To add to what I said. I'm using biobizz ph down. When added to water it raises my PPM (EC) about 200ppm but when mixed with my batch of 900ppm it more or less stays the same. So it only affects plain water, that's if your using biobizz.

I would treat it like hydro as your medium is mainly soilless, The only thing in resembling dirt or soil is the earth worm castings and they only make up 20% of it. This would be different if it was soil, castings, coir, perlite. as then it would be over 50% soil based ingredients. some products will spike the EC a lot more. eg, calmg, will spike the ec a lot, it is a measurement of how easily an electrical current can pass though the solution. Salt simple sodium chloride will also spike the EC a lot. I would not say your doing it wrong, you just need to fine tune a few aspects of your grow to get the most out of it. Best Of Luck!
