfd to produce quality buds, instead of having 1 main branche that has 1 bud on it and never really developed the right way. It only costed alot of time and nutes to produce that branch :D. U defoliate to let the (in my opinion) useless/not profitable branch reach the net.
Euh I learned mostly from forums and through that u learn some people to share thoughts with. Also joined a discord server once but left it already due to some problems.. Thats where i picked up the most. there were some people growing commercially for over 20 years with crazy knowledge. But u can learn urself aswell if you search for biological truths and use your creativity and logic. With biological truths i mean u can learn from different ways of growing, not only weed. I like to learn from farmers, scientist, hippies, haha just if it fits your style. Sometimes when u only look to weed growers u can get a little biassed by all the opinions and stuff while there are farmers using some techniques or products for a long time already.
This is a dutch grower but dont seem to be active anymore :( growdiaries.com/grower/compassionate-gardener
When i come across some stuff ill let u know ;)
@HolyHerbs, yeah, you are right about the defoliation, in my case i have to defoliate, if not the plants would be too "full" and the sidebranches wouldnt reach the canopy on time because they would be completely shaded. Since i need almost every branch to be able to fill out the whole net i have to push them.. but i also like to leave a little more leafs on, specially if the plants are smaller.
Funny you are asking, i pick up some ideas overseas but i still grow in illegal territory like you..
Dutch growers dont expose themselfs like american growers 😂 and they don't wanna be seen near their plants, not the small ones and specially not the big ones, lol
What i wanna say with that is that i havent seen an NL grow for a long time.. i used to watch a few old dutch grower movies/documentaries, but thats years ago. Is there something you can recommend?
@Fayah_Burn,
Haha yes i have a motherplant. It has multiple pros; the first is like u said u can plan your next grow and win your veg weeks minus one week to climatize. The second and maybe more important one is that your mother will always be the same so your cutting will also always be the same generation of cutting, if you get me. Some strains will decrease their potential after some cutting->cutting->cutting. This might even take 4 years or idk how long but youll never know and ive seen it happening with a very precious cutting so i rather keep the mother as long as i can and if you learn how to, you can keep the same mom "forever".
The amount of water they take is not only determinated by the amount of plants/potsize as you probably know. I dont defoliate as much as you do, i dont see the benefit. The evaporation is also based on how much leaf surface there will be just as temperature and humidity and stuff. My canopy is (usually, not now with the Liberty haze) and was by that time full from side to side and about 30cm high. I was also testing the light penetration potential.
If the plant keeps small, your net low and the plant like max 30cm above the net, u kinda dont want defoliation in my opinion cus you should use all the chlorofyl they have to stretch to their potential (to save veg). after the stretch you just clear everything undereath the net, leafs arent even that bad to let them stay, theyre just a buffer to the plant which she can take nutes from in hard times XD. Only if the leaf is touching the soil (it has to fight the bacteria against composting) it has to be removed.
The logic in this setup is that u just only take the part of the plants u need so u cut the whole part between pot and net ( for as much as possible). The wattage you are using will also limit your harvest results so the only benefit those big plants can have is bigger buds (when indeed lollipopped everything which is unnescesary veg/time/stress)
Just to be curious, where do you pick up your info about growing? Not that you are one of them but i see alot of people looking to the USA for their skills but in my opinion alot of them are or very pro or just mimic the pros and never come close to a simple dutch comercial grow. Americans seem to like to have big plants just for pictures and stuff lol, no offense.. i still think they do great work over there.
If you want to reuse your soil it might be easier than you think! Also another benefit for me is, i can use all the premium ingredients which are too expensive when you throw it away after 1 run. lava grit for instance
Looks to me, judging by your pistils, you are more than 12 days from harvest. If you are using breeders guidelines I find they usually air on the overly quick flower time to make it more appealing to buyers. I’m my experience plants usually take a week or two longer than advertised. Also, when I grew organics I would not top dress close to harvest. Again, I’m my experience nutes take 10-14 days to really work into the soil when used as a top dress. Just my two cents so take it for what it’s worth.
I love the look of these ladies though. It’s gonna be one hell of a harvest!! Bravo!! 😎🍻
@AutoCrazy,
I also tried DWC but as u said it didnt work out on the endproduct for me. Probably needed a whole expensive setup or something. To be fair i find organic way easier than dwc but maybe because im used to it now. I also dont mix the soil for instance.. just add some on top and use like 1 tea a month.
Ill check out your stuff too
@HolyHerbs, I agree with everything you said. It can be very pheno specific as to harvest and if you are familiar with the genetics you know best when to chop em. Running clones makes things easy! I don’t run organics anymore, but it sounds like we have a similar style of organics (well I use it for my veggies still lol). I made the switch to DWC as I just got tired of working with dirt all the time lol. It was a lot of work mixing soil, recycling, top dressing, making teas, etc. I am on my first run with DWC so we will see if I stick with it. I’ve heard the flavours aren’t as good but I’m willing to test that out first hand.
I have to say the growth rate using DWC is insane!! I mainlined a plant and when I compare it to a plant I mainlined with organics the DWC is 3 weeks ahead of where that plant would have been at the same time. So …so far it is working out nicely but it’s all about the end product. And speaking of that I can’t wait to see your buds all dried and cured!! 🍻
Keep up the good work. It’s nice to see some fat buds done using organics!!
I’m going to be watching your plants finish up. I think they look great!!
@AutoCrazy, Hey man thanks for your words. Well whenever you pheno hunt a strain you can end up with an not so usual phenotype. For example a more sativa or indica leaning pheno. there are also fast growers/stretchers and there might be a pheno that takes extra long to flower. So there also can be a pheno that is quite short on flowering. That can be seen as a plus but most times those plants arent as potent or have smaller buds or anything else not appealing. This pheno is selected by a friend who likes haze's which dont get you couchlocked but have a sativa high. I totally get your point of view with the 1 or 2 weeks extra because that rule also fitted my first few years of growing. U will find, when growing good and having some genetic luck, that you can also sometimes have a pheno that flower less days. Using clones makes that u can really dial in to your genetics and u can try different harvest days. This pheno is the "best" on day 47 for me and the person who selected it. For some weird reason this pheno will start to get brown hairs and some amber trichomes and finish in 1 week.
Also i get your point with top dressing! Everywhere where i read i find this "rule" . But i kinda know that it works faster just because when u overdose or when your soil is totally out of nutes and u crush a tablet on the surface, make it wet, ull find the plants react in a few days.
I think the quality of soil has quite lot to do with it but ofcourse i cant really tell. Idk how u do "organic" but there are quite a few ways. My soil is used over and over again and injected with fungi/bacteria dominant teas. there are worms, spiders, cacao shells/hay and some green manure which will keep the soil alive. Also idk if you use something like humic and fulvic acid but that will also help the plants take in nutrients easier.
btw i added the bat guano like 15 or 16 days before harvest :)
To be fair im a bit scared for the harvest result.. Buds look nice and a bit bigger than they usually do in my other setup but the tent is not so full at all.. well.. we will see :D
Ciao!
